  1. Read todays Chicago area papers, folks. The honeymoon is over. As one scribe stated, "You're not lovable losers anymore. Just losers"
  2. Apparently, Sosa showed up two hours late to the game, packed his stuff and bailed. He was as responsible for the Cubs collapse as anyone. But, as always with Sosa, it's all about him. He showed his true colors to all those adoring Cub fans and those colors are yellow on yellow. Quitter, coward, cheat. Now there's a legacy all Cub fans can be proud of. He's their hero!
  3. Can I get a mod to delete or merge this thread?
  4. I would call Marte's 2004 performance "acceptable". Not the Marte we are used to, but not bad. I hope this season was an aberration and he returns to form in '05.
  5. I don't think he'd take that chance again. Even Sosa is not that stupid. Is he?
  6. None taken. But I do watch BBTN and SC a lot. So I'd rather the BoSox lose to the Angels.
  7. OMG ... Can you imagine what Gammons would be like all of 2005? No way on the BoSox.
  8. The Cardinals have been my second favorite team for a long time, so I'm pulling for them. That could change if (more likely when) I move to tha Dallas area. I'll start pulling for the Rangers, I'm sure. However, I will ALWAYS be a Sox fan, first and foremost.
  9. Does anyone KNOW the answer to this?
  10. Rex, you've already realized it. You don't begin to get smart until you realize how much you don't know. Thanks for that post.
  11. There are two seasons. The baseball season and the off season. That's it.
  12. If you can agree with that, why are you so anxious to give up on Crede? Do you know how hard it is to find a 3B that can lock down the position for several years, play defense well and still be productive at the plate? I checked your profile and I see you are 18. That explains a lot me when I read your posts. I'm not saying this is a negative, because you obviously know quite a bit about baseball. However, I also know (I was 18 once, too) that most younger people, especially in this day and age, are more used to instant gratification rather than patience and persistant effort and achievement. You also have that very 18-year-old-like attitude that you know this or that and that is the definitive answer. You'll discover that somethings take time to evolve, and then only if someone has some stick-to-it-ivness. You'll also learn that you don't know nearly as much as you think you do. Don't take this as an insult in any way, because it's not meant that way. It's just someone who has some real life experience talking to you. Basically, I'm hoping you step back, open your mind and learn to listen to some of the older, more experienced people in your life. I guarantee you that you won't regret it. These baseball discussions can be fun and interesting, but qwerty, you can learn a little as opposed to just trying to convince everyone you are right. Again, please take this in the spirit in which it is intended.
  13. I'm done. This is being blown all out of proportion. What CBS did was so much worse than what happened on Fox. Period. Out.
  14. CBS ran a totally inaccurate story without checking the facts. The Fox thing was wrong, on the part of one individual. But it damn sure wasn't a lead story on their news.
  15. Article from Daily Southtown This is kinda cool. Enjoy.
  16. After the Cubs' colossal collapse in the 2003 NLCS, I made a post during the offseason saying that the Cubs chokehold on the city of Chicago was not going to last. I based that on the fact that the Cub fans would stop accepting the lovable loser thing and that Wrigley Field would soon have to be demolished. We all know about the falling chunks of concrete at the urinal, so that is the beginning of the end of that dump. Now, in today's column by Barry Rozner, I find this: EDIT: To add this from Mike Imrem ....
  17. The difference is ... at Fox, some reporter was trying to be funny and it ended getting posted on a website. At CBS ... they led with their inxorrect story on the national network news, not a cable new station, but one of the big over-the-air broadcast networks. There's a big f***ing difference.
  18. Let's just sign Metheny and fotget about all this.

    Crede

I believe that's exactly what will happen. Though he'll be better than he has been prior to this year. He won't be MVP quality.
