  1. The pitch calls were poor to Gomez and Span, but don't just blame A.J. Jenks threw both of them cookies while he was way ahead of the count. The pitch calls were bad, but the location was just as bad.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) It was like we were waiting for them to catch up. If they lose this, the part that will keep me up tonight is how we didn't throw an 0-2 hook to either Gomez or Span. Nothing is going to keep me up about this series if we get swept. We've just choked all series long outside of Mark Buehrle and are getting what we deserve. They HANDED us that big inning and 5 run lead and we still blew it.
  3. This would easily be our most painful loss since Carlos Guillen layed down a squeeze in the 2000 postseason. You can blame the damn umpires if you want, but the offense was handed the majority of the 6 runs we scored in the 4th by the Twins and has been silent since. You knew we were going to blow this after we blew chances for more in the 6th and 7th.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 01:18 PM) Be careful. USC was beaten their last trip to Corvallis in 2006 33-31, and the trip before that in 2004 saw USC need to rally for two touchdowns in the 4th quarter to win 28-20. I understand history is not the be all, end all, but I would avoid a 26 point favorite on the road at a place where they've had some trouble recently. Indeed, even a dummie like me knew that was a bad bet. Now, the question is whether Oregon State can hang on for the win.
  5. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 04:48 AM) The girl will not leave him alone, so he will have to resort to drastic measures to get her to leave her alone. I think i typed this sentence pretty well for being drunk. That is correct, and apologies for saying jockin, but it was the only way I could think of to describe it. But yeah, you are 110 percent correct in your assesment of my post, other than the 2nd her should be a him. In fact, drastic measures were taken this morning. I felt bad being an absolute jerk, but it had to be done and I feel safe in saying she will leave me alone now.
  6. They boo him for the same reason everybody else in baseball does, it's the cool thing to do. Twins fans of all people are the last ones that should boo him, but whatever.
  7. I've been to just about all of the famous, really good football venues here in the midwest, so keeping that in mind, my list would be: 1. LSU 2. Florida 3. Texas 4. Penn State 5. USC/Florida State tie I've been to Miami (Orange Bowl), Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, obviously the 3 here in Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, and South Florida. So I'm very lucky, although there are more than the 6 I listed on my to do list that I'd like to go to.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Oregon State is getting 26 tomorrow. I'll still take USC... Be careful. As for DBAHO, yeah go check out a UConn home game. They are a solid, rising program and have a 4-0 record so far this year.
  9. This girl won't stop jockin me. It was cute at first, but now she is just driving me f***ing nuts. I am going to have to be a b**** to her I think, which I hate doing, but it has to be done here.
  10. It would be hard to argue that it's a choke if we lose tomorrow. To get swept by an average team playing below average baseball like the Twins can't be described as anything but a choke, even with as average as we are and playing below average as we are. Let's see what happens tomorrow though, going to wait for that before I go crazy.
  11. Floyd has done it in big games all year. Now, with the season on the line, he has to do it one more time. EDIT: I'll save the sad/angry speech for if we actually lose tomorrow. Hope I don't need to pull it out.
  12. I put it in the vent thread, but Dye needs to be benched even with as s***ty as our other options are. And moreso, f*** YOU CARLOS QUENTIN. I know he saved our season for large, long stretches, but what kind of f***ing dumbass hurts himself punching a bat? Damn that hurts, we win games like tonight with him around. The good news is we're still ok if we win tomorrow, and we have our stopper on the mound in Floyd. He better pitch lights out though, because we aren't going to score much and a loss means we're pretty much dead.
  13. I really don't want to watch, but I will.
  14. f*** Carlos Quentin for injuring himself by being a dumbass. Games like tonight might go the other way if we have him. And Jermaine Dye needs to be benched, he's been useless for several weeks now. Problem is, the replacement options aren't good either.
  15. To all out suspend the campaign is so shocking and unprecedented that it almost has to be looked at as a desperate move. Then again, the Palin move was certainly something that could be perceived as desperate and it gave him a huge bounce so maybe this will work too. I think leadership would have been just going back to Washington and/or issuing a joint statement with Obama. To flat out suspend the campaign seems desperate due to how drastic, bizarre, and unprecedented it is.
  16. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) Obama is currently saying No to delaying debates. Of course. The economic collapse of the last couple of weeks is the best thing to happen to his campaign. That might seem a bit crude to say, but the poll numbers don't lie. He's on fire right now and believes the debates will only help him (and he's probably right).
  17. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) We have better choices this year. I think we have one good choice and one not as good choice, but still much better than the GOP's recent nominees. I'm just not buying this crisis as a crisis. CNN: Obama called McCain at 8:30 AM to talk about issuing a joint statement. Based on the reaction to the bailout bill both in congress (from BOTH parties amazingly enough) and among the American people, I think most agree with your comment in the bold.
  18. QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) 1-877-KARS 4 KIDS ! DONATE YOUR CAR TODAY!!! How about 773 202 *dialing sound 4 times* LUNA!!!!!
  19. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) Obama and McCain will release a joint statement about this. If they are actually working together, during the course of a heated campaign, this says mountains about the choices we have this year. Do you think we would have heard about this in 2004? Or 2000? Or any election in recent memory? I agree, it would be refreshing if they are working together on this. Question is, does that mean we actually have two decent choices this time, or is it a sign of just how dire the economy is?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) No, that wasn't who he was talking about, as he said the two OBP guys that were acquired both were disappointing this season. I thought he meant OC, and I pointed out this his OBP was mediocre in his career. Ahh ok. Maybe I should read the whole thread before posting next time.
  21. I thought suspending your campaign means you are dropping out of the race? Somebody explain this to me, PLEASE. I am baffled by this.
  22. What the hell? This makes no sense to me. What a bizarre decision.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) You said we brought in 2 OBP guys this offseason. Who's the other guy besides Swisher? Quentin. He had a long history of OBP awesomeness in the minor leagues and even a dummy like me predicted he's finish with a very high OBP this year.
  24. The 1st to 3rd speed crap is BS. We could use more balance as a team, but our biggest problem up there is "between the ears". For the most part, they've got us beat before the first pitch in games up there because we let them. Until we get into a better mental mindset going up there, we are going to struggle.
  25. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) Anyway, I love Famous Amos cookies My 2nd favorite Amos of all time, only behind former West Virginia and Pittsburgh Steelers great running back Amos Zereoue.
