  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) I'd have to go with Pudge and Shalk first, but AJ is right there after that. I'd have to throw Lollar into the mix.
  2. After that thread title Somebody's got to do this so .... It's up to you New Youk, New Youk!!! Sorry ... I couldn't resist.
  3. Nice catch Brent ... Good luck in Boston.
  4. I like this trade. We absolutely needed a 3rd baseman. I hate to lose Lillibridge, but I don't think Robin was playing him enough. He's a decent ballplayer. Youk can help or he can be a bust. If he's a bust we are no worse off.
  5. Last inning, with Gordon at the plate and Hudson on 3rd. I was thinking suicide squeeze.
  6. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) In other years, that would be cause for worry. This team seems more focused on the road. Which is why I didn't say anything negative about it. I just stated the fact.
  7. The schedule for the next few weeks is Road intensive. After today's game, we are on the road for 6, home for 6, All Star break and the on the road for 10. Back home for 3 and back on the road.
  8. While Moyer definitely deserves respect, he would not be of use to the Sox. Give those innings to the kids. (I remember when Moyer came up with the Cubs!)
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:10 AM) That is interesting... Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin I wonder if the one "fan" who lost his mind via Twitter when four reserves started today's game has settled down after the win? Second, a flu bug went through the White Sox clubhouse so players were limited ~ Third, long game yesterday and guys need breaks and bench players need chances to play over a 162-game season ~ Fourth and most important, Robin and his staff know exactly what they are doing ~ It is interesting ... and correct.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) No one currently in Sox organization (and from the sounds of it, the Sox agree) Morel, for his glove.
  11. This inning should answer the question of who should be at 3B.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Yep, he has no confidence in his secondary stuff now. Seems especially obvious after Cespedes crushed his screwball. Earlier in the year, he threw some nice curveballs to lefties. He's not getting the as much movement from his scroogie as he did in the minors. He says that baseballs are different. This is more of a mental hurdle he has to overcome more than anything. That said, I think he should be starting in AAA right now.
  13. When AJ was a Twin, I hated the guy. As soon as he signed with the Sox, I knew I'd love him. I used to hate Dino Cicarelli (sp?) they same way, but I wanted him on the Blackhawks.
  14. That was a nice play by Adam ... And The Tribe just got beat by the A's.
  15. Good stuff here, Fenway. Thank you.
  16. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 11:12 PM) Totally disagree with this, for two reasons. For one, if you wanna make history, you have to earn every out. Can't have any of that Favre/Strahan B.S. going on. But also, it was a 4-run game. It's not likely that they'd catch up, but possible, and the best way to win is to get on base. No reason to quit just because the opposing pitcher is on the verge of history. Again, it serves no one to fold up shop. I'm with you on this one. 8-0, different story though.
  17. Oh Lord! It's hard to beat Humber. If you know what inspired this, face facts, you're old.
  18. A great quote from KW right now would be "I love Castro."
  19. I love AJ's attitude. He gets under the opponents' skin. Plus, there's the fact that his head is always in the game. He's on top of every situation between the lines and opportunistic when it's there for him to be.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) Dunn looks fine to me. He's seeing the ball, putting good swings on the ball, and his bat speed is there. I think for him, there's a mental hump that he needs to get over. Anybody on here who has ever played any sort of sporting activity at any level has gone through some sort of extended slump, and your self-confidence is crushed. Even when you start doing the small and fundamental things well again, you still need the self-confidence to know that you can do it and that you've done it before. I think that's the phase Dunn is in right now. He'll slowly start doing things well and then he'll bust out and hit 7 homers in a week or something stupid. There were a couple swings he put on balls tonight that I thought looked really good. I agree with you, but then I expected that bust out 7 homer week last year.
  21. QUOTE (The Only Swede @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) I'm really nervous about Sale tonight. I hope he has it in him but I won't believe until I see it, there's a lot more pressure now. Do you believe it now?
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 12:53 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3273164.story A blue collar kid that fits in perfectly with the new direction of the Sox... According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Santiago became the first rookie since the save rule was instituted in 1969 to save his team's first win for a first-year manager. I just posted this same info on another thread. Sorry.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 12:23 AM) That's because I trained under AA in the special secret society SABR school (aka S5) We had to type 150-180 WPM to gain admission to the program. I do good to type 150-180 Words Per Month.
  24. Hector Santiago is only pitcher since the save rule came into existance that was a rookie pitcher who recorded his first save in a rookie managers first win.
