QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 6, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) Give him a couple months and people will be screaming for him to be fired. Nah, not even a chicken little like me could call for Coop to be fired. He's proven he is very good when he has something to work with.

Craig Steltz...your starting job is waiting

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 6, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) my heart just skipped a beat when I read the thread title. I thought it was mike brown. Glad it's not. Good Riddence Arch! Don't worry, Brown will wait until the first or second regular season game to show why he's the football version of Mark Prior. I don't think Steltz is going to be anything in the NFL, but he can't be worse than Archuleta. -

AAP: Fernando Hernandez, Jr.
whitesoxfan101 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Adopt-a-Prospects - Closed
After being a rule 5 pick of Oakland, the Sox were able to re-attain Hernandez's rights last month after 3 innings of unsuccessful work with the A's. Fernando is 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA in 7 games at Birmingham. He's allowed 3 hits in 8.2 innings, a solo HR, has 5 walks to go with 9 k's, a 2.40 GO/AO, and sterling .103 average against. -
Lets Give Floyd a Standing Ovation
whitesoxfan101 replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Taking Floyd out was obvious. The no hitter was gone, he didn't have a shutout, he was over 100 pitches, it was a big lead, he has never thrown a ton of innings in a season, and Jenks needed work badly. That was an obvious and correct move. -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) THE DOLLS WORKED! HAHAHAHA Atleast we'l have something legitimate to distract the media off that non story from earlier today. I hope we get "hotter than s***" as Lee Ellia once put it. To see the "rally sex doll" controversy/arguments here would be gold.

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) I can't believe this is what we turned Freddy Garcia into. Awesome Gavin! Hey, we got Gio too, who helped us get Nick Swisher, who long term is going to be a very solid OF/1B for us. That one was quite the trade. -
If the pitching continues as it has been all year, we have to win SOME games at least. No offense is bad enough to waste pitching as good as ours has been long term.

Pisses me off that if Anderson is in CF like he should have been in that spot, he'd be one out from a no hitter. MEH!! However, as for Gavin, he's been great all year and was again tonight. Kudos. -
Indiana / North Carolina primary election thread

To me, Hillary has to win by more in IN than she loses by in NC to be able to spin this, and I'm not sure if that is going to happen. -
The Phoenix Suns offense can't be run without a DOMINANT point guard (heck, the Hornets system looks a lot like Phoenix these days). You can say whatever you want, but D'Antoni in Chicago would have no shot at working until we got a great point guard, and right now we don't even have an average one.

