  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) What other options are there? That is what we don't know and what Hahn is trying to discern.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) I'd be shocked if Jake and AJ really liked each other at all. They both seem to be bullheaded which reinforces your statement. Still, I'll stand by my previous post.
  3. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) That doesn't mean it should be. Why should Cabrera be rewarded for playing in the weakest division in baseball? Or ... Why should Cabrera be reward for playing for the team that won the pennant.
  4. This kind of insight from Flowers, along with what I have heard that the pitching staff on his pitch calling and the organization on his overall catching skills have been saying is why I believe Flowers is ready for the full time job behind the plate. I'll take what offense I can get from him if he can handle that staff and infield leadership position a catcher needs.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) +1. Dayan was a terrible 3B. He actually is a serviceable LF. Leave him where he is at. I'd rather see Morel or some random scrub signed to play 3B than to see Dayan there again. If nothing else, this is a team that needs its defense, as a lot of its pitchers pitch to contact, and not for strike outs. This! I'm in 100% agreement.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2012 -> 06:01 AM) You also highlighted how much Nate Jones sucked in 2012 quite frequently. As for Thornton, if a guy who appears in 74 games, has a 3.46 ERA, and has an over 3 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio is the biggest problem with your bullpen, there is nothing to fix. ^ This! ... Thornton, however, is a valuable trade chip (I hate to demean people that way but it is what it is) which I think should be explored.
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 10, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) We were going off rumors, not just pulling big names out of our arse. Oh c'mon. Headley is in the discussion for the NL MVP. This ain't happening.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) I think Youk is the Sox top choice because he will only cost money. Considering his splits, Youk should be begging the Sox to take him back. I do think Youk knows playing 1b is probably better for him, but if he signs for 2 years 1b opens up with the White Sox. I believe in 2 years we'll see Viciedo as the starting 1B.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) No way they would take Floyd and Q for Moose. I think it'd take Floyd, Danks and Beckham or Floyd, Danks and Q for Moose. And KC doesn't have the money to pay those players. That's Moustakas, not George Brett.
  10. My problem with Adam Dunn is that he is strong enough to hit it out of the park in any direction. If the guy would just hit what the pitchers give him he'd still put up 40 bombs, but he could up his productive outs and his average. A 390 foot fly ball to straight away LF is worth just much as a 440 foot fly to straight away RF.
  11. I watched a Baltimore game recently and Gary Thorne was just a pleasure to listen to.
  12. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) Run with this! Count it down with player photos.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) He has the most RBIs aganst the Sox. The manager is starting to cost them more games. Make your call now. Santiago a a good move?
  14. Thoughts. Ventura: He may have made the wrong call in that spot, but his overall body of work cannot be ignored. He has lead a team that was projected to lose 95 games and they are in 1st place in mid- September. Bunting in general: I'd be very picky about when to call for a sacrifice bunt, because I don't believe in giving away outs. Handle the bat and hit the ball to right side to advance runners ... Hell, it may go through for a hit. Bunting again: I believe that every major league hitter should be able to lay down a bunt if the situation calls for it. Once again, bunting: We do have proficient bunters on this team. Why we haven't run Cabrera into the ground during this and the last series is beyond me.
  15. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) Meanwhile Jake Peavy at $16m and possibly $22M for 2013........YOU"RE FIRED! Peavy needs to learn to pitch to contact more. Too many K's ran his pitch count up last night when the K's weren't crucial. He got tired and got lit up. His competive nature is getting in the way of his brain.
  16. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) That Trout fellow is something else. Ya think?
  17. The Angels are giving a clinic right now on how to hit Justin Verlander.
  18. I'd much rather the Sox in a September pennant race game than a Bears game. I love the Bears and the NFL, but I'm a Sox fan first, Bears fan second, baseball fan third and NFL fan fourth.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) A lot of people don't like him. I think Thorne is very good. I agree. I had had to watch the O's broadcast of the Sox-O's one game. Listening to Thorne call the game was a pleasure.
  20. Sox: The clincher in Houston. No doubt. Non-White Sox ... The game 6 Fisk/Carbo homer game between the Reds and Red Sox, 75? ... I still think that was the greatest World Series game ever played. Next: Don Larson Wait, but didn't Christie Mathewson hook up against Walter Johnson in The series one year? Seems to ring a bell, but I'm too lazy to look it up. Either way, I'd love to see that.
  21. I want to see the Sox clinch a post season series at the Cell. I'm not sure but I'd guess the last times time they clinched a post season series in Chicago was when they beat the Cubs in 1906 or 1908 or whenever the hell it was, as I suddenly drawing a blank, though I had it when I started typing this post. Brain fart, I guess.
  22. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) The catch-alls are usually the first thread I read in each sub-forum. In fact, I probably keep up with them more than the individual threads. This ^
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) Gee thanks. I like you, too. I was just thinking about the Ozzie threads we'd see.
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) This is great message board stuff the problem is journalists used message board stuff as fact which is why this was discussed on the SCORE with Don Cooper instead of hearing about Gavin Floyd's recovery. This started on a tigers message board and went from there. Then that is on the, and I use the word lightly, journalists. Not on us.
