Hunter on the score
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Wasn't that 1000? I've been listening to Levine and DeFalco since the show started and they did an interview with Torii that fit that exact description. You are correct. And that is realistic, seeing a team in person changing your opinion about them, so as much as I dislike TorII I give him credit for being honest.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
So yesterday, the Brewers beat the Reds 11-0 behind a complete game by their starter. Today, the Reds win 11-0 at Milwaukee behind a complete game by their starter. Wonder when the last time that happened was, 2 teams play each other on back to back days, each team wins 1 of the games 11-0, both teams get 9 innings from the winning pitcher.

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Because they dont ever address places of need.. they got extremely lucky last year that Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettitte all had tremendous years because they back of their rotation was horrible.. This year, the back of the rotation is again pretty poor and itll start showing up when they actually play some good teams.. Im not saying they need to go out and spend a ton of money every offseason but to sit around and do nothing is one reason why I dont think they are going to make the playoffs this year They play in the national league, so they aren't going to be playing against good teams very often.....

Anderson's strikeout totals are alarming
You know what else is alarming? When a guy can hit a fence scrapper over the CF fence that is hit so hard that Torii Hunter doesn't even have time to get to the warning track, let alone try and climb the fence and bring it back. Keep it up BA, slowly improving up there at the dish.

The Continuing Rise of Jose Contreras
Ho hum, another great outing for Jose today. To be honest I didn't even think he had his best stuff, his control wasn't as good as it has been usually since last August, and his off speed stuff really wasn't there all that much, yet here we are with him throwing 8 and only giving up 2. The dude is locked up through 2009 at under 10 million per, has AMAZING stuff despite whatever his real age is, and has won 11 straight in the regular season and his only loss period was a 3-2 quality start against the Angels where he didn't get run support in the playoffs. This staff has 6 guys that are above average starters, but it's now clear we have 2 STUD ACES in Count and Buehrle, and I can't wait to see how Vasquez pitches as we continue to work with him.

Borchard designated for assignment by the M's
Joe suffers from a terrible case of being bad. However I wish him the best and hope he continues to enjoy the 5.5 million dollar bonus.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Not much to say except it's all rolling right now. Let's keep it going out west, and it was great to see Anderson and Uribe have success at the plate (especially Uribe of course) and Pods keeping that hitting streak going is big as well for him.

Heading West, are the demons still there?
Counting the 2 in Cleveland after this, it's an 8 game road trip. We did great on this homestand, so give me 5-3 on this trip and i'll be VERY pleased, and 4-4 wouldn't be all that bad as long as 1 of the wins is a game in Cleveland.

Random (but interesting) White Sox Fact
Well obviously we all remember how last year we set that major league record by leading at some point in every game the first 30 something (was it 36?) games of the year. Well this year, in our 18 games so far, we've had a lead in 17 of the games at some point (the only exception being the 8-2 loss to Cleveland in the 2nd game of the season). That's awfully impressive right there.

Recruiting Thread
Haha exactly!! He's really good, really good players don't play football at Iowa State!! But in all seriousness, reading up on this guy, sounds like everybody thought he was the born and bred Nebraska kid that would go be the hero for the Huskers, and then all of a sudden he picks Iowa State. Methinks maybe Callahan took him for granted and got burned for it.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) The biggest difference has been Morgan Ensberg. He looks like a completely different batter this year. He was good last year, but he has been locked in this year. .411 BA, .522 OBP, .964 SLG, 1.486 OPS, 8 HRs, 17 Runs, 16 RBI, and 12 BBs to 9 Ks. Umm first of all, it's still early. And 2nd, Morgan Ensberg last year: .283/.388/.557/.945 on the splits, 36 HR, 101 RBI, 85 BB, 30 2B, 86 R, 150 H How the hell has he looked completely different? Dude was a stud last year and he's off to a hot start this year.

Soldier Field Loses Historic Landmark Status
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) Wrigley still looks like a POS ruin though. Soldier Field looks like a grounded spaceship now. Soldier Field looks like a POS ruin from the outside too though.

Wrigley should suffer the same fate due to the new bleachers. (should that be in green?)

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) ISU gets QB Phillip Bates from Nebraska, some people are calling it a shocker.....anyone know why? I know nothing about him, but my guess is it's a shocker because he's really good.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&a
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) Yep, that's me and two games isn't going to change my mind. Their pitching staff is much better than Cleveland's and as far as their offense not improving, they've had their 1-2 hitters on the bench this series. Hopefully I'm wrong and hopefully the Twins suck but if there is a team that can beat us in the division I believe it's going to be Minny, not the Tribe. The Twins bullpen is really down from last year, and Radke continues to regress. Santana 2.0 is going to be a stud, but their lineup is a joke (even with Stewart and Castillo, they have NO power) and the fact that Cleveland has a decent enough rotation and a 83949328432 times better offense will have them finish ahead of Minnesota. However, the lack of a bullpen from Cleveland and Minnesota makes me feel better about our chances, since unlike them, our team doesn't have much of a weakness other than the pen.

11-1 in last 12, 7-1 on the homestand. Now THAT is how you give a big middle finger to a 1-4 start, well done boys, let's sweep 'em tomorrow. BTW, we have now won 9 straight against AL Central opponents. The last game at KC, 3 at Detroit, 3 vs. Kansas City, 2 vs. Minnesota

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) wtf was Castro doing? Weren't there two balls anyway? Nope, it was a full count. Damn....Bobby had to do too much freaking work for a game we led by 7, but at any rate.... SOX WIN!!!! INDIANS LOSE AT KANSAS CITY!!!! We have now won 11 of 12 and are 7-1 on the homestand.

I hate bringing in closers when it's a non save situtation. They never seem to be focused and end up having issues, hopefully Bobby gets this over with quick. I guess he could use the work though, so why not get him in there.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) He's one of those guys that no one knew how he actually got guys out. Ahh, Danny Graves syndrome. Only Graves got guys out like that for 5 years or so and was a top saves guy in baseball. Simply amazing how long he did it with smoke and mirrors. /semi off-topic

Boone Logan...
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Javier Lopez has a 0.00 ERA down at Charlotte in 9IP FWIW. I think they're gonna keep Logan up until he actually starts costing them games though. Not like it's a huge problem ATM, just like Brian Anderson really. At least Brian has shown himself to be useful with his stellar defense out in CF....

What the f*** happened to Jesse Crain? This guy was like 9-0 or something out of the pen for the Twins late last year and now he couldn't get his sister out. Wow, another skud missle right there and White brings it back.

Hmm, well he saved the homer but Paulie gets a double out of it. Not bad.
