  1. Thus one wasn't surpirising with the dreaded flexor strain diagnosis. That is not guaranteed but not uncommon
  2. That would be fine except you want at least a couple of veterans somewhere on the team. They picked those. It could have been anyone. They signed them early so they are sunk costs. May as well keep them.
  3. To start the year, I agree. Once they have Keel, quero and Montgomery up it will be more interesting at least. I think the pitching will be better overall.
  4. I guess in a tank year may as well see if they have anything. Since it's a claim it's minimal cost to return him. Bannister and Katz must see something. It will be interesting to see what it may be.
  5. Non-sports but didn't go into the hotbed that's politics as I recall. North got phased out when the stations got bigger and they went from fans on the radio to real journalists as Bernstein would say. He still mocked north and others who didn't come through the ranks of covering teams or newspapers.
  6. Absolutely. It seems they are ready to start over with this group and are just acquiring stop gap players. They can't acquire anyone with a long term commitment because they have the group they want a couple of years away.
  7. Good point. He did show good versatility with IF and OF capabilites. Plus he's from the orioles so fuller would have a background with him and he's also an illinois guy.
  8. Agreed, always seems like he wanted to be a "real" radio host instead of a sports radio host at times.
  9. Then they go to either whomever was there, if he is still around or tobthe utility player who i think will be Baldwin. It looks like he missed about 10 days so a 15 day IL is reasonable. Thats the job of the utility player to cover.
  10. No kidding. I haven't eead all of them all but are all of them having surgery with the Sox group? Some say "surgery right be performed by....."
  11. This is a retrospective study that only looks at EMR data not the actual subjects. Ifbyou look at the actual study not just the abstract you'll see that the authors don't even look at the causation. It doesn't really add anything we haven't discussed. What is the reason for the flexor strain? It it the overuse of the muscle or did they have a UCL laxity and that caused the muscle to over work. The study is 4 years old. The study was also dine on young high school kids with a mean age of 17. Different muscle development than the MLB pitchers. Some probably had growth plates that werent closed which contributed as well. Also 8 of the subjects were female. There are more recent studies that show this. While there can be a correlation, it depends on the etiology.
  12. If it was,we will hear about the lawsuit for the surgeon. Don't think Getz would have been involved in the surgery.
  13. Only if the surgeon put one of the portals in the wrong place. This would have been an arthroscopic procedure not an open one so they don't cut through tissue. Even if they did an open procedure the UCL is extrarticular and would not be involved in the process. Even with inflammation it would effect the joint capsule but not the ligaments. When they remove the bone spurs they don't change the shape. of the joint. If the surgeons made that significant of an error he would not have been pitching.
  14. Correct. Hahn had his chance, had a short lived successful run. It ultimately failed and he was rightly fired. Same thing applies to Getz. Everyone gets a chance. If it doesn't work they get fired. It's the way of sports.
  15. From the reports on how Hahn and Williams ran it, they may not have included him. Shirley was the director of amateur scouting and had a say on who they traded for. Regardless, it wasn't his plan nor his execution. I know you don't like him or the organization as a whole and think he should have won the world series last year. I for one, will watch what he does and give him a chance to execute his plan.
  16. By that logic, if those trades are bad you blame Getz for them? Mike Shirley as he was in the organization too? He probably had as much input as Getz. I look at the person who is responsible for the plan and whether he executes it or not. He gets 4-5 years to make a team his way. If it doesn't work, he gets the walking papers.
  17. I would define it differently. I would define it when the new guy took over and started making the decisions. Regardless of what Hahn did it wasn't Getz’s plan.
  18. Yeah, he has an extensive injury. Smith had his UCL reconstruction but it was 5 years ago or so. Schultz with those long levers is a risk. Odds are you can count on him having one at some point.
  19. Negativity sells. Chicago is a big sports market. Parkins has a national TV show.
  20. Rebuild II is in its second year. Patience grasshopper.
  21. Thus us a very generous way to put it. He tried to make them feel uncomfortable and then make them believe they could know more because of his gift of knowledge to them so they could know more than the people who run the teams or played. There is no doubt he was a good hire and made them money as controversy sells. Just too bad he finally started to believe his shtick too much
  22. The fractures thumb is an issue. Won't be able to grip for a few weeks. My guess is he'll miss at least a month probably 6 weeks.
  23. At least everyone will have company on the training room. No one will feel lonely or not part of a team while away at rehab. 😀
  24. Which leads one to believe that it was a significant tear.
