QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Come on... get off his back. Seriously. Agree to disagree, build a bridge, and get over it. Whatever. So many around here are quick to point fingers at members of this team. It gets old.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) http://www.fantasysportsjunkies.com/index2...do_pdf=1&id=205 This doesn't prevent minor leaguer's from being PTBNLs but it does affect AL-AL, NL-NL trades. That's pretty definitive that the same league restriction is AL-AL, NL-NL I don't recall that being the question.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) I had already read your prediction earlier in the thread, your point? Those are my thoughts, whether you predicted them or not. As misguided as they are.

QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) You're homeless? He had a damn good point.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Not always it doesn't. We charge our agents, they charge their drivers, and they charge the customer (the person moving). For us it ends there. It sounds to me like you are describing exactly how s*** rolls downhill. The "person moving" being the final consumer.

This kind of thing always makes makes me wonder how much technology has been forgot by mankind and why was it forgotten.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) As the owner of a private trucking company I don't think his customers would be the type to be passing anything onto consumers. Honey, s*** always rolls down hill.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) you think she looks like Martha Stewart? No. Martha Stewart as an embarrasing crush.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) It means that unless he can find a way to convince the customers to eat a larger % of the surcharge... or has a hefty reserve for such costs... things are gonna be tight for a while. And his customers will pass it on to their customers, who'll pass it on to ... us. Of course, we'll have less disposable cash because gas is so high so we'll buy less at the retail level. Which means, retailers will order less merchandise, which in turn will lead to layoffs in the retail, shipping and manufacturing sectors. Less people working, less disposable cash. Yada, yada, yada.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:wcFUW7Q...NL+trades&hl=en The nice thing about this link is that the guy includes examples. Search on PTBNL. The only restriction seems to be an AL ML can't go to another AL team & a NL ML can't go to another NL team. Other than that the PTBNL can be a ml, ML, or even a DL player. Oddly enough there have been two instances where both the original player & the PTBNL were the same player. A lot can happen w a 6 mo deadline I only saw one instance of 'PTBNL' in this link, and refered the same player for himself scenario. Still, not the definitive answer to our question.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Who cares? On a personal level everyone is an asshole sometimes, even a lot of the time. Irrelevant. I just want to know what he said and might have meant. I made that post in response to Steff. It has nothing to do with what he said and what he meant. Yes .. as far as the topic at hand, it was irrelevant. In the context in which it was intended, it was quite relevant.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) I'm loving having a running back in Julius Jones right now. It's really quite funny if you're not a Bears fan at the moment. Who asked you?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) I would suggest they have a race for the number. Griffey would pull a hamstring.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) You'd think they'd fix that stupid ass look on his face.. Maybe his face always looks like a stupid ass.

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Double-checking my stats... 24 by an NL Cleveland team in 1899 is the record. The Phillies lost 27 in one month in 1939, however. The 1968 Chicago White Sox lost a Major League record forty-four one run games. Imagine us pulling out our hair to that bullpen, huh? The Phillies 23 in a row is the most since 1900.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Fair enough. Thank you.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) According to Neyer, wrt PTBNL: 1) Must be completed w/in 6 mos, 2) player can't be in same league as new team, 3) Teams can use cash instead of players if they can't agree There's no mention of the 40 man roster. The best way to clear up 2) would be to look for a case where the PTBNL was an active ML player. That would tell us whether to interpret it as AL/NL or ML,ml, indep, Japan, etc. The best way to clear it up is to see the actual rule.

QUOTE(dymaxia @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) Come on. This 'captain' stuff is so corny and east coast. It's so .... NHL.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Paul doesn't need to be turned into an asshole. He is an asshole. Thank you. On a personal level, that may be the case. I have no idea.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) Ken Griffey Watch.... Ken just hit another homer. We've got too many guys that hit homers.
-
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) You are right, but we need some offense to win. And we haven't seen crap for offense lately, or when we do see offense our pitching fails. We need to get back on the same page. Its a shame Griffey will not be joining us this season. We really can use a guy with his offensive calliber in our lineup. Have you guys noticed that we are 0-5 without Pods in the lineup? Tells you how important he is to this team. This team is also about team. If Griffey doesn't want to come here because we won't dislodge Rowand, then, as I said, screw it.
-
LMB, this is not directed toward you. Every time PK opens his mouth someone tries to twist his words to him look like an asshole. Then, we eventually get the full story and it's never Paulie that turns to be the asshole. Thank you.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Not if playing CF is contingent on him dropping his no-trade clause. If that's the case ... screw it. He's not half the defensive CF Rowand is. He was, but not now. This team is about pitching and defense.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) If IIRC, a PTBNL can not be a player on the 40 man roster? I thought that too, but based on Neyer's transaction primer, that's not the case. I wish someone would show me something definitive to shoot that down or confirm it.
