QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 16, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) was it really hit that hard? That thing is a dozen rows up on a normal day. A-Rod thought he had it, Sweeney sprinted all the way to the wall and actually looked up for a moment before the wind drifted it back in and towards center and he caught it a step in front of the wall. Danks is still pitching great though. FINALLY a hard hit ball, and right at Phelps. Figures. -

Danks has pitched scared since he served up that would be gopher to A-Rod that died in the wind. Come on kid, throw it over the plate. There ya go John, nice job. -

This series was lost in the first 2 at Utah. GS should have won at least 1, and could have certainly won both of those games, but didn't finish the job either time. That double error was too much for them to overcome. -

Congrats to Utah, from no playoffs to the West Finals in a calendar year is great work. And for them to win on a night where Deron is 1 for 11 shooting for 2 points, 2 rebounds, 7 dimes, 5 turnovers, and 5 fouls (that was the worst game i've ever seen him play, college or pro, and i've seen him play over 100 times now) is impressive. They are going to take on a team better, although more beat up, than them next. -

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) I disagree, I think if we won game 3, we would have lost game 4, or atleast game 5 I think going down 0-3 made the bulls relax because they stopped trying to do to much, relaxed and started playing their game knowing they have nothing to lose. This coinciding with the Pistons relaxing thinking they had it locked up, and now we have a series. I think if the Pistons lost a game earlier they would have maintained a high level of play, and this series would be over The Pistons recent history in closeout games (1 loss since 2002, and it was a game 7 of the NBA Finals on the road) suggest your theory is a pile of hooey. If the Bulls lose in 7, it was a series lost by the player rotations of Scott Skiles in game 3. -
Pitched 4 innings tonight and only gave up 1 run, must be ok.
-
Why would Hall not being able to throw stop him from being called up? A.J. can't hit or throw right now and he plays everyday.
-
Ugh, Ortiz soon to follow Ponson on a raft to nowhere. More stud prospects to their rotation.

Zach Zaidman is "celebrating" somewhere. But this is indeed good news. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 15, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) The pistons do not come into the UC and celebrate. End of discussion. I'd be more mad if we lose game 6 than I would have been if we had lost game 4. And it's not even close. -

Well it's a series now. Defend your home court and anything can happen in game 7. But game 3 haunts me more and more by the game....where was Tyrus in game 3 coach? If he hadn't been MIA that night, it might be 3-2 Bulls right now. Oh, and the NBA has no right to ever complain when people hint of a fix ever again. To suspend 2 players from one team and not 2 players from another for the identical crime screams, at least, favoritism to me. The Suns are a global team, but the Spurs are THE global team, which is why they have always been treated well by the NBA and are again to an extreme here. Stern is too damn busy worrying about the game worldwide to care about TV ratings, which is why the Spurs in their tiny TV market get so much love. This is Bud Selig-esque work by Mr. Stern. -
I'll take 2 of 3 over both to keep winning series and shut up my friends of both teams thank you very much.

QUOTE(rangercal @ May 15, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Duncan left the bench on this play.... Yeah I've seen the video. He BETTER be suspended if Diaw and Amare are, it's the exact same crime. Period. EDIT: In fact, if you notice, there is another player that comes out to restrain Duncan and get him back to the bench. ESPN's Ric Buecher just said that is none other than Bruce Bowen, so based on the rule, he should also be suspended. So Bowen, Duncan, Amare, and Diaw should be out based on the rule, although that shows just how dumb this rule is. -
I really am amazed at the lack of common sense people are using in this thread. Hunter's contract would be an albatross for, at minimum, the last 2 years of it, and we simply can't afford to have a deal that bad. He is hitting better than ever yes, but his defense has been on a gradual downturn for a few years now and he is aging. I'm also scared of Ichiro for the exact same reasons. Letting Dye go and acquiring Ichiro or Hunter is going out of the frying pan and into the fire IMO.

