  1. Speaking of this trip to Atlanta, does anyone know if TBS is going carry either game?
  2. After reading this enlightening thread, I think I'm just going to move to the next one without comment.
  3. Wednesday, I watched Game 1 of the Series. Game 2 on Thursday. I'll watch 3 and 4 on Friday and Saturday, then I'll watch 'celebration' DVD on Sunday right before the Banner raising ceremony. Life is good.
  4. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 06:57 AM) :fight FIGHTING DEMS!!! Let's see ... That first pair is Hillary and Bill after Monica, then there's Hillary and Bill after Streisand stayed at the WH .... Hillary and Bill after, oh hell you get the idea.
  5. I don't know how this story hasn't made to POTM till now, but I was roaring with laughter. Texsox's opening post in the "Spring Break Over" thread: That's pure humor.

    QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) College Diet or Eat all you can eat Eat Ralph Kramden or Sheriff Buford T. Justice
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Never pay for a woman's attention. Oh, you pay. You always pay ... sooner or later.
  8. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) and you're racist I know that is in green, but my remarks have nothing to do with skin tones.
  9. This just reinforces the "Stupid Cub fan" thing.
  10. Did the D'Backs get Cruz because they know we want him? Could he moved here in another deal? I wouldn't be shocked considering Sox and D'Backs have two recent trades with each other under their belts.
  11. I'd take a healthy Thome over a healthy Thomas. I'd also take PK and Thome over Thomas and Delgado. Why? Attitude.
  12. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) From Baseball-reference.com, here are the 10 most similar batters through age 34: 1. Jose Canseco (898) 2. Mike Schmidt (879) * 3. Harmon Killebrew (873) * 4. Reggie Jackson (873) * 5. Juan Gonzalez (869) 6. Willie McCovey (866) * 7. Fred McGriff (861) 8. Duke Snider (858) * 9. Frank Thomas (857) 10. Willie Stargell (849) * 6 current HoFers and possibly 2 more is pretty good company. Now if he can add to that with a couple of good years and break 500 HRs, he is in. Tony Perez got in with a .279 BA and 379 HRs. Eddie Murray got in with a .287 BA and 504 HRs. Currently Thome is at .281 BA and 430 HRs. Who else, besides Frank, do you consider a potential HOF'er? I don't see Canseco, McGriff or Gonzalez making it.
  13. QUOTE(PaleHose4Life35 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) Hey guys I was looking around at different stats and I found that Thome has 430 HR's and bearing any more injuries he should get to 500 before his career is up. Does that get him into the Hall of Fame? What do you guys think? I think it's coin flip.
  14. QUOTE(JenksForPrez45 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 09:46 AM) AJ Article I dont know if this has been posted before but heres the link I think it has been posted. But's that's ok. I enjoyed reading it again.
  15. QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 08:09 AM) What are the prizes? As SS2K5 said, stayed tuned.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:31 AM) The Matt Thornton of old sucks. We get it. It's been said a million times, and everyone knows it by now. If KW passes on Nelson, it's obviously because they think he's got nothing left in the tank, and they think Thornton they can fix, and become a productive member of this bullpen, then that's the way they're gonna go. And if you look at likes of Neal Cotts, who didn't start out well, and has now become probably the best member of this bullpen, that should give you at least a little bit of hope. Looking at Nelson from last season, he only pitched 1IP or more 5 times out of 22 after July. Can the Sox afford to carry another specialist who can't pitch multiple innings, if they're going to already carry Logan and / or Lopez? Oh, cmon DBAH0. You know as well as I do that if Thornton sucks now, he'll always suck. There's no such thing as a good pitching coach. It's all a myth.
  17. Some background on Thorton's performance, yesterday: Let's hope this is the start of something good.
  18. Regarding posts like the one above, I'd sure like to see an accompanying link so I could 1. Know the source 2. Read the whole article instead of selected portions.
  19. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 07:41 AM) Was there a DVD with the SI promotion? No
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:43 AM) Question though--Would people be willing to part with Jerry Owens for Cruz? It seems like the sox aren't as high on Owens as they should be [esp. after his 2005 season]. If Owens' defense isn't what it should be, and doesn't project as anything more than a LFer, trading Alex Escobar for Cruz could make sense. With Ryan Sweeney's development, I don't see Owens helping the sox in 2006- That's difficult to answer with questions aboiut Cruz's attitude toward relieving hanging over him. If he goes into a pout because he's not starting, we don't need him.
  21. You've got to love this as motivation. Kenny Williams on Bobby Jenks:
