  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ May 8, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) Is it me or is Carlos Boozer turning into a superstar? He didn't shoot the ball well tonight. But he dominated the glass and came up a clutch offensive rebound that led to the game-winning score. Well you had to figure he'd dominate this series with the GSW lack of size, but your right. He was always really good though, it's just now he's healthy and has a really good point guard as a wingman, so he's really evolving. Boozer with 20 rebounds tonight and Kirilenko with 7 blocks. 2 ridiculous stats. Deron also had 31, 8, and 5. Not bad. Dee even had 6 points and 3 assists and did a good job on defense, nice to see him get some run helping to fill in for Fisher.
  2. Utah wins 116-112, great game. This series looks like it might be another classic. GSW let a golden opportunity go tonight though, they had a great chance to steal one in a very difficult enviornment.
  3. Luol Deng and Ben Wallace are the only people doing ANYTHING in this series. To blame Gordon is crazy, everybody is doing poorly. And it's no coincidence those 2 guys are the only 2 doing well, because besides them, the Bulls are overmatched by a wide margin at every spot on the floor.
  4. 66-63 Warriors at half. DAMN this is fun to watch, I don't think Utah can keep up with this for another 24 minutes.
  5. Wing isn't THAT old and he's still left handed.... Also, our double A team seems to have a lot of guys, pitchers and hitters, with great numbers that mostly aren't that old. Is that deceiving?
  6. 37-35 Jazz after 1. This is going to be a fun series. And a Dee Brown sighting to boot. Al Harrington with 14 points in the 1st quarter, he didn't score 14 in any single full game last series, lol.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ May 7, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) The Pistons are shooting that ball at an incredible percentage. They move the ball really well. It helps that every member of their starting 5 is an offensive threat. I don't expect them to shoot as well in Chicago. Ok, maybe we'll only lose by 10 in game 3 then
  8. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ May 7, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Did you watch the first half? He stepped up in the second half, but he looked like absolute s*** in the first. All but 3 guys looked like s*** for 2 halfs, so that's an improvement. The Bulls had a 52 to 23 edge in FT attempts. The Bulls had 13 turnovers to the Pistons 21. The Bulls only had 24 fouls to the Pistons 36. Steals were 9 to 4 Bulls, blocks were 5 to 1 Bulls. The free goal percentage of the Bulls was up tonight, the Pistons was about the same. And the Bulls STILL lost by 21, and were outrebounded by 21. That tells you this: The Pistons actually are that much better. how scary.
  9. This series is done. We might get one here, so I'll say Pistons in 5. My worry that our tiny guards would get us have proven out. When we leave the guards 1 on 1, they get burned, and if we double or trap, one of their bigs gets a dunk or jump shot. We simply can't guard them, and their length is causing our said tiny guards hell. It's pretty obvious we have to trade one of the guards and get bigger in the backcourt if we want to go anywhere, and all things considered, I think Ben Gordon will be the guy that gets dumped. He has a much more tradeable contract, plays horrible defense, and can't run the point. If we were to do that and hopefully get a big that can score a bit inside in the lottery this offseason, we'd be a bit closer at least. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ May 7, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Get Tyrus out of the game now. LOL. He, Deng, and Big Ben are the only 3 guys that showed up tonight.
  10. Stolen from another thread, lol. I'll get to this later when I have time.
  11. QUOTE(joeynach @ May 7, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) Its called regression towards the mean in logical terms. A good GM and organization would plan that following a guys one and only monster year that regression towards the mean is more likely than the player just putting up those career years #'s for the rest of his playing time. The success of the A's for many years has been based on maximizing the performance they get out of guys, and then trading them to teams who will overpay for them, only to see the guy they got regress to the means (SEE: Mulder for Calero and Haren for example). In fact, they do it well in cases like Frank Thomas, Chad Bradford, etc as well in cases without trades. That is the true essence of moneyball, far more than on base percentage (although that is important too).
