  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) It was also a charge The refs were so in awe they called a block, and to be honest I can't blame them. That was crazy stuff. Anyways, Suns lose and we got a series on our hands here.
  2. Chalk 1 series loss to an Ozzie lineup. We ended up with 4 or 5 series losses last year due to it, wonder how many we will have this year.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Balta and Whitesoxfan101, same person, or just same brain? Same brain, so in other words Balta needs help ASAP.
  4. Kobe just pretty much jumped over Steve Nash for a dunk. Haha that's going to be a poster on every kids wall in the LA area, that was sick.
  5. Detroit against good right handed pitching=lolol. Good luck with having that problem all year Tigers.
  6. QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) the marlins are BAAAAAAAAAAAD Haha and if not for a stupid ass 8th inning, they'd have won 2 of 3 at Wrigley. Cubs without Lee=bigger problem than people seem to think.
  7. Anybody know anything about this guy? Is he one of those head cases or guys with great stuff and no control that we took a flyer on and will try to rehab?
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Not that many people like rapists, generally speaking. I think aboz is saying way too many people hate on Kobe's game. I think me and aboz agree that Kobe is a miserable scumbag of a human being, but that doesn't change the fact that he's an amazing basketball player, even though many people think otherwise.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) Make a poll huh? No thanks, i really dont give a s*** what everyone else thinks. IM just wondering why the quality of a team ruins someone's chances at being MVP. IN other sports it helps the player, but not in the NBA. Billups was very important to his team's success, wouldnt being extremely valuable on the best team make you most valuable? In my eyes it should be in every sport that the quality of the team hurts a guys chances at MVP, just like no player on a team that misses the playoffs should be MVP, since they could have missed the playoffs without you. That is why sometimes I wonder if there should be 2 awards, most VALUABLE player and most OUTSTANDING player, as they are 2 completely different things IMO.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Their talent level, even without Lee, is still pretty strong in the pathetic National League. Everybody has a chance in that league other than the Pirates and Marlins, and by everybody I mean everybody. The Cubs rotation right now has Maddux, a struggling Zambrano, and crap. Also, their middle relief blows.....Eyre, Howry, and Dempster are good, but the rest is poop. And not having Lee screws with everybody else in the lineup, the balance isn't there. The Cubs have a definite shot to make the playoffs, but they suck just as much as everybody else in that league.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Why dont you consider Billups to be on that list? He was on a team that out performed every one of the others. That Pistons team is still very good without Billups, wheras the Lakers, Cavs (both for sure) and probably the Suns don't even make the playoffs without their guys. I know it sucks for Billups to have his supporting cast held against him, but that's how it goes when the award is called most VALUABLE player. Billups is still great and had a great year, but his value to his own team is lessened by the talent around him.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) Neither of that means s*** right now though. They're 4th place in the Central, but we're 20 games into the season, it's not August. Their record is good, and playing the Marlins couldn't have come at a better time for them. Something I've noticed is that they seem to have a horse shoe up their ass so far this year. They've received a lot of lucky plays/errors by other teams that have allowed them to win games they shouldn't have. A couple of lucky April wins will be more than trumped by not having D Lee for 3 months.
  13. There seems to be confusion here. Santo=Dorf, GHC isn't saying that Michels is Jermaine Dye, but he is saying to say he's a bust already is stupid, which it is. And compared to Dye and Konerko in early 2005, Michels is hitting like a hall of famer.
  14. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) Fun seeing it all in retrospect, ain't it? He sure did make a difference in the playoffs. And to think: we had an entirely different first half closer last year... One who was UNHITTABLE before his back acted up.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Before Cubs fans start to tell you how great they are, you might want to point out their upcmoing June schedule. Goodness, that's a ridiculously hard schedule they're going to face. Lots of games vs the Cards, Astros, Reds, White Sox, Tiger, Twins, and Indians. That and the fact they are in 4th place in the NL Central and 2nd place in Chicago right now. I will say this about the Cubs.....the fact they have to place us 6 times every year while the Cards get to play Kansas City is a big advantage for the Redbirds.
  16. Haha awwwwwww...... an Aaron Rowand lovefest ALMOST broke out!! The sooner people realize he's an average player the better. Anderson's ceiling is about 20 stories higher than Rowand's, and I'm willing to deal with watching him be a bit inconsistent in his on the job training at the plate while the rest of our team covers up for him in the lineup and he keeps playing great defense. But I will say this....people are waking up about Rowand, a good start.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) AJP is using his old hitting approach of trying to hit singles to the opposite field lately. This is helping his batting average as well as make RBI opps for crede. Yep, your definitely right. To be honest with the way the team is setup this year, I'd much rather AJ hit half a dozen less homers and hit .300 plus like he showed he could do in Minnesota.
  18. It was a 3 horse race IMO between Nash, Kobe, and LeBron....and you really could have gone with any of the 3 and I couldn't argue.
  19. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Its crazy to me how many Kobe haters are out there. Personally, he's the only reason I will EVER watch the NBA. The guy is damn good, regardless of what anyone thinks of him as a person. I agree the Kobe haters are over the top, but if he's the only reason you'd watch the NBA than you haven't see LeBron James, the Phoenix Suns, or the Detroit Pistons play.
  20. Bronson Arroyo improved to 4-0 with a 2.34 by throwing 8 innings of 1 hit ball in a 5-0 win over the Natties. Reds must be feeling good about that trade right about now, he's actually 1 out away from being 5-0. Ben Sheets pitched 6 strong innings as the Brewers beat the Braves 5-4 to complete a 3 game sweep, get Sheets his 1st win this year, and seemingly get the Brewers back on the right track.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Frank hit his 5th of the season. Yep, and his average soared to .171 as a result.
  22. Me and my dad were at the game. We were both spechless and in awe, and I remember us talking after the game saying this kid could be a difference maker for us one day. I'm just glad one day got here as fast as it did.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) We're holding out hope Steve Alford coaches him for his time at Iowa..... SO true.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 07:13 AM) Trust me, the real fans never got off the bandwagon... And I will tell you what, as long as the Sox are playing good ball, winning 60-65% of their games, and Brian Anderson is taking away hits and runs on defense, I don't give a s*** what he is hitting. Long term for me, his offense is the thing I am least worried about. It might take him as long as it took Joe Crede or even (cough) Aaron Rowand to understand hitting at the major league level, but with this kind of cast around him, it is worth it for him to mature here now, vs later. Amen man, I never jumped off. This kid is a GREAT defender, is hitting #9 for us, and is still very young. As long as he hits .240, draws a few walks, steals a few bases, hits around 20 homers, and plays that defense he's doing his job.
  25. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) Theoretical New Big Ten alignment West Illinois Iowa Iowa St/Mizzou Minnesota Northwestern Wisconsin East Indiana Michigan Michigan St Ohio St Penn St Purdue I like it, although Iowa State is currently in better shape and position for growth than Mizzou athletics IMO, so I'd take the Cyclones.
