One of the podcasts had an interesting take on Vaughn. Look at the advanced batting metrics now with bat in the zone and such, they said that he would not have been in the first round today.

Yeah, it was tough to trade him earlier due to health concerns and now due to lack of production. He wasnt going to get much of a return and probably still won't. He sure doesn't seem to be worth the 20 million option either way. -

Do you think that JR is going to allow anything significant to happen next year eith the strike/lockout coming in 2027? -

I dont think its that easy to improve with the quality of players on the team guys like amaya and the hist of bad outfielders had been getting significant playing time. True they are near last place but last year they were in last place. By nearly all metrics they have improved. And with the quality or lack thereof of players on the team that pretty good. Unless you think that Getz has gone out and gotten better players, improving the hitting stats of a bunch of bad players is a pretty impressive feat. -

So you believe that a coach isn't successful unless they help and improve 100% of the players? Some people are just stuck in their own dogmatic way of looking at things and refuse to look at any other objective views and thus refuse to learn. Oh yeah, not all players are open to learning from coaches either. Instead of looking at the six compared to the rest of the league, we know the Sox have awful players, look at the Sox rankings last year compared to the rest of the league and the Sox rankings this year compared to the rest if the league. I bet you'll see as a team they've improved in most categories. -

Well he is infallible just like the Pope so obviously everyone can be cured. That fact that you have to start picking on specific players as opposed to the entire organization and the whole system makes me think you are getting nervous. -
Mogollon and bonemer still killling it as 19 year olds.
-
That's why a couple weeks ago I started to parlay a Sox loss with a rockies loss. The odds are a little better with nearly the same winning %
-
Yep. With the strike/lockout in 27 there is no way JR is going to authorize any significant contracts.
-
Nope.

Going to place a bet on scoring in the first inning now.
-
Good bet. Burke always seems to have issues in the first inning. Not a bad idea to use one for him.
-
Not sure what you mean by bitching. I'm not the one complaining about the awful team that should be winning now. All I'm saying is I'm giving the current FO time to prove whether they can or cant do the job. I'm not writing them off as not being able to do it. It will take time. I'm giving them a few years to try correct this awful mess. I don't think it can be fixed in one year no matter who is charge, even if was Dombrowski.
-
That's entirely possible. But I'm giving the current FO time to see if they might be able to work with him better.
-
Who said it wasn't Getz? It could be but I'm not willing to definitely say it was or wasnt. I prefer to see how someone does as opposed to prejudging and predetermining my opinions, its the researcher in me. Gather data first then decide.
-
Never said it was Hahn. You keep seeing what you want to see. Could have been KW. Could be they way management worked with JR. Could be the combo of all of them. Could have been Getz too in his previous role. Maybe in that role he learned what was wrong and has a good idea if how to fix it. I never said that Getz wasn't an issue or still cant be an issue. I don't have enough information to determine that yet.

I disagree. I don't think just because is was a poorly run organization that everyone one in it was automatically terrible. Frquently, its because boss doesn't allow the people under the to do their jobs. Maybe doesn't give them the support or resources to do their jobs well. I've worked at plenty of places that were poorly run and thus ineffective. Bit when someone else took over, even from the inside it improved dramatically. I'm not saying its going to happen, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
-
Not everything that was just the example. You didn't ask about everything. It is not all or none. One thing is not everything. Although, with their structure it was hard to tell who was the person in charge Hahn or KW. You could make a case that person was responsible for everything as they were in charge. But never the fault of only one person for everything.

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
ptatc replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sounds right. My family has had the tickets since the early 60's as well. -
Never said said its hahns fault only. You are making stuff up again. Hahn was in charge the system sucked. A new guy is in charge give him a chance. That's all I've said. If this guy sucks get a new one. But I will give him a chance to prove it one way or another.
-
Another day at Soxtalk.
-
That's true, no one can succeed in a job when they take over for their boss who sucked Instead of prejudging people maybe give them a chance. If not, enjoy the misery for the next few years.
-
Again, if there were an abundant near mlb ready players, Hahn would still be here. It takes more than 1 year to develop players, especially if they draft high school players.
-
I don't know if I would predict great like you but it is at least trending in a positive direction.
