QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) And I hope all of this stuff gives the Sox a chip on their shoulder. I hope everyone of these articles ends up on a bulletin board in the clubhouse, and they use it to go out and whip some ass. Bulletin board material: 2001 AL Central Final Standings 2002 AL Central Final Standings 2003 AL Central Final Standings 2004 AL Central Final Standings That should take care of any needed bulletin board material.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Why can't they make a good "Movie Theatre Butter" microwave popcorn? Because the people that do that are getting pissed and smoking f**s in Britain.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) I am as big of a Denver Bronco fan as a White Sox fan to be honest. I'd say after John retired I paid more attention to the Sox but now that the White Sox have rid themselves of some of my favorite players-I would say I am a Bronco fan first and foremost. Ban this guy!

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Yeah it was filmed back in 1986 and called About Last Night. Good movie and it featured Demi Moore pre-breast augmentation. ..... which makes it a classic in and of itself. -
Bye the way .... Damn good work and analysis here.

This wasn't Jayson Stark's opinion of things.

Kenny must have made his "3 year board" last year.

I love it. Burns vs. Garland. He didn't agree with the results, so he just tossed those aside. :rolly

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) First part of your comment, I disagree with you 100%. You have to spend your entire life in Chicago to understand why it is wrong to root for both teams. I do agree with you on the second part. I grew up in Chicago. I know exactly what it is all about. In 1969 I was 11 years old, so believe me, I've lived it. It is not "wrong" to root for both teams. Misguided, maybe. Unusual, yes. Nothing "wrong" about it.
-
There is no reason in the world why some can't root for both teams. If you choose not to, fine. But to lambaste an new poster because you are filled with misguided arrogance is moronic.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) He's not a Troll?? Ohh Yeah Right He comes up with this Stupid Idea and he's not a troll. He knows we got rid of Robbie in the Firstplace. DUH! Josh ... take a chill pill, buddy. It was a tongue-in-cheek post. I thought it was quite a clever one. C'mon. New poster ... cracks a joke ... and you hit him with the angry-f***you-smilie and TROLL. Let's give these a guys chance before we draw and quarter them.

Glad it's a done deal.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Yasny, I have a question for you. Say you were in Harris' position. Obviously, Harris wasn't confident last year, and that's evident. Your standing on first base, and Ozzie gives you the steal sign. At this point, you have no confidence in your leadoff, your first step to second, reading the pitcher. At that point, aren't you thinking to yourself, "Should I just not steal, and have the chance to get driven in, or should I steal anyways, and -- who knows, upon my speed alone, I might make it, but I'm really not confident right now, so who knows..." (Yeah, like someone would think that to themselves... My bad -- dips*** sign to me) Anyways -- I know this is a poor comparison, but I play high school basketball (varsity, at that). And, sometimes my coach will want me to put up a shot, even when I'm not shooting that well, or when I'm in a slump. So, it's basically a split second decision for me -- shoot it, knowing I'm not real confident at this point and it probably won't go in, or hang on to it, look for a better shot, and take the possibility that I may get ripped into by my coach when I come off the floor. Sometimes the coach ... manager ... boss ... whatever the case may be .... is willing to risk the moment for the long hual. They want to see what you are made of. They want to see if they can count on you in the future with having to be concerned if you are worried you'll "look bad". Again, that's Willie's problem .. it's all about Willie. I don't know what the reasons were, and neither do you. But, you have a guy like Ozzie ... who had double digit years as a ML ballplayer and a few as a coach .... the benefit of the doubt over a young cocky inexperienced ballplayer.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) When Harris was benched, right around the beginning of July, he was hitting .275 with a .351 OBP. If that's considered not producing, than I'd venture to say at least five other guys (starters) on the team weren't "producing" either... Again. We don't know everything. Maybe Willie was benched because he was given the steal sign and didn't go. Maybe he was the cause of some clubhouse turmoil. We don't know this stuff.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Molto, I read it really positively, like Harris accepts that there is competition but just wants a chance. Unfortunately hes already been character assasinated so badly, that anything he says will turn out to be "egotistical", etc. SB I don't think there is anything wrong with what Willie said in that article. He's a frustrated young man and has had his pride hurt. But Willie should have swallowed his pride earlier and stopped thinking he was the s***. He had so many signs THAT WE KNOW OF. He had Rowand as an example. Their situations we so very similar.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Crede certainly isn't speedy, I'm guessing he's greedy, for sure he's needy of a big season. This thread is getting seedy.