White Sox Clubhouse and Sex Dolls

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) But if you believe in women's rights, wouldn't you agree that they shouldn't be subjected to that doll in the workplace? At the designated time set aside by MLB and the franchise for reporters to be in the lockerroom, a female reporter has every bit of right to be comfortable as Jermaine Dye does. At that designated time, it is both of their place of work. Part of the women's rights movements was the inclusion of sexual harassment laws in the workplace to help them gain equality and respect in their careers. A blow up doll with bats in it is no less sexual harassment than having pornography posted on the walls. It's not right, now matter how you shave it. Yeah that's a good point. I still would say the locker room is full of pigs, and women probably should expect to see weird s*** like this even as two friends of mine who are women and write about sports said. However, a blow up doll and pornography, which is the objectification of real, live women is nowhere near the same thing. I guess women in the press shouldn't be subjected to it, but if some male's such as Tex are going to be THIS offended, maybe they shouldn't be subjected to it either. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) I have no problem with them doing this s*** behind closed doors. I also don't think I should be told to stop following sports because I'd like the White Sox to keep it behind doors. Had this "shrine" been removed before reporters came in, like any f***ing team that was run properly would make sure is done, this wouldn't be an issue because we wouldn't know about it. Oh I agree it SHOULD have been kept behind closed doors, and I agree it wasn't because the team wasn't run properly in that regard. My issue is that some people seem to think things like this never should happen. The impression TexSox and Carol Slezak and so on give (excuse me while I go into extreme assumption mode like he has all thread) is that this is evil and violating doll rights and women and children all over the world should hate the Sox now that it should never happen, not even behind closed doors. And although, again, I don't agree with what was done, that is just silly. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) It's extreme to expect adults to act in a manner that the youngest fans can view? The youngest fans aren't in the locker room, and to expect people to always act in a way everybody can view is ridiculous. Besides, any kid who looks up to athletes as a role model has some misguided parents to allow them to do so since none of us (or very few) have actually met the athletes. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) That was the argument in the 1970s and 1980. Guys will be guys and no one is really hurt when an off color joke is told in the workplace. No one is really hurt when we comment on a coworkers breasts. No one is really hurt when the boss asks an employee out repeatedly. Like it or not, an employer or employee cannot draw a circle around part of the workplace and say laws do not apply. The fact they were in Canada only means Canadian laws apply. And yes, some industries have special exemptions. Your kidding right? There is a big, big, big difference between a doll, simulated acts or not, and commenting on a real persons breasts and asking co-workers out. A huge difference. I can't believe you actually just made that comparison. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) Well that ain't happenin'! I'll still be frothing at the mouth for 9 innings of White Sox baseball tonight. I just felt when I initially brought up the other side that it merited discussion. I really didn't mean to be the champion of women's rights trying to overthrow the climate of baseball players as pigs, though that'd be ideal. Everything building up, with Ozzie yet again ripping fans and the media, and now this, drawing national attention. I'm just sick of the act like a 15 year old atmosphere and the White Sox generally being the laughing stock franchise of Major League Baseball. Again, if you don't like and especially can't handle the act like a 15 year old atmosphere and sophmoric humor, don't follow sports because that is what it is like in every locker room there is. This certainly is a topic that merits discussion, and it can merit disagreeing with what was done. But to take this to the extreme that people like TexSox and Carol Slezak are is pretty ridiculous, you'd swear rape and sodomy were committed on an actual woman when a stupid joke involving a blow up doll and a bat to try and loosen up a team is what really happened. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) But the majority is defending it. If you don't want nor support this image the White Sox are portraying, why do you defend it? Because people have the right to be stupid in our fine country, even if we don't agree with it. Nobody is being hurt or threatened by having a stupid blow up doll in the locker room with some bats to try and bust a slump. If people want to interpret it as this terrible thing, that's fine, but in reality it's not. It's just another case of pro athletes being what they are (pigs), and if that bothers you, that's fine, just don't follow sports. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) It is a 100+ year tradition that has to go. Have an interview room off to the side. Now this I agree with 150 percent. Leave the locker room to the people who inhabit it several hours a day, the players. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) OK. I guess sodomy with latex dolls is in You can sodomize a doll, something of which isn't a living thing? As I've said, I personally wouldn't do something like this, but your just going way over the top with your literal look at something that involves an inflatable doll. I don't think anybody was promoting sodomy here, they were trying to do something stupid to loosen up an obviously tight clubhouse. It obviously didn't work, and it was not something I'd do, but your just going way over the top with how big a deal this is. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) I'd rather be on this side, then defending the need to simulate perverted sex acts in a sport that has a declining fan base, especially among children. If that's the image that the majority of Sox fans support, it's really sad. I hope they recreate it for Bring Your Daughter To Work Day! Declining fan base? Baseball is on pace to set an attendace record this year for the 5th straight time, after having an all time record for spring training attendance this March. This all despite a recession in the American economy right now. -
A friend of mine spent 3 days in jail for a offense that actually sounds a lot like yours. Since it's a short sentence, you should be fine, just bored. It's when you get a sentence for a year plus where stuff can get bad, but you'll be ok.

Oh there is no question they are in the huge minority, but they are allowed to their opinion, especially since they are raising fair points. -

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Because the normal definition of a slumpbuster just isn't safe in this day and age. I actually applaud them for going an alternative route. Well if they would have just found an ugly/fat chick to have sex with, at least the media wouldn't have had to see it.
