Hmm, well he saved the homer but Paulie gets a double out of it. Not bad. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) Ok Ozzie...now you can put in Boone. Exactly, if we're up 7 runs put Boone in, or Cliff, or Thornton. -

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) I just find it funny that clubs keep shelling out millions to pitchers that cannot stay healthy. im just waiting to hear about josh beckett's next injury. I wouldn't compare the 2 quite so directly. Burnett is a guy that has a history of major arm problems, being hurt all the time, being a bit soft, and is also a .500 pitcher in his career who is more a thrower than a pitcher. Beckett is a guy that has dominated and carried his team to a world title, has had more minor issues (blisters especially) than he has major, and has shown that he can pitch as well as throw. Is Beckett a risk? Obviously, but not 1/10th the risk Burnett is healthwise.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I would like to say that I hate having Brandon in right now. I don't like the fact that he's working in 2 innings every darn game he's in. Let Thornton pitch, it's been a while. He hasn't been getting a whole ton of work recently, and he also didn't throw that many pitches tonight. I agree with the premise that he shouldn't have to throw 2 innings an outing, but I can see the thought process here tonight, especially with how our pitching has been playing with fire this evening and is VERY fortunate to have only given up 2 runs. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Pretty much. Right now, he's getting himself out between the ears. He's actually trying to be too patient. He wouldn't be striking out as much if he was more aggressive. His contact skills aren't as bad as what he's shown, but he's running deep counts and trying to fight pitches off. Once he reaches a healthy balance of swinging early when he likes his pitches, and taking when he's comfortable against a pitcher, we'll see a different hitter at the plate. Agreed. Brian needs to realize we have a pretty patient team as it is and he doesn't need to work too hard for walks. When there is a chance for one, go for it, but at the same time be more aggressive and don't pass on pitches to hit in order to try and get a walk. And once again, B-Mac with stellar work out of the pen. Thatta boy. -
I have no problem with him being on the team, but that's not the right spot to put him in, and it was about 5 feet away from leading to a tie game. He needs to throw strikes, if he does I still think he can be useful. But his leash is getting pretty short.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Juan is $ w/ a runner on 3rd and less than 2 out But it was bases loaded nobody out so we were more playing for the big inning, Cintron hammers lefties, and Juan has trouble with guys that have overwhelming raw stuff. -

Liriano works out of it, we get 1 but blow a chance for a couple more. Still a 5 run lead heading to the 8th. -

Argh, our luck against Liriano (other than the BA at bat) runs out. 1-2-3 double play, and that one really hurts. -

I know in the grand scheme of things and in this game specifically it doesn't mean a lot, but I dont like making Anderson go face somebody this nasty, and I like it even less when we aren't letting him bunt so it's 2nd and 3rd and only 1 out. Even a successful bunt could continue to help his confidence at the plate, and he looked decent up there last night overall. So what does BA do after I go to put this message? He has a solid at bat and walks to load 'em up. Damn Ozzie is good, it's really beyond lucky and just incredible skill, I have NO IDEA how he does it but his moves seem to always work out. -

Awesome!! Liriano with just horrible luck right here too, but great job by Joe to put a decent swing on an 0-2 pitch against a nasty pitcher. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) This is the first time Boone has had problems throwing strikes including spring training. If he can throw strikes he'll be fine, if he doesnt he's not going to be good, it's that simple. Got to give him a few more outings before you send him packing. I have no problem with him in, I have a problem with him in where he hasn't been throwing strikes and we give him a shot at 2 lefties, he walks them, and all of a sudden a 4 run lead is in jeopardy. HAHAHA!! BEAUTIFUL!! GREAT JOB AJ!! HIT AND RUN TO PERFECTION!! *applauds* -

Damnit, Liriano is in. He is Johan 2.0, and I dread the day they wake up and put him in the rotation. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) He brought in our loogy to face a switch hitter/left hander in the 7th. Ozzie knows what he is doing. Well we are going to lose a lot of close ballgames if Logan is our LOOGY, he's not ready yet. I don't give a f*** what hand the guy throws with if he can't get anybody out. -

Let me also point out something I noticed at the game last night and have again today, at this point the ball seems to carry less and less as the night goes on at The Cell. For instance, if Hunter hits that ball about an hour ago it probably carries out. Just an interesting thing IMO. -

Why the hell would we bring in Logan? What an AMAZINGLY stupid move.....but we narrowly stay in the lead. Ozzie has a magic touch with getting away with bad moves, but to be honest that's a compliment in my opinion since all managers make mistakes and usually the really good ones get away with it. -
Not sure why it's a huge surprise. Once again they are built on pitching and an offense built for their home park, a great plan.

Marcus is 10 times better than Jeff, and Marcus the sophomore might be better than Jeff the senior. With that said, Gordon is too good for both of them and his team wins that one.

"Vince Young will be a 2nd day pick"
whitesoxfan101 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
For bump purposes, yesterday Hoge changed his tune. Now he says that "unbeliveably" Vince Young will still be a top 10 pick, but he's still only 2nd day worthy and whoever drafts him will be fired in 2 years. Damn is he bitter about being wrong, I hope he takes his lumps when he's wrong about Vince. -
I live in Aurora and go to school in DeKalb, and it's between $2.90 and $3.00 a gallon. I remember taking a road trip to Florida during Christmas of 1997 when I was 11, and gas was between $.99 and $1.09.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 08:13 AM) Crede was 3-9 with a HR, and 5 Ks vs Santana in 2005. He was the Sox best hitter vs Santana last year. I'll take 3 for 9 with a homer in a second, k's be damned.
