QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Just so there wouldn't be a 50 page thread on Frank coming back in October. Since you wouldn't know me if I was standing in front of you, you really shouldn't make assumptions of what I wouldn't know s*** about. Ok .. I'll call you on it. What do you know beyond what the rest of us know?

I don't think Hendry gives a crap about the crosstown rivalry. They sell out every game. If he can do something he thinks will be beneficial to the Cubs, he'll do it.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) Definitely sucks. But he's done so much. His tenure here will be talked about for a long, long time. Greatest Sox hitter of all time. It definitely will be.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Read the article, Frank said there was a chance, but he had no idea what kind of chance. His idea of a chance may be 1 in a million. You can say I'm spouting off, but the White Sox, the team with probably the most optimistic idea of injuries in sports, declared him out for the season and the playoffs. I read the article. I know the odds are long. But, the point is ... you are acting like you are an expect on Frank's medical condition. When it comes down to it, you don't know s*** about it. And remember ... you are the one that SCREAMED it.

If we are looking at Walker, KW's given up on Griffey.
-
Walker could DH against RHP. Everett has been horrid from the left side of the plate.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Soxy does love heights, and 6'7" is a tall drink of water . . . ____________________ You have to translate those Texas expressions.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Thanks!! I don't buy being tired from playing somewhere new. Especially when he averaged 30 more games in previous years. I don't really know what "tired" looks like.. but he looks fine to me. It's a thought that has crossed my mind as I watched him. I'm not saying it's fact. Call it a theory.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Well, let's see. Bmac would know, I assume the players would know. He would have called a friend or two after the game. So yes, some people would know. I guess that answers that question!

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Frank deserves to be able to walk the rest of his life with as little pain as possible. I wouldn't even begin to argue that point. Of course he does. Apparently, you know more than you are letting on.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Would you care to make a wager? He's in a cast, if the best case scenerio occured and he was able to get the cast off in a couple weeks, that would leave him with 2 weeks until the playoffs to get strength back into the area, and get sharp enough hitting to where he actually could contribute. He wouldn't be able to take a minor league rehab assignment, since the minor league season will be over. There was the same pipe dream that he and Maggs would possibly return last year. It isn't going to happen, its not realistic. Frank himself said there is a chance. I'm sure he has more info on the topic than you do. You are just spouting off and do not know anything more than the rest of us. I'll grant you, it's not probable. But you acting like you really have the definitive answer is ridiculous.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) It's more than a lean. Wow. I'd really hate to see that. Frank deserves a better ending to his career.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Frank is done for the season, playoffs included ^^^^ The ultimate authority ^^^^

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) I don't see it as being a patsy as much as aligning herself with people who share her views. I believe it's called grassroots. The swifties weren't patsys in my book, even though they wound up with big money supporters. They had a message and used whatever vehicle was made available to get the message out, same as she is doing. There is something about this lady, and I cannot back it up, that makes me feel that the "vehicle" is determining what road to take.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) Its really sad when Jesse Jackson has to go down to clean up our religious leaders messes. Do you mean the Rev. Jesse Jackson?

To paraphrase an old saying, I guess humor is in the eye of the reader.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:15 AM) He was referring to Seattle, which Frank did not make. Regardless, look for a statement from Frank and the Sox in the near future... not good from what I've heard. Regarding?
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) He can kick some ass in college and go back into the draft later. Why would anyone want to play for the Royals anyway? The Royals are known to bring their kids up early, to save money. He could get to abritration and free agency a couple of years sooner. The losing would suck, but it could pay off big in the long run.
-
QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) You mean someone who accumulates 5000+ strikeouts and then stills throws 98mph at 43 years old is not just a run of the mill pitcher? The was the jist of it. Yes.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) You are entitled to your opinion and I will file it in the wastebasket with so many others. Why the tude? Hatred over something like a baseball game, especially on mistake made by a player who had no intention of making that mistake IS ridiculous.

Regardless of games played in Japan in past years, Iguchi LOOKS tired. He's had the stress of playing in a completely foreign environment. The only thing similar is the distance and placement of the bases. Most of the Japanese games are played on turf. New country. New cities. New opponents. New teammates. New customs. All that can wear a man down.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) all that needs to be said is this. read the article on the sox homepage - it's also in another thread around here. that will prove y'all wrong. :crickets:

We are not choking. We are not slumping. The slump is over.

Congrats Brandon on an absolutely stellar performance and that first big league W.
