QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Not the one I had in mind. My memory was somewhat flawed but not completely. It was the Veeck collared uniforms that had the white socks.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Is this it? Not the one I had in mind.

QUOTE (SoxnGiants @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) Not a good look??? That is a horrible look, but that isn't the uni I had in mind. I think a recall a road uni in powder blue with white lettering and white sox. I seem to also recall some sort of sox logo patch on the side of the socks.
-
The sox went to thier "house of horrors". The Tigers played the Twins. 3 games played, 3 days off the schedule, no movement in the standings ... Advantage White Sox. Let's hope they can put another 1/2 game between themselves and Detroit tonight.
-
QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) Why do the white sox wear black socks with their uniform instead of white socks? They actually wore white socks at one point. Back in the 70's I believe. It was not a good look. Maybe someone not as lazy as me can find a pic and post it.

I can't say where, but I saw that JR quote at the time it was made. I very rarely go to the NYT website. If I was to guess, I'd guess that I saw it on a Chicago based website.

The reason Robin won't have 25 years with same club as manager is the fact that it rarely happens, maybe never happens unless you own the club like Connie Mack did. Step and look at what you are saying. It's simply illogical and unreasonable.

Let's see here ... the discussion is who should be the 4th OF for the next 2 to 3 weeks when they are both decent defensively and meh offensively. And this has gone on for 9 pages? Whatever?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) Any reason why Youkilis is not playing he seems to be hurt just about every other day but why not DH him? Nasty HBP yesterday.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Yeah but you gotta take chances and be aggressive and given Pennington's arm so far today it was a good chance. Just didn't work. I guess will have to agree to disagree on this. If he was out by 3 feet, okay ... but the catcher could have dropped the ball, picked it up and still tagged him out.
-
Hawk and Stone are full of it ... GB shouldn't have been sent. He was out by 15 feet.
-
I knew that sending Beckham was a mistake as soon as he rounded 3rd.
-
That'll work.
-
Watching Beckham bat, it dawned on me that the last player I saw wearing the uni with that number was Dick Allen.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) I think that the decision on Konerko came so late that they didn't have time to get someone to Chicago in time for Friday night's game. Might as well wait to make the move, in case something else happens. They had an off day to get someone in Chicago BEFORE the decision on PK was made. Who cares how it affects the Knights, having someone in town just in case would have been the right move.
-
Somebody should have been told to get to Chicago in case PK couldn't go tonight and was going to the DL. Poor planning on the Sox part. No reason not to have a 25 man roster for tonight's game.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Well, certainly it helps if you're keeping pace when your main rival is pretty hot, and that was my main point. Kind of quietly (mostly because they had a REALLY hot stretch of 15 games and then lost a few in a row), the Tigers have put together a very nice extended run. The Tigers also finished last year with that remarkable 40-17 clip, which apparently informed everyone to expect it again (the ones that feel the Tigers still prevail especially). I think people are forgetting one crucial detail - The Tigers treaded water at .500 for the better part of three months leading up to that. It's one thing for a team to get really hot over a 57 games stretch like that, after mostly treading water. However, the Tigers have already had a 24-14 stretch, and are still in second place. They have a lot more work to do at a similar clip to take the lead, and potentially put themselves in a position to win this division. The White Sox clearly aren't fading or going away - and are coming up on a stretch where they play most of their games at home. For Tigers fans, it's gotta be coming up on "what do we have to do" - after all, you swept the Sox at home and are 10 over in the last 38 - and you've made up exactly .5 games. It's quite likely that it will take 90, 91, 92 games to win the AL Central. For the Tigers to win 91 games, they would have to go 57-35 from June 22nd through October 1st. The Tigers are a talented team, but I just don't see this roster playing .620 ball for the last 92 games this season. They just aren't capable of being that consistent. The league, as I've pointed out in the above standings, seems to also have more competitive teams than last year. A very nice, well thought out analysis but I'm going to put it in a different perspective for you. This Tigers are 1.5 games back with 2 months of baseball left. .620 ball or not, they have to make up an average of one measly game a month.

When it comes to my favorite Sox players ever, AJ is definitely part of the discussion.

Absolute power corrupts abolutely. Absolute power was the perception at PSU. Personally, I think PSU got off extremely lightly.
-
Just for the hell of it, I'm going to jump in tonight .... AJ

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) Ya no kidding. How the hell is this even arguable? It's not. Hence my remark that this was a no brainer.

Minor League Music Guy Ejected From The Game!!!
YASNY replied to Noonskadoodle's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) I have never seen anything like this before lol. The home plate umpire at a Daytona Cubs game throws out the music guy in the ball park for playing the "Three Blind Mice" in between innings hahaha. I recall, I think, this happening before. -
King Felix just threw a 2 hit shutout at the Yankees in New York.
