  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) I think he has a very good chance to land in the AL Central. I am going to guess you mean you think he ends up in Detroit? At least that is where I think he might end up, and if so bring it on because as Kalapse said, whoever signs him will regret it in the not too distant future.
  2. Well first off, one stereotype that is true is the noise level in Ann Arbor. With as quiet as Michigan Stadium is, it should be called "The Big Mouse" in my opinion (no idea why I find that nickname funny, but oh well). Also, the Wisconsin marching band is in trouble yet again. I think Wisconsin is the only school in America whose band has more off the field troubles than it's players. The band was suspended for tonight's big home game vs. Ohio State. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/10/04/...d-Suspended.php
  3. I will probably always wear baggier pants and longer shorts just for comfort factor. I might end up looking completely out of it in terms of style, but oh well. That, and I don't want to look like a girl.
  4. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:56 AM) If the regular season doesn't count at all like you say,why can't we bust through against the Devil Rays Because they are about 10 times better than we are.
  5. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) win at home and roll the Dice in Game 5...lets do it!! What he said.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) I agree it seemed like Tuesday was our WS. It was a great night, but if it was our WS then at least admit we gave up on the big picture without CQ. Somebody told me to not blame injuries in one thread. Well are we simply admitting with CQ we had a shot and without him merely outlasting the Twinks was our WS?? You can't have it both ways. I truly think we could have and should have won today and agree with the Trib columnist that the Rays do not look like a 97 win team right now. We had them today early but refused to open a massive lead like they would have opened on us had our starter loaded the bases with no outs. It would have been lame to blame the injuries had we not won the division, because even with the injuries, we were the best team. But I think any sane person would admit that this team was flawed even if CQ, Crede, Contreras, etc were healthy, let alone with them not around. Hard to win in October as it is (I don't know how well we'd have done if healthy, but who knows), it's even harder with key people injured.
  7. Fool me once, shame on you.......... I am not giving up yet. We're coming home for two, and we have Floyd and Danks on the bump. If we can hit some home runs like we do here in Chicago, you never know. Plus, if game 5 ever happens, I expect Buehrle to redeem himself (although he wasn't bad today, just got no support and was left in too long, but you know what I mean). I know the odds are against us and the chances we pull it off are slim, but who the hell knows. Let's repeat what happened last week.
  8. QUOTE (aprec32 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) I really enjoy when he gets knocked around........I wish J.D. Drew pointed to the sky and freaked out once he hit that home run. K-Rod has really lost a lot of zip on his fastball over the years, and he's starting to hang more and more breaking balls as time goes on. His career is going to take a precipitous fall in the near future. Red Sox win. The sooner people realize the regular season DOES NOT MATTER once the calendar turns to October, the better. But a lot of people still don't get it, so maybe they never will.
  9. We're a flawed team playing a superior oppoent. Like fathom said, hopefully we make it fun at home, but we knew this was an imperfect team coming in. It almost seems like Tuesday was our World Series. Kenny has some work to do this offseason, but I think he realizes that and hopefully he'll get it done. But hopefully we hit some home runs and win a couple at home before that.
  10. Brooks Boyer just said on WSCR that all fans should continue to wear black throughout the postseason, the White Sox are calling it the "rolling blackout". Keep that in mind if you are heading to the Cell for game 3 and/or 4! They are also giving away white rally towels for both games as a contrast to the hopefully 40 thousand black shirts.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) And had a 2 games lead over the Twins, than they won the next 2. Fin. So the Twins won the next two because they lost by a closer margin due to Paniagua? Awesome, love the logic. DODGERS WIN, ha.
  12. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:41 PM) YES, the favorite part of the broadcast for me. Random shots of Cubs fans with sad facial gestures while rubbing their hands over their faces. HAHAHAH. Maybe we'll have a camera shot of someone crying! HAHA so true.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) People always suggest this when teams battle back late, but time and time again it's proven that these moral victories don't matter. It's still a loss, and they'll be down 2-0 going to LA. Correct. That is why I really am embarassed when people look back at the Paniagua game and blame it for the 2003 late season nightmare. It had nothing to do with that, we still won that game.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:32 PM) Joe Torre is an incredible in-game manager. He assuredly put Saito in there for a reason, and will know what to do with him in the future. Oh I agree. There is a reason we saw him tonight and not last night.
  15. Saito is awful against the Cubs. Torre might want to remember that if this is close in game 3.
  16. Wood getting in on the act now too. Just a comprehensive disaster for the Cubs the last two nights.
  17. The Cubs are 0-8 all time in playoff games west of the Chicago city limits. So that is another fact not in their favor.
  18. Manny is just amazing. Even Marmol is getting hit tonight.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) So did the league just figure Fukodome out, or was he never really that good? He's worse than Nick Swisher. And that's pretty bad. He has never been able to adjust to the scouting report that got out there about him after a few weeks. It's not all that uncommon to see something like that happen to somebody. Somebody posted this on the Cubs board:
  20. Javy is a mediocre innings eater until it matters, at which point he becomes a pathetic choke artist. I REALLY hope we don't see him starting again this postseason, and I also hope he's traded this offseason. He's a total waste of talent as he does nothing despite having great stuff, and it's annoying as hell to watch him pitch. Not much more needs to be said.
  21. A good dose of patience from our hitters along with Mark being Mark on the mound should be good enough in this game. Let's hope we see both of those things happen tomorrow.
  22. Outside of Uribe and Cabrera's at bats in the 7th inning, there isn't much to be upset or surprised about in regards to today's game. Just have to BE PATIENT with Kazmir, hope Mark does what he usually does, and come home with a 1-1 series.
  23. C.C. just ran out of gas tonight. So much for the Brewers, only question now is how many games will it take for Philly to finish it off.
  24. That's how it goes. Uribe had his chance on the 1st pitch, just missed it, now he's out. Time for OC to make up for his first two at bats.
