  1. Also from the "coming out of nowhere" department, stud 2006 forward Tyler Smith picks Iowa. GREAT pickup for the Hawks assuming he qualifies, congrats to the Iowa fans on here.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 06:09 AM) I love when people use a discriminatory remark to critcize someone for making a discriminatory remark. Not sure how "idiot" is discriminatory, especially when that's exactly what Hernandez is in this case.
  3. Well done all around. Let's win the damn series tomorrow.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) Right now, a few days later, after this story has happened, would you still think Manning to that offer sheet and give up a 3rd rounder for him? Please, an incident like this with an NFL player is comparable to you or me jaywalking. This will have no affect on Manning's career with the Bears.
  5. First of all, I don't know what the hell was wrong with Vasquez the last couple years. Other than the 5th inning against Toronto when he was tipping his pitches (yes I believe he was), this guy has been very good and I assume the more work he does with Coop and AJ the better he will get. He just seems to use all his pitches so well and does a nice job locating them. I had a very bad day yesterday so I didn't get to comment on Garland at all. I actually thought that after the first couple innings he was very good. Jon seemed to all of a sudden remember he had a changeup, and threw a few NASTY ones which the bottom fell out of to keep the hitters off balance. He also really had good velocity on the 4 seamer and seems to be coming around with his location. I'm very interested to see his next start, I'm very encouraged about Jon right now. Finally, Cliff Polite. Actually his last 2 outings have encouraged me, despite the fact they have also been a bit shaky. His velocity seems to be there for the first time all year, however the problem is his location is not. I always say I worry more about lacking velocity (See: Garcia, Freddy at times this year) than lacking control when it comes to established pitchers, so hopefully Cliff bounces back to be a big part of the pen and finds that control, because his stuff is there. Just some thoughts, feel free to comment. Hopefully we can win tomorrow and take the series so I can officially erase Monday's game from my memory bank.
  6. Well the Cubs picked up their 2nd straight hard fought win over the mighty Marlins. They should be proud of themselves right now, 4th place in the NL (lol, the NL, lol) Central, and 2nd place in their own city. The love I'm sure they will get on talk radio and in the papers tomorrow will be well deserved indeed. Oh, and especially surprising is another Reds win last night. They are playing very well despite starting the season with a boatload of road games. Edwin Encarnacion and Brandon Phillips continue to destroy the ball, and somehow setup man Todd Coffey continues to be unhittable.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) Have you never seen a Sox extra inning game? For years, they've been basically homer or nothing in extras. Yeah but we've been doing it all game tonight, in a pitchers haven. Driving me insane.
  8. The fact that Pods is a defensive replacement tells you all you need to know about Pablo.
  9. That pitch was only about 8 inches wide. Good call Angel, and awesome name too. Gas and AJ is gone. This home run swing s*** is angering me. Either yank it down the line or quit doing it. If I see one more flyout to the track in center I will put a hole in my wall.
  10. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) What the hell are those whistles? Must be boats in the sound. There is some stupid ass train station right behind the stadium I believe. Annoying as hell.
  11. Wow Konerko RIPS that one, Beltre should feel fortunate there isnt' a hole in his forehead after that thing went by him.
  12. Damnit with the home run swings guys, a couple of singles wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. And with that, the 2nd straight batter to start the inning goes 3-2. And Thome Monster gives it a ride, but no go. I hate this park.
  13. Send him down, dude sucks in the clutch and can't hit the Mariners.
  14. Going to the 8th tied at 2. Welp the D lineup has gotta figure out a way to score, and with Thome, Konerko, and AJ coming up against a bullpen arm (probably) this is our chance. Come on boys!
  15. Man on 2nd, 1 out for Ichiro. He kills us in these spots, but so does Ibanez and he popped up with 1st and 3rd 2 outs earlier after the Garland miscue. Cotts getting warm, oy vey..... Jon with a great changeup again, bottom just fell out of it and no velocity there to get Ichiro in a 1-2 hole. Flips it into left field, typical Ichiro. Ichiro is dead in the rundown for 2 outs, but it's tied at 2.
  16. Betancourt hits one that just flies through the infield and Uribe-licious can't get it. Lead off single. Nice bunt there, 1 out, Betancourt to 2nd.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Giambi's not on the stuff now. After his tumor scare, no way he'd be on it. You are giving him and MLB players WAY too much credit with that comment. He was all but sent to Columbus last year, they had that "meeting" and then all of a sudden the power was back and Giambi gained some weight again. And then he's off to a hot start again this year and looking in shape. The HGH is back and so is Giambi, no coincidence. His health is secondary to his baseball livelihood, as it is with all the guys that take this s***, that much is obvious.
  18. Pablo is incredible, I swear every time he hits the ball I think it's somehow going to end up a hit, he's like our own Lew Ford with the luck he has sometimes. No luck there though. EASY inning for Moyer, time to stretch everybody, 2-1 Sox.
  19. Wow Brian got schooled on that change. Yikes.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) The testing in 2004 was quite poor, if I remember correctly. I thought it was after the 2004 season where the testing became "legit". Yep, and he could have been on HGH and never got caught anyways. Hell, there are guys right now on HGH (*cough* Giambi */cough*) that are still taking advantage of the fact the system has flaws.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) I feel like we caught a break that inning, as Sexson's out seemed like a definite homer off the bat. Nah, he got under it and it appeared to catch a jet stream. Was amazed it carried that far, damn thin air in Seattle is always a problem.
  22. Btw, that pitch was only 78 to get Beltre, so it was actually a change. The fact that it looked so much like a sinker is what made it so freaking nasty, nobody other than fat Albert was gonna hit that s***.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Just a guess, but I'm thinking illegal substances. Yes sir, and those illegal substances made him A LOT of money. In a case like Beltre, you can see why he'd be tempted to do it, ESPECIALLY in a contract year. GAS!!! and Reed is gone. Heading to the 7th 2-1 Sox. This feels like last year right now.
  24. Wow, NASTY change s*** to get Beltre. Where's that been all year?
