  1. Not surprising. He's a horrible person and only a horrible person would put something like that on his young daughter when it was his own mistake.
  2. Penn State wins 13-6 at Ohio State, and is now in the driver seat to go 12-0 this season. The Ohio State defense did a much better job than I would have ever expected, but the Buckeyes offense just couldn't do much. Actually, neither offense did much, but the difference in the game was Pryor's fumble which led to the evening's only touchdown. Even though Ohio State does have some big game wins in recent years such as the Texas and Michigan games in 2006, tonight won't do much to help their national reputation as big game chokers the last few years.
  3. NIU with another big win today, 16-13 vs. Bowling Green on a last second field goal in very windy conditions. We're 4-0 at home and 4-1 in league play now (5-3 overall). HUGE game at Ball State in about a week and a half. Also, Navy beat SMU 34-7 today. They did not throw a pass either, first 1-A team in 11 years to achieve such a feat. Navy ran the ball 77 times for 404 yards and threw no passes. Amazing. As for the big games today, Georgia wins a shockingly high scoring game at LSU by 14, Texas Tech and Oklahoma both looked very good, and it sounds like Texas just survived against Oklahoma State. It amazes me Texas has made it this far unbeaten with that schedule, and it gets even more difficult next week playing at Texas Tech.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) I see the GOP is already building its themes for after the election. Daley's machine is corrupt, no doubt about it. And there is plenty of corruption elsewhere in Chicago politics. Look at our governor. But I can tell you, from personal experience, that not EVERYONE is corrupt and evil. You can take the cop-out route and believe that if you want, because its easier. But it just isn't the case. In fact, in terms of state reps and senators, I am confident that the majority of them in IL are pretty clean, and truly want to do things for their districts and their state. Illinois is home to the most corrupt city (Chicago) and state government in the United States, and it's really not even close. You can call it "building themes", but it's reality. I don't believe every person in government in this state is bad, but the government overall is as fraudulent as it gets.
  5. Considering Hinrich can't play point, if we're honest with ourselves, the Bulls have two shooting guards that we know can't shoot in Hinrich and Hughes. Could be three if Sefolosha doesn't show anything this year, although he will hopefully.
  6. Yeah, for all the reasons you hear about why you should be afraid of Obama, the only REAL reason I think you should legitimately worry about him in power is the fact he's a product of the machine. I don't think most people outside of Illinois have any idea how bad the Chicago and Illinois governments are, and although I don't like playing guilt by association, I am forced to do so with ANY politician from this area, regardless of political affiliation.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) We're in Illinois. "Legal" is an irrelevant, non-existent term. Fixed.
  8. Obama wins a squeaker, and John McCain spends the rest of his life regretting the Sarah Palin pick that cost him the presidency.
  9. This ad really shows the desperation level of the McCain campaign at the moment. It's REALLY sad to see, but "vote for us or die" is almost becoming a playbook message from the GOP. Not to mention it takes a quote out of context even more than usually seen in politics. The bigger issue here is I think regardless of who wins, the terrorist will test them. Look at the timing of the 1993 WTC bombing and 9/11, both happened within months of inauguration day (in the case of the 1993 bombing, within weeks). I wish I could just vote for "neither" on the presidential portion of the ballot.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) Everytime BTN plays a Michigan game, it's one when they lose. Playing the 99 game vs. MSU with the phantom clock. How about the game vs. MSU where Braylon goes off? Penn State lost an undefeated season and a chance at a national championship in 2005 thanks to a phantom clock at Michigan Stadium. I think they have an even bigger beef than Michigan did in 1999.
  11. Hawks up 3-0 after 2 periods against the 4-0-0 Edmonton Oilers. Impressive.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) Well...here's the other way of looking at it...he's going to go from playing 40 games last season to 82-90 games this season to hopefully pushing 100+ games in the next couple seasons. This isn't like a baseball pitcher where they're doing something that is unnatural to their body and if they do it too much their shoulder might break down. Push him until he hits the wall, then let him work through the wall. Well it's not unnatural, but it's still exhausting. He's going to play in twice as many games this season than last (at least, maybe more if they make the playoffs) and you have to be very careful in my opinion. By this time in 2010, I think the minutes thing won't be an issue since he'll still be in his early 20's and have two NBA seasons under his belt, but I've seen enough first and second year guys hit the wall in the NBA that I just would prefer to see more prudent use of Rose. If they are playing him 37 minutes in the preseason, I worry it'll be 47 during the regular season, and as much as they need Derrick on the floor, you could just grind him into the ground that way. Last night is especially bad too since it does nothing to prepare him for the season considering it was a preseason game, and most of the guys on the floor in the 2nd half for both sides were reserves/scrubs.
  13. I don't know if what happens in the video or the music in the background is funnier, but this is hilarious stuff.
  14. http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-bl...ou_want_to.html I hate people like this, absolutely hate them. They make the rationally religious (who are the vast majority of religious people) look bad, plus it could be argued that using non-existent bible verses to try and win a game shows you aren't a real Christian anyways IMO. This girl is amazing though, 14 years old and she can kick 50 yard field goals. Anybody regardless of gender that can kick a 50 yard field goal at age 14 is talented, and if she is consistent at all, I'd have to guess she will get looks for a college scholarship.
  15. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 07:57 AM) In a preseason game? Seriously? He's going to play much more basketball this year than he ever has in his life as it is. To play him 37 and a half minutes in a game that doesn't even count is asinine, you should be doing as much as you can to keep him fresh, especially during the preseason. He played 10 more minutes than anybody else on the team last night, stupid.
  16. The Steelers are amazingly underrated. The league is desperately looking for a very good team, and I think that team might be the Steelers, especially if they can ever get healthy at tailback. Their biggest weakness is pass blocking, but Big Ben does a pretty good job covering for that, outside of the Philly game.
  17. It's really inexcuseable how many minutes Rose played tonight. He looked fantastic though.
  18. The Rays will lose one because of the exhaustion of the Red Sox series and the Phillies will win one because they aren't a bad squad. Overall, it should be a pretty good series to watch, but Rays in six as they'll clinch at Tropicana Field. It's still the AL vs. the NL though, and I'd be shocked if the Rays don't take the crown.
  19. As for Boston, they never quit, but you can only dig out of your own grave so many times.
  20. The kid (Price) did it, the kids (Rays) did it. As I said when the Sox did it last month, it's rare you see a team so close to collapsing, yet find a way to avoid it. Congrats to the Rays on the pennant, and f*** BOSTON.
  21. Boy I'm not sure if that was a change or slider but it was NASTY.
  22. It seems like every Boston hitter is just going up there to foul off pitches until they walk.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) A random Bears note: If the horrific injury bug continues at CB this week with Peanut, Vasher, and McBride all injured, I would hope they play Zackary Bowman a bit (although if all 3 are out, I think they'd have to play him at least some). I liked him when he was drafted, and think he can play some corner. Well he had a tackle, an assist, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and the game clinching interception. Not a bad first game, if nothing else.
  24. This series has really turned into an all time classic, regardless of who wins.
