  1. I'll still lean toward believing the soldiers' versions as opposed to what the AP wants me to read.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Thanks for the link sleepy but I can't get to it thanks to the work firewall. Brian.. I get those in my shins when I run but they go away quickly. This has been lingering. I tripped while in Boston and it's been hurting ever since. If this happened at Fenway .... SUE THE BASTARDS!
  4. Replacing Konerko with Blum probably saved a game in NY as Blum snared a liner headed for the RF corner with the tying and winning runs on base for the Yankees. Edit: Now, I'm suddenly not so sure it was against NY.
  5. It's as though the batter's eye would leave something to be desired.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Looked damn good in his major league debut going 2 for 7 with a couple basehits. Currently hitting .286 with a run. I read a couple of remarks in PHT that he didn't look very good at all. Maybe it was 1st game jitters.
  7. Sadly folks, I think we can just put this idea to bed.
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) Correction: We still have the best record in baseball. Whether or not we are the best team in baseball, well that's a matter of opinion. I'll agree with that.
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) Bottom line is that he played the matchups right to get through the 8th and 9th. You don't usually plan for extra innings, let alone 16, when you are leading a game. Your last pitcher out of the pen enters in the 16th. Oh f***ing well at that point. You can blast ozzie for mismanaging bullpens all you want, but to do it for this game is just ignorant, period. What happened tonight was his nearly perfect closer gave up a dinger and blew a save. The hitters didn't hit for 7 opportunities to walk off with a win by scoring a run. Mismanaged bullpen was not the problem.
  10. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Some of the "ideas" people have on here just make my head hurt. You and me, both. I spend a lot of time vocalizing "You've got to be kidding me." but not bothering to respond or address it. It ain't worth it.
  11. Bulls***! Ozzie doesn't know how to use a bullpen my ass. He was whipped and rode this pen to the best record in baseball. He is managing the bullpen for the long haul and if things didn't work tonight, they didn't work out.
  12. Sox .632 Cards .630 We are STILL the best team in baseball.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) Also, in a town known to be pessimistic about their own teams, I have a bad feeling that there would be a lot of booing at games, etc. After just taking a nice long shower, it made me laugh to think how a lot of us are so upset right now, even though we have an 11 game lead in the division and 13 over the Twins. Of course, by no means do I think the division is clinched. However, there's still a long way to go before we're in serious danger of blowing the lead. Does anyone else want to join my philosophy that if this team doesn't make the playoffs, then they just flat out didn't deserve to make it? I'd say that philosophy is a given.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) It's not about what they're getting in return. It's about the fact that he is the team leader, the best player on that team and nearly the only major leaguer they have. If they dump him, Royals fans will have 0 reason to watch the games. Kotchman for Sweeney is more than enough for the Royals to accept the trade, they're not going to get much more than that during the offseason. They're mired in the cellar with a 17 game losing streak. What reason do they have now?
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) We'll have to agree to disagree. Very sorry LMB, but it is demeaning and insensitive. It's not what you'd call politically correct and the fact that it happens here, and no one raises hell about it .. but other issues bring on the wrath of the posters ... is totally hypocritical. Just my opinion and no disrespect to you, but that's the way I see it.
  16. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Actually, both Buck and Scully made calls. Here ya go: Click me Scroll down for it. ' I've heard both. Buck's was the famous "I can't believe what I just saw" call.
  17. I really cannot understand what Timo adds to this team. I haven't been a Timo basher, but I really think Borchard would help the team more than Timo does. He'd at least add a power threat to the bench. Even if he did hit only .215
  18. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) I am not even going to read this thread...seriously, bench Kong, then we have who playing 1B? Timo? Ozuna? Widger? Dye? Blum? I'll stick with the most dangerous bat in the lineup. What the f*** is wrong with you? Using logic is not allowed here!
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) I'm about 99.9% sure that this is not the game thread, it is in fact the Sox & Roll announcment. Yet it's reading like a game thread. KILL THE f***IN" TWINS!!!!!! There ... now it's official.
  20. It's calling like it is ... in your misguided opinion.
  21. Scully sucks. He's boring. And the infamous call of Gibson's HR was done by Jack Buck. Now there was an announcer.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) I've got a good feeling we'll see that tonight. I know this much. Uribe looked horrid before he got that triple. As Ozzie said, he nailed Rivera after looking like s*** against the junkballer. Unreal.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) but..but...but he was wrong I see the green ... but ... Ok, he was wrong. s*** happens. People do, from time to time, f*** up.
  24. Christ people. You expect perfection. Paulie had a damn brain cramp. It happens to people every day, even ML baseball players. Paulie's never been one to dog it. Doesn't years of watching him bust his ass carry any weight? He lost sight of the ball, which he said ... and had a momentary pause. That pause cost him. It was a mistake, but it damn sure wasn't Paulie dogging it because he didn't want to hustle.
