It a fundamental aspects of sports leagues that there is an attempt at competitive balance. All of them have drafts where the bottom tier of teams gets to acquire the new players through a draft. Without this process, unless like you said smarter people than me can figure out a solution, leagues become noncompetitive and whoever has the most money wins. All leagues takes steps to prevent this. As I said in give credit to the Williams family for not pursuing it. Of course all parents want to put their kids in the best situations. That doesn't mean you get to break all the rules to do it. Unfortunately, if you have kids in sports many parents try and succeed.

Agreed. If he gets everything straight, bring him up to see how he adjusts.

I don't think its necessarily just the Bears. It's that they wanted to blow up the whole nfl. Going to labor lawyers to challenge the draft, etc. It is prima donna just like Elway and Manning. Give the Williams family credit that they didn't do it. This isn't the first and won't be the last qb and family that are put in this position.

Usually the goal when one team is trying to win and the other is rebuilding.

And that's a 4-2 White Sox Winner for three in a row!

I guess technically 2 years from 23 to 25 is years. -
Agreed. According to some reports at the time, he had opportunities to leave.

I disagree with this. They tried to win and did make the playoffs 2 years in a row with paying young players early. The strategy only work for a short period of time due to no one else behind them. I will agree that they don't sell everything out to win. But its not like the GMs haven't tried to get creative under their resource restrictions. -

He is not the only owner dreaming of this. There will be a substantial amount of missed games in 2027. -

What if its that he has a great second half? Also stays healthy for the while year? That is one of the primary issues with his trade value. -

All depends on how much they want to keep him. It's along the lines of we could keep him he would help but a draft pick may be worth it to lose him. You're right though. The odds of his performance being exactly at that level is slim. Odds are his performance will show its inevitable or the other, keep him or buy him out. -
It's really spread. The Sox are going to catch the Mariners whi most thought had the best rotation in baseball with 3 out of 5 starters on the IL.
-
Apparently, Venable thought differently. They had a long stretch of games without a break until Monday. Catchers rarely catch day games after night games anytime throughout the season.
-
Sorry, fat fingers. It was 350.

They would need to be ready to have him return. That's why I said if they had a reasonable idea that someone would offer him a contract. The 3-4 million could be worth the chance for the draft pick. -
Before the game i got +250 with Cincinnati at -5.5

Its very commonplace for managers managers to have a "Sunday" lineup on get away days. Especially a team that recently had a 20 some game streak without a day off. Ozzie was famous for it every time. Not all do it everytime but its common.

Looking at last year, the qualifying offer was about 21 million. If they are fairly certain someone would sign him for more, they would get the draft pick. If not, its not a significant amount more. -
I think this is right. Hopefully, he takes to the changes similar to Vargas. It was promising in the game yesterday when he had a hard double to the opposite field. He has not been doing that so far this season.

Good point. That draft pick may be worth it. I don't know how that works with the option years though. If they decline the option, can they still give him a QO? -
Waiting for Slater, Tauchman and Lee to come off IL.

I agree. I think the big question, is this version of Robert with 20 million especially with the injury history. -
Even with Montgomery leaving they are one of the more fun teams to watch.
