Mike MacDougal is an absolute embarassment. I can't wait for Aardsma to get into a big spot and crap all over himself next. I've never seen such a badly constructed bullpen in my entire life. At least Fields is showing some signs of major progress.
-
Carter and Shnur need to be called up, I'm curious to see if Gio ends up in Triple A, and it's GREAT to see Gavin pitching so well lately.
-
I will admit that people who don't like strikeouts will never be a fan of Josh. But in response to the last post, you can make a living in the majors just hitting bad pitching with as watered down as the talent is (and Dan Kolb isn't any good anymore either).

Aaron Cunningham Traded to Zona for IF Danny Richar
whitesoxfan101 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well the last MIF the D'Backs deemed expendable was a guy who supposedly had a lot less potential than Richar, and he was a man by the name of Dan Uggla. I personally like this deal, it is more of a need deal but we have a lot of OF's in our system that are similar to Cunningham, and he's still a big if since he's never played above A ball. If Richar can be more consistent on defense, he could help us out IMO. -
I've been at the games the last 2 days in Cincinnati, and have seen Dunn a ton since he came up. I am completely in on dealing for him, he's basically Jim Thome without the batting average at the plate and we need outfield help.

Finally people don't bump my loser thread for a day . Fields is such a bust, our system sucks, why did we call him up, I yearn for Crede. Come on guys, our system may not be great but this kid is the real deal. Just got off to a slow start, that's all. Also, kudos to Buehrle.

Eventually people will notice the season Bourgeois is having in a system desperate for a middle infielder to show something. Eventually.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread

Congrats to David Stern on giving the Spurs Phoenix's title. -
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 01:22 AM) He did nothing wrong? Asking Cooper if the team planned on laying down for the next three series was a valid question? He did nothing but try to start another fight the same way he did with Ozzie. He could of said "It looks like the team has been laying down as of late. What can you do to get them motivated?" Or "Some fans are grumbling that this team looks like they have quit. Do you feel as though that is the case to some degree?" THOSE, are valid questions. Asking the pitching coach, whose starting staff has been solid, if the team plans on laying down over the next 10 days is absolute bs. He was trying to start a fight with A.J. and Ozzie no doubt, but I mean nothing he said today lacked validity.
-
First of all, Coop called North a jerkoff, no idea why jerkoff and ass are censored but whatever. Second, I hate North but he did nothing wrong here. This team is an embarassment and appears to have quit.

A basic OPS detail chart: .500 or less=you hit like a girl .550=warm up the bus and send them to the closest minor league affiliate .600=you better be able to defend many positions and run coming off the bench, or see the last one .650=you better be able to hit for average and/or run and not starting, unless your an epic great fielder .700=slightly below average, can get by as a starter, especially if they can run and/or field .750=average .800=slighty above average, usually means they either slug or walk a bit better than the usual player. .850=above average player .900=about a top 30 player .950=about a top 20 player 1.000=about a top 10 player 1.050 or more=1990's Frank Thomas

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 06:23 PM) So if people are giving KW so much credit for Garcia getting hurt (and really, it's never great when the highlight of your trade is that the player you gave up is hurting,) how come more people aren't bashing for NOT trading Crede? The Sox knew Crede was ailing. His value was actually somewhat high, and there was a demand for him. Come on man, can't rip KW, he's got a RING!
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) If KW knowingly traded a hurt player, no matter how much it benefitted the White Sox, JR should get a new GM. I hope you aren't naive enough to think Kenny would have been the first GM to do that. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) Garcia is claiming he wasn't hurt in 06, and this arm pain is new for an interview in today's Trib. That's cute, but the velocity and the eyes of all Sox fans disagree.

Realistic Best/Worst Case Scenerios for 2007?
whitesoxfan101 replied to rangercal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) My worst case (I'm the lone other) is that we have a fire sale and f*** it up. That's the long term worst case senario, by far. Good thinking actually, that might be the only thing that would be worse than status quo. -
Now as everybody knows by now, I don't blame Ozzie for THIS year. And as everybody also knows, if we had won today it wouldn't have mattered. But Ozzie still made decisions that were inexcuseable: -Taking Danks and his 102 pitches out after 4 and 2/3 innings. First of all, whatever happened to trying to get your pitcher the win. Plus, he just struck out Ryan freaking Howard, had got Burrell out earlier in the game, and realistically could have tried to pitch the 6th too had he got Burrell out, while only giving up 2 runs. -Bringing Thornton in during the 6th. Bring in the damn loogy Ozzie! You could have let Logan do the work, than pinch hit for him in the bottom half. But nope, Thornton comes in AND is allowed to bat with a man on base and the game tied. Hell, why not even double switch Fields out of the game? He made the last out of the 6th, you LOVE Andy Gonzalez, and you took Fields out in a double switch last night. -Thanks for getting our best left in for the 8th to whiff the heart of their order. Not like it was too late or anything, or that Logan has looked 10 times better than Matty has lately. At least Fields made a great play to save your ass for the moment to end the 5th on Burrell I guess. -Thornton has thrown 40 pitches, had NO control, and the bases were loaded. What do you do? LEAVE HIM IN TO FACE THE RIGHTY!! That grand slam might have simply been the baseball gods slapping Ozzie in the face for being a dumbass. At least you hit Jerry Owens, a bad player on 1 leg, leadoff though! Again, let me be clear. My blame for 2007 goes squarely on Kenny Williams. But today's game might have been the worst managed by anybody in baseball this year.

