http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...sp&sid=l117 This was actually given out Wednesday, still good to see though.

Freaking UIC one hit Long Beach State and beat them 4-1 at their park. I know Long Beach isn't as good as recent years past, but they are a still a 1 and that is pretty impressive.
-
I had the Knights game on the feed online for a few inning earlier, and the ball was FLYING out of that ballpark at an incredible factor, so Broadway's outing is quite impresive in that context (Wilson's homer was a pop up basically). And Cunningham needs to get his average back up to .300 now that he seems to be coming out of his slump. Prinz and Bukvich have better raw stuff than I thought.

I don't know if they do a photo of the year award, but if so, this pic of LeBron's game winner the other night is my nominee. This picture just shows the game perfectly, the King literally beat the mighty Pistons in a 1 on 5 game (and 4 of the 5 Pistons are actually make some sort of vain effort to stop him too, with all 5 in the pic and LeBron the only Cav in it). How perfect. -
I will admit this type of thing reminds me that Ozzie isn't ALL bad. He does keep the clubhouse in check, which isn't as easy to do as I guess many would think when you consider somebody with a resume like Lou Pinella can't do it. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) I feel bad for Pinella, I really do. Taking that gig is like taking the Captain gig of the Titanic. That's why I DO NOT feel bad for him. Anybody that chooses to go to the Cubs deserves every ounce of pain they get for making such a horrid error.

This just in to the news room.....TODD JONES SUCKS!! Good to see he finally see what many others have for a while.
-
Go UIC (local) and Kent State (MAC), even if they'll both be gone fast. I love watching the CWS though, some great games.
-
They are both douchebags. Barrett knows how crazy Z is, he knew the inherent risk of going into that clubhouse. It was a fight that should surprise nobody based on the 2 losers involved, and both will get a well earned black eye nationally and locally for it.

Welcome to the show, Jerry Owens. Well done Gooch, and you couldn't touch Vazquez or Jenks tonight.

Great inning for Bobby, YAY WE DON'T LOSE!! This offense is still a joke, but Owens and Iguchi show great signs and Javy and Jenks were untouchable. -

97 again, you never know with the gun, but this is as hard as his velocity has been in ages. 1 MORE!! -

98? Holy hell where did that come from Bobby? Damn Wells just barely fouls off a couple of nasty breaking balls. Make it 3. And now a 97 fastball is a flyout to center. Great job by Bobby to get a tough hitter leading off. -

I've seen enough in 4 at bats to like Owens more as a leadoff hitter than our last guy. At least he has the ability to be a threatening prescence offensively. Jenks is in, thus he's not hurt and thus our manager really is THAT dumb. But we don't win anymore, so I am going to try and enjoy a rare non loss game, and quit whining. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) Sabo. I loved those goggles. Wonder if he ever started a dugout brawl. He got caught with a corked bat once in a Sammy-esque bat breaking incident. -

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) Wow...Risky move by Ozzie. I always error on the side of the SP, but that was not looking good. Nice going Javy Not really, if he brings in anybody but Jenks they probably give up a 3 run homer. At least Javy has pitched well all night and had a shot to get the out. -

I can't watch a Sox/Blue Jays game without thinking of former White Sox and Blue Jays catcher Charlie O'Brien, the godfather of the hockey style catcher mask. -

For the 2nd straight night, an OUTSTANDING start for us eliminates the chance for our epically bad middle relief corps to blow it. Let's turn it into a win this time, and also props to Iguchi and Owens for picking up the rest of this lineup. -
This might be the only case in board history where i'm optimistic about a Sox where most others are pessimistic. Let's hope I am right, Owens has been very good at AAA and earned this chance. I hope he can take advantage of it like he has tonight.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) If any pitcher was putting up the numbers Zambrano was for the Sox, there would be cries to send that pitcher to AAA. Exactly, and he'd be our worst starting pitcher by a pretty wide margin right now. Unless his fastball goes back to 97 from it's current 92, he'll continue to struggle too. Larry Rothschild catches up to everybody one day, and 2007 is Big Z's turn. It's fair to say the drop in velocity and arm slot this year might means he's hurt though, and he's hiding it because it's a FA year, but either way, the innings and pitches have got to him.
-
I still think Zambrano is a good pitcher, but those of you who are saying you'd trade any of our pitches for Big Z are out of your damn minds. The process took a lot longer for Big Z,but the Larry Rothschild rule of young pitcher collapse is finally happening to him as it has to so many others. He's thrown about a million innings, his stuff is dying, he is very expensive....no thanks. This ain't 2004 or 2005 Zambrano.

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines This Mark Gonzales article is a fireable offense, yearning for the irreplacable .675 OPS and .318 OBP of grinderstad, and it also had this gem I'm sure some here will jump all over. Why would we trade for Rowand? This team needs a major, long term overall for the future....not Rowand. I'm tired of grinders, I want good players.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) Equally amazing is how f***ing bad his supporting cast is, those f***ers can't do anything The one quote I DID get right was "these losers aren't doing anything, it's 1 on 5, LeBron has to win it by himself". Well I'll be damned if he did, scored all the points (18 overall) in the 2 OT's, and the last 7 in regulation. THAT was a performance you can compare to Jordan. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 25, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) LeBron, meet A-Rod. A-Rod, LeBron. I think we have a match. This is officially the dumbest post I've ever made on this site. LeBron with a performance for the ages, 48 points, 9 rebounds, 7 dimes, hits the game winner with 2 seconds left, Cavs win in Detroit in 2OT to go home up 3-2 in the ECF. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) I guess im the only one excited at maybe seeing Owens get extended time leading off? Nah I'm with you, but we're for sure in the minority. I'd rather see him than Grinderstad or Mackowiak, and if he's ever going to be an MLB player, now is the time. Plus he's been very good in Charlotte this year. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) Yeah, but he has really learned to walk this season. Our minors are pretty good dude, you've been ignoring them obviously this year. We have some good arms down there. We have a lot of good arms, but our position player pool isn't deep at all. We're banking on our few position guys to all be good to very good, which won't work out. I like our pitching though, as well as the position prospects that are actually good.
