Chris Benoit...
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) I just think it's odd that you pop in here going off about how much of a bastard Benoit is as if it's anywhere near that simple. It isn't. (I didn't even know you were a wrestling fan.) And I just think the assertion that Benoit's been lying about who he is was a dishonest, misinformed thing to accuse him or anyone of. But we're not going to have much of a discussion, so let's leave it at that. His wife filed papers 4 years ago, fearing for the safety of herself and her kid. And now, they are both murdered by him and he killed himself. It's pretty cut and dry that for at least 4 years he's been living a lie as to being a great person when you consider what he's been doing at home. Now I certainly understand the guy had some significant mental issues, but if it gets that bad, kill yourself. Don't take your wife and kid too and play God as to when their lives end.

Chris Benoit...
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) I really don't know where to start. You don't have to be a "liar and actor" to do something this evil and have nobody suspect it/see it coming/think you're a great guy. The big bad man that kills his family and kills your mother and rapes your sister and steals your cat for a dogfight and breaks into your house and takes your identity doesn't live across the city in a big bad neighborhood. He lives right next door. He lives inside your house. Everyday people do things like this. Are they evil? Sometimes. Sometimes they just do an evil thing. If Martha Stewart blew her kid's brains out, it'd be a hideous thing, and an evil act but would I call her an "evil person" or a "great actress"? Probably not. The truth is we're all capable of awful things and we all carry different faces in different times with different people. It's amazing how many wifebeaters, child molestors and murderers are normal people who just snap, or who have a bad relationship with someone. We've all got awful characteristics inside of us. We are all potential wifebeaters. We are all potential murderers. I don't think Benoit was a phony. I don't know that he was (or wasn't) evil. But give me a break with your broadbrushes and nonsense. I'm not sure how much of this was methodical. We'll find out soon enough. Sounds like he was losing his mind to me. Fight with the wife? Sounds common. Kills her, then says, "What have I done?" and loses it from there. You hear about the "bizarre" text messages he was sending to WWE. I don't know what they were all about. Maybe we'll know, maybe not, but I really think he just lost it and everything went to hell from there. I can't believe somebody is arguing against the statement that somebody who kills their family and themself is evil, and compares it to the fact we are all capable of doing awful things, as well as saying people that do this are everywhere. My apologies for riding my high horse about a double murderer of his own family, I guess I do ask too much of people.

Chris Benoit...
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:11 PM) You are one misinformed person. Exactly. Roid rage doesn't cause a person to commit a calculated double murder/suicide, including calling his employer about a "family emergency", killing his wife one day, his son the next, and finally himself, all in a peroid of several days. That's call evil, not roid rage.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) That baby was asking for it. Did you see what she was wearing? DAMNIT you beat me to the punch Cheat.

Chris Benoit...
Yeah I will definitely admit Benoit was a heck of a liar and actor for him to do something this evil with nobody being able to see it coming and in fact thinking he is some sort of great guy.
-
Chris Benoit...
The incredibly naive part of this story is all the fans saying they can't believe he'd do this as if they know the guy. I could see his WWE co-employees maybe saying it, but some fan who has maybe met him once saying it is pretty naive.

Chris Benoit...
From TMZ. I hope this sicko enjoys his stay in hell.

Flying Under The Radar
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) Kobayashi will not be at the hot dog eating contest on July 4th. AKA he's afraid of that guy that broke his record a couple weeks ago. What a pity, I hope I'm wrong and there is a better reason for it.

6/25 Games
Nice to see Egbert doing his thing, Long pitching really well, and Omogrosso both getting a deserved chance to start and taking advantage of it.
-
White Sox winner
We owe Danks a few wins where he pitches mediocre after what happened to him early in the year. Nice to win a game.

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
HAHAHA, good to know the world is right and the Cubs still suck at life. And the Brew Crew already won.

Chris Benoit...
No stab or gunshot wounds, but a double murder/suicide. I am a bit bewildered.

Chris Benoit...
Talk about a sick irony....I checked info on the wrestling program tonight and it says "Mr. McMahon's Memorial Service" as the detail. I guess 2 weeks ago they faked his death in a limo explosion as part of a storyline for the shows. I'm sure all those people really feel like s*** now.

Chris Benoit...
This is Chris Benoit right? And it's his whole family, how many people? Wow that's horrible, RIP.

Trade The Ship, resign Buehrle!
Trading him for something good speeds up the rebuilding process. If you want to wait longer to be good again so we can keep Mark, go ahead, but I think most Sox fans want a winner again as soon as possible, and we can't do that and keep Mark.
-
Which prospect would you want to see play in the majors the most?
Floyd and Richar. Although I'd love to see Egbert too, and I don't think Gio is ready.

White Sox vs. Devil Rays, 6/25/07 (W)
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) He'll still be around. Yeah if I had to guess I'd say it's his last start for us. The magical date Kenny likes to trade around that is July 1st is getting very close though.

S.I. Reports on Impending Sox Fire Sale
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) If it is that bleak, let players walk and buy out options and we can rebuild through free agency and the draft. WE DO NOT HAVE TO TRADE ANYBODY IF WE ARE NOT GETTING WHAT WE WANT. Do you really think we can rebuild that way? Our general manager has proven his regime can't draft for s*** and our ticket sales are going to tank this offseason, thus so will our payroll. A firesale is essential to the rebuilding process.

White Sox vs. Devil Rays, 6/25/07 (W)
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Danks pitches well and we win. Problem is I think we will proceed to lose the next 3 games after that, since I think it's 50/50 if Buehrle is still a member of our team by the time he is scheduled to start next.

Billups opts out of contract, becomes unrestricted free agent
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AidN...p&type=lgns Ahh it's times like these I wish the Bulls didn't have the Big Ben contract. Sign Chauncey, trade Ben Gordon.....if only.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
Is the rumor that Buehrle wasn't on the team plane to Tampa true?

6/24 Games
2nd straight really good start for Johnny Moreno at GF.

Laumann new scouting director
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) People know from where I get the information from, so there's an obvious connection to the draft. The person I talked to was shocked about the correlation between KW saying he was going to have more of a say, and then coming out and saying he's only seen Poreda on videotape. I don't get where you are going with this. The best GM's in the game who know their system in and out almost never see their 1st round picks in person before they pick them.
-
Laumann new scouting director
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) No offense, though it will sound like it, but your source is full of s***. GM's rarely, if ever, see draft picks in person. I'll say right now that fathom's source is either full of s***, stupid, or he's making up the source altogether, because there is no way the person who I asked would be wrong about this subject.

Laumann new scouting director
Just for the sake of clarification, I im'ed my buddy who actually works in scouting for a MLB organization and he pretty much echo's Steff's post.
