QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) The WSox have comfortable leads over both CLE & Minn. WSox 75-47 (39+1 to play) Indin 70-56 (36 to play) Twins 67-58 (37 to play) Let me put this in perspective for you. If the White Sox were to play as poorly as COL (.376) the rest of the way they would still finish with 90 wins. To catch the WSox the Indians (.555) would need to play .611 ball the rest of the way. To catch the WSox the Twins (.536) would need to play .675 ball the rest of the way. The best record in MLB is .627 & the 2nd best record in MLB is .615. That is all real nice. But there was a period of time that we were playing at a .750 clip from the start of the year. I'd guess that it was still at .700 at the 40 game mark. Who's to say CLE or MIN can't do that as well?

QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) Has Crede EVER had a season like Bellhorn had last year? Has Crede ever had a season which caused him to basically be cut?
-
QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:40 AM) Bellhorn got injured with a sprained thumb and struggled to hit. The Red Sox traded for Tony Graffanino and he is currently playing way above his head so they have no need for Bellhorn now. Look at Bellhorn's stats last season for Boston. They also speak for itself. Bellhorn does not possess the glove that Crede has but he is damn sure better at the plate. That was last season. It doesn't mean squat this season.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:40 AM) I'm sure Steff is getting the restraining orders printed up as we speak... LMAO ... you may be right.

I know I saw Pods in the dugout on Saturday.

QUOTE(shakes @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) I did just that. Hopefully, it'll work. On a strange unrelated note. Steff, I had a dream that you were my neighbor and you gave me free playoff tickets. Even though, I've never met you. Your very nice in dreams. She's very nice in my dreams, too. Just saying.

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Iget that..Garcia allows 1 hit and loses..Garland pitches no run ball through 72/3 and no decsion.. The Gar is stuck on 16... And Jenks just looks he's gonna get anyone out who steps up into the batters box. I believe that's the 2nd time the pen blew #17 for Garland.
-
If Bellhorn is so good, why in the hell was DFA'd by Boston? That speaks for itself, I believe.
-
Congrats to Jenks on ML save #1. May there be many, many for for the silver and black.

I think there is plenty of question as to who'll pitch game 1. I wouldn't give it Mark just because he's Mark. You organize your rotation to where you think it gives you the best chance of winning the series. Screw rewarding guys. Screw making guys feel good. Win the damn series. That should be the ONLY factor in deciding who gets the nod.

You've got to give the man his props. His made some big plays and has done a fairly decent job with the stick since Pods went down.

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) I used to listen to that album constantly. Fair Game, Dark Star, Just a Song Before I Go, Cathedral, I Give You Give Blind and Shadow Captain ; all great songs. I got it on vinyl. Southern Cross. Another great song from that album, if memory serves me correctly.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) I know what they're trying to do, but I think it's a very, bad idea. Just wait for the backlash from all the haters. The haters won't be buying tickets anyway. To hell with them.

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) I don't think there is much of an alternative, honestly, but hell, does it matter who starts?! I don't think any of our minor league pitchers could do much worse than Bmac has done in the majors...what's his ERA up top, like 8?! Arnie Munoz and Felix Diaz can put up numbers like that, too. I feel confident that you'll see a different BMac this time around.
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) If Bmac is using his changeup and throwing it for strikes, he's dangerous...if not, he's too predictable with his fastball, which loses it's effectiveness. So, who else would you prefer to see start that game?
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:11 AM) You blamed our losing streak on a website banner? Wow...did I accidently stumble onto a Cubs board?! No, no, no. We changed our luck to the better by going back to a "proven" banner. There's a big difference there.
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:13 AM) Bmac vs Texas?! Is it just me, or does that sound like extra batting practice for the Texas mashers?! If I were Ozzie, I'd start Bmac under one single condition, show me you can throw your change for strikes like in spring training, and you can start...otherwise he will get shelled, especially by the Rangers. Somebody has to start that game, and Brandon is our best option. From what I've been hearing about the way he's been pitching lately, I'll gladly take my chances with BMac over any other option we have.

Some interesting similarities between Garcia's gem and the one thrown by Dot in '83.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Not nearly as much information has been made available on Derek Lowe, as it was made years back to the "Athlete of the Year." How much info do you need? He's banging that Fox reporter. I think that covers it.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) The Sox could use a guy like Franco. Brings expirience to the time, thinking opposite field, not trying for a home run. The Sox could use a hitting coach like Franco.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) There's a reason why the bench players on contenders are almost exclusively major league veterans. Position players do not equal pitchers... Pitchers can see action out of the bullpen and learn a lot in a short period of time. Position players must play regularly. Frankly, not to be an ass, but anyone who doesn't recognize this doesn't know a damned thing about baseball or player development at the very least. Sorry, I didn't know I was dealing with a professional here. My main point, Mr. KnowItAll was that we have a contending type team. Sure, IF your intent is to develop a ballplayer as quickly as possible and let him go through his growing pains at the expense of the club, then that is the best way to go about it. However, if you main focus is to win, then that player has to play when he can and earn his way into the lineup. Not to be an ass, but get off your high horse. Opinions are like assholes. We all have one.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) 8 Games up And we have won 2 of 3. We're on a hot streak. I'm in.

KW's got a week. I hope he can work something out to get us a LH hitter.

QUOTE(ThinWhiteDuque @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) Ask Big Tex the same question. Wow, would I love to see either of those guys in Pale Hose. "But where would they play?" Ummm ... wherever the hell they wanted to play.

So ... What happened to "ManHands" or whatever that was?