QUOTE(Brian @ May 15, 2007 -> 09:39 AM) If Bowen didn't get suspended for his cheap shot on Nash, Amare won't get suspended. My buddy is a big Spurs fan and will not admit the Spurs are getting dirty at times. Bowen is a dirty player and SA is a dirty team, but both the play against Nash and the one against Amare were debateable in terms of if they were dirty, as I see no way to prove either was intentional. However the Horry play was very dirty, that is not debateable. The thing everybody seems to not get is there is a cut and dry rule that if you leave the bench during a skirmish, it's an automatic one game suspension, no questions asked, and people who did far less than Amare and Diaw have been suspended under that rule. Amare does indeed have a chance as mentioned to avoid the suspension as he was checking in though (and based on how the NBA treats star players, I wouldn't be surprised if they lean on that crutch to avoid suspending him). However, it's a lock that Diaw gets a game, and it's also a lock that Horry gets a game as well for starting it. If that is ALL that happens, it's a little more fair IMO as well, although yes the Spurs are very dirty and I hope they lose this series for it. -
The odds that Garcia could have passed a physical were very low, and I can say with 99.99 percent confidence that this isn't the first time a team traded for a veteran and didn't give him a physical. They thought it was such a fleecing that it was worth taking an injured past his prime starter in a contract year I guess. Garcia was worth more than we got for him, but not nearly as much as most people here think.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 15, 2007 -> 08:03 AM) I agree with Kap that Bush tried to do the right thing. I really think he allowed his morality and integrity to guide decisions. I see a lot of parallels with Carter. I also believe that while 9/11 was his brightest moment, it also was the beginning of a long terrible slide. And perhaps any other human would have also slid. Perhaps at that moment he realized that while he was the most powerful person on the planet, he was also just one person and the world is a large and dangerous place, that he would not be able to control. I actually think that if they did a poll on this, the vast majority of Americans would agree with you (and me, I agree 110 percent with this). I really think most people think (and are right to think) that Bush probably isn't a bad guy at all personally. He simply has been a horrendous president, and part of the problem might be circumstances caused by 9/11 itself that anybody would have had trouble with. That is why in certain respects I do feel bad for him, because I don't think he's just a horrible person trying to suck at his job this bad, I really think he's trying to do the right thing and it just ends up being way off, in part due to how pigheaded and stubborn he is. The Carter parallels are for sure there. -
First Vernon Wells..Now Ken Griffey Jr.
whitesoxfan101 replied to greasywheels121's topic in The Diamond Club
Griff is at .336/.446/.589/1.035 right now BTW with 7 homers and 6 doubles, as well as 23 RBI in 107 AB's, and even has 3 stolen bases, which is the most he's had since he had 6 in his first year with the Reds in 2000. He's not exactly washed up. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) Nice knowing you Buffalo. 1-0, unbelievable. The Senators, notorious playoff chokers, are going to waltz to the Stanley Cup Finals due in large part to an epic choke job by their opponent. How ironic.

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:38 AM) It's debatable whether they will/should get suspended. It would be a shame to give the Spurs the advantage for a fight they instigated. It's the same as Poppovich telling Horry to start a fight with Stoudemire to get him suspended. Oh it's a LOCK Diaw and Amare are suspended, I've seen FAR FAR less get the 1 game mandatory suspension several times since the rule was put it. It's a completely stupid rule, but they have to (and will) be consistent. And Horry gets at least 1, if not 2 games for starting it. Still advantage Spurs though, which is a darn shame since their dirty play started it all. -

Horry with a brutal cheap shot, but it works out great for the Spurs. He's gonna be suspended for game 5, but Amare and Diaw came off the bench, so they are in the same boat. Advantage: Spurs -
Getz is playing like he knows there might be a 2B job in Chicago open next spring. IF (huge if) he can hit .300 this year and stay healthy, he has to be considered. Good to see Cunningham have a good night finally, and Gio with a decent, workmanlike outing. Also cool to see Omogrosso pitch well, but ugh Edwards. And speaking of playing like you know a job above you might be available, Carter and Schnurstein both are begging for promotions with their play right now, and based on what we are playing at their spots above them, they might get their wish. And damn Hernandez is raking at Kanny, but why did they move Shelby back to 2B for game 2?
-
Getz makes himself more intriguing by the day. If he finishes the year hitting around where he is right now, you have to consider him IMO.
