It dawned on me that I didn't see anything about what happened to Cameron on here. He was involved in a very nasty looking collison with Carlos Beltran. Both players were in a full extension dive going for a ball hit between them. They hit face to face. Cameron was immobilized and taken off on a stretch while wearing a neck brace. He has a broken nose, multiple fractures to his cheekbones and a concussion. Beltran got scraped up and bruised up, but apparently he'll be ok. Check sportscenter for the film of this. It's not pretty. Here's hoping Mike makes a quick and full recovery.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) Nice research, YAS. PS... sorry about our little confrontation a few weeks back. I blame booze. It's been forgotten. -
Snitch? You mean like that cabdriver that told police where he dropped off that runaway convict and his guard killing wife? Damn lowlife POS tattle tale.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) No, the hawks resigned TBO before arbitration for a cool 2.5 million. This was before the Khabibulin signing. I knew I had seen something about this. I just found it. -

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) Interesting. Is Comcast going to step it up and finally challenge ESPN? ESPN has the right to match the offer. I suspect they will just to keep another sports channel from getting off the ground. -
TO to Cardinals, Tampa, or Oakland

I've love to see TO exiled to AZ with Bill Bidwell's tight wallet. It would serve him right. TO = POS -
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Where is Sweet Willie Harris on this list? Right where he should be.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) More like the Knights are short a starter since Adkins was promoted. That's one reason Bull is starting tonight. Dear God, it's just an organizational move! Where was this uproar when we signed Bobby Jones? This is an uproar?

All stats are useful tools in judging a player's performance, just as all stats are limited. It takes a combination of these stats and your own eyes and knowledge of the game to make a true assessment.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) The Indians keep on winning, so it's important for the Sox to do their part and keep that double digit lead. Should be an excellent series. Schilling's been very good as the closer in the past week or 2, really settled down in the role. With Mark, Jon and El Duque due up though, I like our chances of getting 2 out of 3. The 4 game sweep at the Jake is looking much more important now that it did at the time.

I wonder how many that are critical of Ozzie for being politically incorrect are the same people who regularly slur Latinos by trying to phonetically spell out Ozzie's quotes. I know this much. None of you high and mighty stone throwers said a damn thing about this when any of the numerous occurances happened. You seem to be somewhat selective in what you consider politically correct and what you consider offensive. This is the second time I've mentioned this practice as being slanderous toward Latinos. The first time I mentioned it, it was not even responded to, iirc. Then we can talk about how nobody seems to get upset when someone considers residents of the southern US as dumb hillbillies. I've called several people out on that, and the problem seems to have gone away here on Soxtalk. Thankfully. However, I had to get somewhat beligerant to get this accomplished. I guess it all depends on what is consider cool to get in an uproar about, and what is "no big deal". I know this much. There damn sure is not any consistancy in it.

Jim Landis or Ken Berry, but I can't decide. Those two guys were both ballhawks.

Good article. Thanks for linking to it.

If Cotts wants a shot at starting next year, I think he's earned it. Some don't want him to start because he's been so effective as a reliever. Would you want him to start if his ERA was 5.65?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) The MLB rules clearly state that if a player is revoked from ML waivers the team can not request ML waivers on that player for 30 days. Now if you think the Reds requested ML waivers on KGJ for the purpose of seeing who's interested then you're an idiot. I don't understand your supposed logic here. Passing a player through waivers is a no risk deal. I'm also familiar with how this August waiver period has worked in the past. A vast majority of ML players are, in fact, put on waivers. If they are claimed by another team, they pull those players off and those players are not eligible to be included in any trades. So, when two teams talk trade, they know who can be and who cannot be traded without having to wait three days to see if an agrred upon deal can happen. So, yes, I think the Reds requested ML waivers on KGJ. They have no logical reason no to do so. Now, if the makes me an idiot in your mind, that's ok. I just take into consideration who's mind it is and, as usual, disregard it.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Not meaning to be rude but for us who aren't familiar with him could someone provide a bio or something.. I just know that he was a Negro League great. He got the nickname "Double Duty" when he caught Satchel Paige in the first game of a double-header and then pitched the second game.

QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) I think you're taking one (likely sarcastic) throwaway nestled on a message board way too seriously. :headshake IT happens way too often. -
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) If it's implied how do you not know about it? Show me the damn transaction listing. That's all I ask. You said it was "implied" after you said we'd "know" it. That's crap. Back it up or shut up.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Alot of people were throwing him under the bus because he only had two pitches. Now he has added another to his quiver and is dominating hitters. His arm angle, his location on the mound and his abilty to throw for more heat are what have made him what he is today. Which is common for a young pitcher until he learns how to master those 3rd and 4th pitches.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) Why would they report something that is implied by the rules? You said it ... you said we'd know about. I've been telling you to show me those transactions ... repeatedly. Back it up or back the hell up.

I give up. Some people just will not ever admit they are wrong even though it has been proven numerous times by numerous people that they are, in fact, mistaken. It's not a disgrace to be mistaken about something. It is, however, moronic to continue to evade posts that prove you wrong and to pick and choose and squirm and to select minute points to attack when the crux of your argument is drastically flawed.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Nope.. no such thing. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bo...t=.jsp&c_id=bos How irrevocable waivers work By Jim Molony / MLB.com In a surprise move, the Boston Red Sox placed outfielder Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers Wednesday. But what are irrevocable waivers, and how do they work? MLB.com, with an assist from Houston assistant general manager Tim Purpura, explains the ins and outs of the process: More at link. :rolly Thank you. This proves quote from that article proves my point.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Is there a number attatched? If not he might not be able to find it. All I've been trying to say is that players put on waivers, claimed on waivers, cleared through waivers or withdrawn from waivers are NOT commonly reported. It was stated that we'd know about all these transactions. We don't know about these because it is such a common occurance. We know of at least two players (Remlinger and Moyer) that have been placed on waivers and have either been been claimed or cleared. If I would be shown in the MLB daily transactions that are printed in every newspaper across the country that one of these was listed, then I would gladly yield to Juggs point. So far, I haven't seen that.

YOU said we'd know about it. That all these players going through waivers would be known. I'm saying SHOW ME!.... You said it. Back it up.
