Who Will win the WBC?
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) It'll be Cuba. Can you imagine all the problems Bush is going to have to deal with if Cuba actually does win this thing? What problems?

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) Just saying that, yeah, there's Henson, Borchard, etc. But I'm not gonna write off Fields cuz of some supposed rule about football players playing baseball. Bo could play, Deion...well, somewhat, and we had a pretty good Auburn tight end on our team. There are tons of busts among top prospects. It's not surprising that football stars bust like the rest of them. I stand corrected.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) joe Borchard. drew henson. Chris Weinke Josh Booty Quncy Carter Kenny Kelly. How many football guys have to go bust before baseball folks figure out they're not going to make it to the big leagues because they miss too much developmental time in college? That's $5 million of Reinsdorf's cash out the window. Thanks, Duane Shaffer. You forgot a few. Kirk Gibson. Frank Thomas. Bo Jackson.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
My first impulse is a negative reaction to this trade as well. This Thornton dude sounds like six other guys we just sent down.

What is the word on Boone Logan?
Yesterday was my first chance to see Boone pitch. Three things I noticed while watching him. First, we works quickly. He just gets the ball and throws it. Next, His delivery and arm angle appear to make the ball very difficult to pick up coming out of his hand. Finally, he throws strikes. All in all, I was impressed with what I saw.

Broadway to start in B'ham
I have my doubts about Broadway. I'll reserve judgement on him though. I hope KW and the scouting staff knew what they were doing here.

Top Rated Farm Systems--Fox Sports
Having been a Sox fan for over 40 years, I really don't care that KW 'decimated' our ml system. He got us a World Championship. I've seen generations of prospects, one after another, come to the club and bust. He achieved what all other Sox GM's have failed to do. I don't feel another WSC is needed to justify the 'decimation' of the farm system. I'm glad he's going for it and all that, but suffer through 4 decades of futility before striking gold, and then tell how important the 'prospects' are.

Bullpen giving Guillen more grief than relief
I love Ozzie. If they're horses***, call them horses***. Why sugarcoat it for the press? All you have then is sugarcoated horses***.

Pffft, WHERE are these women??
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 07:57 AM) African Queen. That movie rocks. I don't remember much about that movie, other than this quote sure fits with the character she played. AQ was going to be my guess as well.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Ya, mate. Lots of it. It's sunny and 80 right now. Leaves are out, wildflowers on the way, grass is green, and life is good. I'm in your area right now. Yesterday was a beautiful day. Today looks like it will be nice, just cooler.

I hope this does hit the floor for open debate and discussion.

U.S. launches largest air attack in Iraq since 03
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) It hasn't exactly been proven he aided the embassy seige. Although in 1979 the current Iranian President was associated with a student organization which participated in the event. I recall reading an article where it was looked into by our government, and proven false. Former hostages swear to this day he was involved. Personally, I believe it's only logical to assume if there existed proof of Ahmadinejad's involvement the US would jump all over it. Mr. Former Hostage, whom are you going to believe, The US Government or your own lying eyes?

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
If one of them can be a 'pitcher' instead of a LOOGY, there is no reason not to take them both. That, however, is a big if.

Dustin Hermanson will give it the old college try, but will be forced to retire somewhere around the All Star break.

Happy Birthday to.....
I never cared for any Sox uni that didn't have a diagonal "SOX" on the cap. Call me a traditionalist or whatever, but that's always been a team signature in my eyes. There is a uniqueness about it. Most teams have the initial(s) of the team location on the caps.

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) He made a change to his arm angle last season. His velocity didn't increase, but he was able to improve his command as well as movement. He opened up the Sox eyes late in the season, that said, he's only pitched 4 games in A ball. But if you look at his 05 numbers he only walked 4 guys in Great Falls (35.1 innings). That is a big improvement to his past numbers. As I said earlier, if this guy shows he's got what it takes to OG, DC and KW he'll get every opportunity to show what he can do. What he's done in the past has little, if any, bearing. The saying "What have you done for me lately?" comes to mind here.

MRIs for Pods, Hermanson
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) I think there are very few athletes that were able to do much after back surgery. Scottie Pippen is one I know of, but if you know anyone who has had back surgery, they usually are still a little screwed up after the procedure. I had an uncle, since departed, that while working on a pickup truck had it fall on him and break his back. He went through some tough times, but was eventually was able to hold a job as a framing carpenter. That includes all the manual labor expected, including manually packing 2x10 or 2x12 floor joists, 4x8 sheets of plywood and carrying bundles of shingles up a ladder and placing them on the roof. I did this job for 5 years and it is very labor intensive, including a lot of bending over for extended periods of time.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) I still dont know if the Sox can pull 3 Mil, but if the Sox dont hit 2.7 with 2.2 already sold, That would pretty much mean the Sox were not even close to making the playoffs. Win, and the people will come. Its that simple. Ya. Jason really went out on limb with that prediction.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) I'm sure I can get there for at least one of them, but I'll have a one-month old at that point who will be demanding a lot of attention. But that could be a great opportunity for baby's first baseball game!!! That sounds like a plan to me. I'll make sure we don't leave the cell phone in the car this time.

A real nice story on A.J.
Regarding Garland's quote, I had that perception of AJ when he was with Minnesota. In fact, I compared him to another Minnesota athlete ... Dino Cicarelli. I hated the guy, but I knew I'd love him if he played for the Hawks. That's exactly the I felt about AJ. I was thrilled when we signed him. I love this quote about Tomko. Regarding the "punching the trainer in the nuts" thing. That's the first time I've heard anything from AJ regarding that incident. What he says makes sense. If he actually did that, he would have been fined or suspended or both.

May shuttle launch scrubbed
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Especially since NASAs budget has just been HAMMERED in the last decade or so. To be honest it is amazing that more people haven't died as much as they are trying to do with as little money as they are getting. I agree. This is one area that I don't mind my tax dollars going to.

2006 Chicago White Sox Season Tickets
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) They are only here once this year - the second week of June from Monday through Thursday for a 4 game set. I didn't buy tickets for this yet, I should have, but at this point it's not going to be easy for me to break away. Oh well. We missed connections last year and sounds like we'll miss again this year. As of now, though, there are still good seats available.
