  1. This was brutal. And the schmuck that posted this on the net, originally, should be tarred and feathered.
  2. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Rip, Sheed, and Tayshaun all had pretty bad games. I haven't even examined all of the game stats yet, but they were bricking shots left and right. However, in a 7 game series, we don't stand a chance. We might be able to force a game 6 if we're lucky. That is a motherf***ing defensive powerhouse they got over there & they have rings for a reason. I have my money on Detroit to come out of the East. And like everyone else, the only team I see challenging them is Miami. The Bulls are just way too raw right now, although I can't blame anyone for having high hopes. I agree. This is a learning year for the Bulls, as far as the playoffs go. It's hopeful they make some noise and upset Miami or Detroit, but I wouldn't bet on it.
  3. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Exactly. Which is why I agree with Pax on this one and try to keep the team together. They lost in overtime by 1 point against the defending world champs without our best 2 players(IMO). That's a pretty damn good showing for a young team. It certainly shows a bit of intestinal fortitude.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) You dodged that logic like a pro Yas. Naturally, that is the logic I assumed when writing that post. However, I felt it necessary to give you guys a hard time. Consider your obligatory hard time giving as accomplished! Now STFU!
  5. This statement, in itself, is obviously true.
  6. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) We all want to eat that crow and say 'thank you may I have another'...I love Joe...I want to see him start kicking some ass. By the way, I like my crow with a side of collard greens! Not bad, tony. Subtle, but effective.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) Needless to say, they learned their lesson about a live Ozzie interview... That's kinda like playing with matches while sitting on a box of dynamite. BOOM GOES ... ah, forget it!
  8. QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) I agree. Guys on the bench must get some playing time to help the regulars out. About the only argument people can have about Ozzie's "tinkering" would be if a bench guy helped the sox lose a game---I can't wait to see the "Hang Ozzie" contingent spout off then Seeing how the sox two losses had nothing to do with the bench guys, these complaints are silly. That will happen sooner or later. Yet Timo helped win that game and Widger certainly contributed yesterday, as his CERA is currently kick-ass!
  9. This subforum was placed here in an attempt to put all things baseball in one main forum.
  10. I was seeing cracks in Damaso's armor last year, and knowing how relievers seem to come and go, I was an advocate for considering including Marte in the right trade. Of course, I was totally shot down here, but that's ok. That's what makes this board special. I hope he can turn things around to where he was two years ago, but I have a gut feeling he's on a gradual slide.
  11. QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:59 AM) There's a flu bug going around the Sox as well. That also has to factor in who is physically ready to play or not. Overall though, the bench has to get some playing time. Few regulars are going to play 162 games nor should they. I want the sox players as fresh as possible during Aug. and Sept. when most runs for the playoffs are made. I can hear the argument, that 'in order to make the playoffs, the sox need to win before Aug and Sept.'. If the Sox were playing poorly, and losing, then the Sox regulars would see far more playing time, in order to break out of slumps, etc. Yet now's the time when the sox are playing well and winning games, to get the bench involved, and keep the regulars fresh. Too many people are worried about "today's game" and that one only. Ozzie does not have that luxury. He has to "tinker" enough to keep his bench players sharp and his regulars fresh. To complain that Timo is playing in this game, and Ozuna in this and Widger in another is ludicrous. In fact, the moves that Ozzie made were well thought out, as Timo has had success against the pitcher in his game. Podsednik was rested against a tough lefty and AJ was rested on a day game after a night game.
  12. QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) I think that is very true when the sox are playing a team that doesn't beat itself like the Twins. When the sox play teams that kick the ball around, and aren't fundamentally sound, then their margin for error increases and they can still win. The Twins didn't play exceptionally well in that game either. A hanger by Buehrle and a dominant performance by Santana are what decided that game.
  13. But Dusty is such a wonderful "player's manager" !
  14. I can see it now ... Canadien Liberals blame FoxNews and Bill O'Reilly for defeat.
  15. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Wow, just wow... "Women do possess one redeeming role in our society - that of the sexual object." That's just sad.
  16. There were rumors that UVA was going to throw a ton of movey at Tubby Smith. It's been quiet on that front lately. Tubby must have shot them down.
  17. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) What's with these boxscores? How hard is it to put in the innings pitched? They do that just to irritate Canadiens.
  18. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) The bottom of our order really needs to wake up offensively. That's why we are struggling offensively. They will get it going soon.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Any sentence with the words Steve Phillips in it loses all credibility. That sentence has no credibility.
  20. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) It was his fault that he did not remove Shingo after the 2nd jack. But wait, he did not have anyone to go to in the pen. But wait, that was because he had 3 relievers go through one inning despite all 3 looking good.....ding ding ding....yes, that was Ozzie's fault. Yes Shingo blew it, but his manager did him no favors by having someone behind him in case he had an off day. That is what managers do....they manage for the worst case situation. Ozzie failed miserably at it. No. What managers do, or what they should do, is manage with the long haul in mind. For example, he rested AJ today, which you seem to think was a mistake. It's EXACTLY what Ozzie should have done. Why is that? Because it was a day game, after a night game with travel thrown in between the two games. So not only would AJ have had to catch 18 innings within 20 or so hours, but also have to walk through two airports, check in to a hotel, etc. Now, AJ has two days off in a row and a chance to get well rested. Playing Timo, Harris, Ozuna, Widger is the only way to keep these guys sharp. You cannot sit them for two weeks and expect them to produce, regardless of what the schedule says. We have no problem with expressing your opinion on something that you percieve as a mistake. But when you post inane garbage, you will get called out on it around here. You did and you were.
  21. This is just the Tigers trying to instill some confidence in themselves and trying stir up some excitement in Detroit for the fans. Means nothing.
  22. I'd have no problem seeing Hunter in CF for the Sox. I didn't mind seeing Belle, Alomar, Alomar, Lofton, Pierzinski, etc in Sox uniforms.
  23. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) I thought he said "that's because MB pitches for the White Sox, you guys are always in Boston" Whatever he said, it was awesome, Miller was obviously stunned/surprised, a little awkward silence following. You are right about that. There was definitly an uncomfortamble hesitation from the booth after Ozzie said that.
  24. I really hope Joe Crede makes a lot of people eat some healthy portions of crow this year. I, for one, believe he will.
  25. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Anyone think that Morse's suspension last year might have something to do with steroids? It might not be but I wouldn't be surprised. Just pure conjecture, but he was suspended the same time as Ulacia who has had those mutterings swirl around him. There was some speculation on that possiblity rather recently, iirc.