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ May 7, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) (btw, many have been following Hamilton since he was drafted and all knew he still had some talent...) *Raises hand* I was SHOCKED they gave him to a division rival for nothing. And I don't care about the Cubs OF performance so far, Hamilton would be their 2nd best OF by far and his best position, RF, is the spot they are still unsure at.
  13. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 7, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Warriors and Jazz tonight, should be an interesting game. Baron vs. Deron should be a lot of fun. Boozer is going to destroy the Warriors inside, but the Jazz have had trouble with quality wings all year, and the Warriors have a bunch of them. GS in 6.
  14. updated: .306 average 8 home runs 17 RBI 2 for 2 stealing .398 OBP .671 SLG 1.069 OPS But the Cubs were smart to give him to the Reds for 50 k, after all they have the Murton/Floyd platoon in RF. This is why they never win, not the goat....
  15. Brewers win again, the buzzsaw the the north ain't going away. And Francisco Cordero still has yet to allow a single run all year.
  16. Those 2 pitches to Victorino and Howard had "hit me" all over them. He has really good stuff though.
  17. When your washed up, running into carts during BP isn't a wise course of action. Actually, that's NEVER a wise course of action, but especially when your washed up.
  18. Eh ish happens. However, game 2 is a must win. If we don't win game 2, we have to either: 1. Win 4 of 5, with the 5th game being a game 7 at Detroit 2. Win 4 in a row so we can clinch at home, including in that senario winning game 5 at Detroit in a 2-2 Yeah, game 2=must win
  19. 5'11 PG Kevin Dillard of H-F (class of 2008) is off to SIU. Lowery keeps getting it done....and damn I thought NIU might get him too (Dillard, I mean), although we signed a pretty decent JUCO wing and 4 today so i'll take it.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 4, 2007 -> 11:48 AM) Cunningham may be your young leadoff hitting prospect. He is, but he's too far away to bank on that. We gotta find a stopgap.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 4, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) I was just discussing this with a co-worker: When did the draft lottery stop televising the actual drawing of the lottery balls? It is kind of shady to come from some back room and say who gets what, it seemed to be pretty legit when they had the actual ball machine so you could view who was getting what pick. Thoughts? To stop the losing on purpose nonsense and confusion, they should just make it all even chance among every team that misses the playoffs. Put 1 lottery ball in for each team that didn't make the playoffs, draw from the machine with it covered or w/e so nobody can see anything until the ball is picked, and go in order from 14 to 1. Pretty simple and would be a better system IMO.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 3, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) And there's no way in hell he's 5'11". I can attest to that. To make a long story short, I met Gio after watching him pitch a game his senior year in HS in Miami, and he was probably 3 inches shorter than I am. So unless he's had a growth spurt, he's more like 5'9".
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 4, 2007 -> 09:54 AM) Im not sure Walker had that much to do with BA's swing did he? I know they needed to shorten it up though, and its just too mechanical right now. I dont know why they havent just quieted his lower half, then let him swing his normally from his ear. I dont understand why they made it so mechanical. PS Russell is amazing, he is the white Contreras. I had heard Anderson worked all offseason with BA on redoing his swing, that could be false though of course. As for Russell....he's another in a growing group of minor league pitchers we have that i'm becoming very excited about. We still have no system depth, but at least our top guys look really good.
  24. This team actually has very good pitching, the problem is Kenny's offensive philosophy going into this year: 1. Expected to catch lightning in a bottle with Pods, who is both bad and fragile. 2. Expected to catch lightning in a bottle with Erstad, who is both bad and fragile (that's worked out ok though). 3. Was, like many, under the false premise that last year was a breakout year at the plate for Crede, when it was actually just a career year. 4. Took the caculated risk that Thome would stay healthy again, which could work out still if he does after this DL stint is over, but who knows. 5. Relied on the contract year status to mean Dye would have a year again like 2006, when in reality that was another case of a career year, in this case from an aging player. There are your problems. Our pitching is fine, but our offense is wrong in almost every way possible.
  25. The NBA line is 22 feet in the corners and 23'9 everywhere else IIRC. I think they should make the college line 22 feet all around the court. It needs to be moved back though, these games often turn into 3 point contests now and that's no good.