Realistic Best/Worst Case Scenerios for 2007?
whitesoxfan101 replied to rangercal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well since none of the best case senarios on this sunshine list are actually feasible.... Best Case: We firesale all of our veteran assets we can, Fields, Sweeney and Terrero all finish strong and show they can play and get a shot to at the MLB level, Danks pitches well, Masset improves, our minor league arms show progress. Worst Case: Fields, Sweeney, and Terrero are bad or don't get a chance, we get close enough to make Kenny do nothing but trade for more old guys, we lose Dye, Buehrle, and Iguchi for nothing, Pods and Erstad are brought back, Crede is brought back as we move Fields to left field, our pitching prospects tank. -
Terrero should be playing everyday right now. I am curious to see just how good this guy is as his sample size grows. We also need Fields in everyday to figure out what we have in him. I'd also like to see us call up Sweeney and play him everyday as well. Whether it be Sweeney in CF and Terrero in LF or Terrero in CF and Sweeney in LF (with Fields always at 3B), I want to see those 3 playing everyday. We need to get SOMETHING out of this season.
-
The other possible senario I can think of is the abrubt ending is representing the fact that we, the audience, got "whacked", but the Sopranos continue to live on. Or it could be the whole "when you die it just goes black" thing happening to Tony as well.
-
I never thought of this comparision, but it has a pretty scary bit of truth to it in terms of comparisons. Mariners are looking good this year though, 16-5 in their last 21. I have a feeling it will take us at least a few years to be any good again though, our organization is a mess.
-
This is an easy one, the Friday game against the Cubs. Up until then, we were able to hang around a few games above .500 because despite our poor hitting, our entire pitching staff was doing a great job, and our pen was about as good as any in baseball. That day, the pen completely collapsed, and it's been a tailspin for them and our team ever since. The only difference between the team now and the team when we were 4 or 5 over is the bullpen went from about the best to about the worst, everything else has been status quo, and the bullpen collapse started in that Cubs series, more specifically the Friday game.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) I don't know about the comparisons to Billy the Shake. The abrupt cut, rather than a pull back and fade down, was used IMO to highlight the uncertain future of Tony and his family/Family. Pull back/fade down would have put everybody at ease, and you'd know there were still unresolved issues but you wouldn't feel it in your gut lie with the abrupt cut. I rewatched the ending scene today and, yeah, right when they cut Tony has a look of comprehension on his face and he is reaching for something under the table/in his pocket. It may be no more than him recognizing Meadow walking in and reaching for his wallet, or maybe it's not her and he's reaching for his cell phone to call her. Or it could have been something entirely different, and darker. Karmic sh*t is going to catch up with Tony sooner or later, that is a given. Since he lasted through the series and it won't play out in front of us, it's academic whether he pays the piper in 10 minutes of 10 years. Exactly, and part of the brilliance of the show are little details that become so important such as whether it should have pulled back and faded to black or not. If it has the more gradual end, it is like yeah the family has problems but we all do. With this ending, it could be the family has problems but we all do, or Tony was just being paranoid as usual, or the whole family is about to get blown up. I just hope they don't ruin a great ending and put half a dozen alternate endings on the DVD when it comes out, or have a movie. I bet one happens, and that would be a shame.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) I like open endings in general, but that was a little too abrupt. I needed another line of dialog with meadow at the table -- and it didn't have to be of any significance -- pan back, fade to black. I think that little detail ruins the whole thing though. If Meadow makes it to the table and says something, it's just an ending where the family is together. The fact it didn't get that far is a big reason why the ending is so open to interpretation as to what really happened.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) The organization is WORSE OFF than it was six years ago? You're kidding, right? Please, show me how the Sox organization is worse off now than it was six years ago... This should be classic. Our major league team is old and lacking talent, our minor league system is just generally lacking talent, and our division is much deeper than it was 6 years ago. Our attendance and fanbase are obviously WAY better, but the on the field product is no better. It's more accomplished obviously, but definitely not better.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) People on this board are AT BEST half as smart as they used to be. You spout on this board like you are a god, as if you have some sort of insight that no one else in the world has. But honestly you know nothing about the Sox, nothing about being a Sox fan, and show absolutely no loyalty towards your team. Williams won a championship. Not one of us on this board had ever seen that prior to KW being hired, and many of us may never see it again after. If KW was not our GM it is pretty likely that we do not win the 2005 World Series. And maybe it was a fluke, who even cares, the point is, WE WON THE WORLD SERIES. No one can ever take away the parade, the singing on Wacker, any of the moments that every real Sox fan got to live. So Im going to give him the benefit of the doubt, they won 90 games last year, why dont you check how many times they won 90 games in back to back seasons before KW. And Vazquez is a good pitcher, cant win games when no one is scoring runs. Id say Vaz will likely have the lowest era of any Sox pitcher this year. What a terrible player. The holier than thou, bright and sunny, we won it all 2 years ago so your an idiot for not liking us going from World Champs to 3rd worst team in the AL in 20 months people are just adorable. If you find this acceptable, there is a team 8 miles north that would enjoy your money. But KW has failed 6 of 7 years now, and our system lacks talent. That is pretty bad in my book, but hey whatever you say bud.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) I can't disagree with this. Then again, you really want Williams canned over that? It's a problem, no doubt, but I don't think he should be fired over that. His real problem has been developing any real position players. It's something that needs to be fixed. I'm still not calling for him to be fired, though. From 2001-2007, he's improved greatly as a GM, and sure, he still has his problems, but not enough for him to be fired. The next five months are big, though -- he's got to do well with the Buehrle, Dye, Iguchi and to a lesser extent Crede situations. Our organization is, AT BEST, in an equal position now as it was when he took over. IMO it's worse off than it was then, and that was 6 years ago. If that isn't a damning statement about his job performance, I don't know what is.
