  1. I despised Navarro. Clayton and Jiminez come in next. I don't hate any players because they were ineffective. I wasn't real enamored with some of them.
  2. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Yeah, I use that approach for any topic YAS starts! Whatever works my friend.
  3. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Pretty Good But, 1. There can't be Power sick Mods, Just because you're a mod it doesn't mean you're always right (No one in particular, just saying) You can't shut up someone with the power threat 2. There sould be a limit of post before anybody can start a thread, Not to be mean or anything but there's been really stupid threads posted of Non Sense that really no one cares about and that's what starts things, same go for polls (Everyone knows how i feel about those when there used for stupidity) 3. I say about the post limit before able to start a thread is the fact that as someone said a lot of newbies will come around in the playoffs, Many of them bangwagon fans and many that won't come back to hte board and if the Sox lose a game then the bashing starts mostly on Ozzie. Hey it's ok to disagree and say hey Oz get your head outta your behind and so and so, But a whole thread? and multiple ones of the same crap? And for last, you guys do a good job keeping this place up and i tip my cap, but i do hate a lot of the Arse kissing around here. That said, those are my 2 cents sorry if it's a lil harsh, I've signed up for many boards and only spend time here on Soxtalk and of Course my principal board on Worldcrossing. I do admit you guys have been good to me and have done a good job getting rid of a few troublemakers such as Ncrolbl and Brando and so on. Thanks 1. You shouldn't have to worry about power mad mods. If a mod gets out of line, the other mods and admins will address it. 2. That's not a bad idea, but as it is, if you don't thing a thread is worthy, just don't post in it. In fact, if everybody just ignored it instead of 30 resposes saying stupid thread, it will just fade away. 3. Follow my advice above and "a whole thread" becomes just a soon forgotten single post.
  4. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) I'm of the belief that this team needs base runners. Mark Bellhorn gets on base just as well as Todd Walker. This team needs a LH bat that can drive in runs. Todd Walker fills that bill. Bellhorn doesn't. They don't need Walker to play 2nd or 3rd. He can DH. He should DH. Only putting on the leather occasionally.
  5. I explained my reasoning for my original statement. Maybe that statement was oversimplified without taking things like ownership into the equation. So stop picking an exception to the rule and look at longer post I made. I stand by what I said as well.
  6. ^ But it was a damn good post.
  7. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) For the record, YASNY, i never called YOU ignorant. I said that particular way of looking at things is ignorant, and i stand by it. semantics.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) He was throwing 88-90 miles an hour with us the entire first half of the season. He plays in the all-star game and is popping it at 94? Then the entire rest of the year with the yankees he was topping out around 94. People thought his arm just got tired when he was with us until we saw how he was throwing after the trade ( sure he sucked ass with the yankees but always looked like he gave more effort). You were right on the money with my reasons for saying he was lazy.
  9. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Couldn't agree more I did not say that.... LOL ... nope. You didn't. I didn't mean to imply that.
  10. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) I agree it's the Record. Just look at Joe Torre. He's soooooooo Damn overrated it's pathetic. But wins and Loses get you on Marketing Machine ESPN and that how people think you're good Anyone can sit and disect a manager's moves and decisions. But, that's like looking at a sapling while standing in a forest. The main point I was trying to make was that a manager has to manage with the long interests of the entire team at heart. Here is an example of what I mean. Jerry Manuel almost ruined Garland because he never gave Garland the oportunity to take another step in his development. He did not give Garland a chance to succeed because he wouldn't allow him to face a possible failure. So, last year we had wait for Garland to go through that particular learning phase under Ozzie because Manuel didn't do it 3 years ago. Ozzie has also been criticized for countless bullpen moves, yet he has made questionable moves that have allowed these guys to develop some stones and become a very good pen. Ozzie gets criticized for leaving in or taking out a starter ... it doesn't matter which ... yet he has all 5 starters going out there with a very good chance of getting us quality start every game. It was stated earlier that Ozzie was a horrid in game manager but he has gotten more from his players than anyone expected. Getting more out of your team than expected is what defines a good manager. Ozzie qualifies ... this year. I know a lot of St. Louis fans that despise LaRussa. They disagree with in-game decisions and whatnot. But step back and look at what that man has accomplished. He's going to be a HOF manager but people still say he sucks. It's the big picture folks, not a decision you disagree with when you are most likely under informed about the situation that determines what a good manager is. But, then ... don't mind me. I'm 'ignorant'.
  11. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) Well you're entitled to your opinion. Thank you. At times around here, that is not a given.
  12. Esteban was lazy last year with us. There is no doubt in my mind of that. I'm happy with Jose, thank you.
  13. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) You don't want him available for the playoffs?! He would be available for the playoffs because he is on the DL.
  14. Well, as much as I hate to say it, Griffey to the Sox ain't happening'. As for that crack from the Reds, well, what else would expect out of 'the Big Dead Machine'? I wonder why they call Cinci 'the Queen City'.
  15. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) That's a pretty ignorant way of looking at things. To evaluate a manager solely on record is like saying every team in MLB has the exact same talent level. Come on, now. Also, Ozzie tied the game by himself yesterday. Then later got the win. You sure you want to evaluate him based on W/L record? He should receive an "L" for yesterday's effort, not a W. That's why it's not won/loss record. When it comes down to it, the is the only real measurement of a manager. Ignorant or not.
  16. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) why Timo over ARow???????? Ozzie no make sense. Oh, it may be that ARow got hit on the spot on his elbow 2 consecutive days and it hurts like a sumb****. Just call that a hunch.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Cubs white flag? They might as well wave it.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) We had better see Baj. After the year he has had, he deserves a chance It's looking like he'll get his call up. I hope so.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) So much of what we take for granted in our society is based on trust. Just driving down the road we trust the oncoming car will not swerve into our lane. We trust the company that packaged our food followed sanitation rules. And our journalists must trust people are telling the truth. Sadly, that isn't always the case. And we must trust that our journalists are truthful as well. I'd Rather not bring up some of the deceptions that have recently been foisted upon us by the media.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Adkins going down for Brandon? Probably, but he won't physically leave the team. He may be recall immediately after BMac's start.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) Ain't that the truth. I'm a master of stating the obvious.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) I'm sorry but she has one of the best baseball blogs out there. I think it makes it even funnier that she is lampooning the Sox. Yep. She's good.
  23. I posted this in PHT also ... Baj, I hope you get the good word. Best of luck to you once you do.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) 3-man race for the Cy Young Buerhle Colon Garland Tough having two guys from the same club. Rivera. You know how those east coast writers are. :headshake
  25. QUOTE(downstairs @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:59 AM) Being new to this board, I know it may have been asked before... but I did a search here and found nothing. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the opening montage video they play at the Cel? A downloadable video would be fine... Honestly, I think this has been discussed and no one could come up with it.
