Similar bills in Arizona (Prop 102) and Florida (Amendment 2) passed, and unlike in California, they both passed very easily. Yesterday was a good day to be an Obama supporter, but a bad day to be gay.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) I don't think his healthcare reform is going to pass as is even with a Dem Congress. If he learned from Clinton he's not going to push something controversial early in his term. He won't govern with some radical left-wing agenda (unless he's an idiot, and clearly he is not) because he is looking at 2 terms, and this is still fundamentally a center-right country. Also, IMO the first thing he will push is alternative energy, that's something there is a near-consensus on. What he said.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) Jindal certainly has a chance to be a president so it is possible that an Indian will be the next minority to be president. I would say that an openly homosexual candidate would have no chance to win the presidency and probably won't for some time. Same with someone who is Middle Eastern. Agreed on all counts, especially Jindal.

He's been VERY poor defensively the last two years in RF, and I'd have a hard time arguing Mr. Dewan's point. He does compensate though with his bat, that's for sure.

Ball State faces their toughest opponent to date tomorrow night. Hopefully my Huskies can pull off the upset. -
I wish he had just been himself in this campaign. He wouldn't have won, as the GWB mountain was impossible to overcome, and I wish he had realized that and not tried to be something else to get into the White House. However, I still have incredible respect for him and will ALWAYS wonder how different our country would be today had the republicans picked John McCain instead of George W. Bush in 2000.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Chicago projects 160,000+ PSH. The White Sox drew almost 2 million for the parade in 2005.

This country NEEDS Barack Obama to do exceedingly well at his job. The last 8 years (moreso the last 6 years, but you know what I mean) have not been good at all. In fact, it could be argued (I think this is the case) that the Bush administration is the biggest reason for the incredible gains the democrats made tonight. However..... We NEED Obama to succeed. Our country needs somebody to help bring improvement. All of us who consider race to be irrelevant in regards to who a person is need Barack Obama to do well, because every black/biracial politician for the rest of our lives will be compared to him. Barack Obama as president shatters many racial barries, but I think Barack Obama as a GOOD president would shatter almost all of them, and that is something that I consider very important. We need him to continue to use his gift of public speaking to win over world leaders and help us gain some respect out there. We need him to be willing to compromise and realize that things need to get done that will require both parties support. I know where I stand in that I disagree with some of the things Barack Obama believes and plans to do. But one thing that wasn't overstated or overrated in this process was that this is as important an election as we've had in decades. And I for one hope and pray that Barack Obama proves the doubters (like me) wrong. And although I know he'll need help, I hope he can be the leader that helps us dig out of the holes built throughout this decade. I would never enjoy eating crow more than if that happens.

QUOTE (SnB @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) i found one of those old school mini nfl helmet vending machines today. Anyone else collect those as a kid? I GOT THE RAVENS Hell yeah. I had all 30 of them, and it was exciting when I got the Jacksonville and Carolina ones since they were the brand new teams. I didn't know they brought those machines back.

If he's in the bullpen in 2009, I start to wonder if there is ANY market for Boone Logan. It hasn't worked out here, but he's young, left handed, and throws hard.

I came into this game thinking the Bears could win and still be in trouble because it's a very bad sign if they have a tough time with the Lions. Not only did they have a tough time with the Lions, but Orton may have suffered a very serious injury to boot. If there is such thing as a painful victory, today's game was it. And damn, if that hail mary is thrown about 2 inches lower, Calvin Johnson catches it and people riot. -

If Orton is out for a long period of time, the season might be over. They can't win with Rex, this offensive line in terms of run blocking, and this defense. -

And now Orton is hurt and the cart is coming out. Could it be Rex time? This just gets worse and worse. -
It should be a priority, it's proven and irrefutable fact that Vazquez can be nothing but a detriment in September and October for a playoff type team due to his lack of mental strength. At the same time, he does put up decent numbers at the end of the day so you should be able to get something for him.

Program prestige means nothing now with 85 scholarship limits and all the games on television. It's all about who the coach is, because the only thing that makes or doesn't make a program long term in today's college football is the coach. -

It's a good thing Angelo gave all these washed up, old defensive players extensions and new money before the season! If you are firing Babich at halftime, don't forget to do the same to Angelo. -
This is a great idea, however I was talking to a close friend of mine who lives in Southern California (she is participating in this drill actually), and we agreed on something. This drill is a great idea, and could be an effective test run assuming a bigger earthquake hits in the near future. However, we agreed that it's always questionable how effective this will be in the sense that you never know how people will react under extreme circumstances. And as much as we hate to think about it, a lot of people would panic if something like this happened, especially in heavily populated Southern California. I hope the drill goes well though, and moreso I hope "the big one" doesn't come anytime soon.

Carrie Underwood might be the hottest/prettiest/most attractive/most beautiful/etc woman I have ever seen, not to mention she's sold like 38 trillion records. I'm really not sure what the hell Tony Romo was thinking screwing that thing up.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) I want to punch people in the face when they b**** about the name change. With the improvements to the ballpark, increase in the payroll, and the World Championship, I can't imagine ANYBODY still b****es about the name change. I haven't heard a peep about it since probably March or April of 2005 to be honest, if not longer ago than that.

IIRC, Amare was a little slow when he first came back for good from the surgery. So I'd be a bit patient with Greg when you consider that and the fact he's a rookie. -

That's pretty close to what I expect to be an average game from Derrick Rose this year, and I have no problem with that because I thought he looked good tonight. I actually liked the rotation tonight too (although when the time comes that the bigs have foul trouble, you'll see some Aaron Gray I'm sure). It's a shame they can't just make Larry Hughes go away. Hinrich looked good tonight, although he won't always shoot that well obviously, Ben seemed to enjoy the open looks Derrick helped him get, and game 1 of the Tyrus Thomas resurgence project was a success. -
This is a classic KW low risk, high reward move. Regardless of it's outcome, I like the thought behind it.

2008 World Series - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays

I try to avoid the use of hyperboles under all circumstances, but the World Series ending like that would have been the biggest disaster in the sport since the Black Sox. Thank God Tampa Bay tied it.
