  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) He'll be back in the ACC within 3 years. Not sure why he'd leave a powerhouse with great facilities that's easy to recruit at in a relatively inferior conference (remember, a Big 12 team hasn't won it all since Kansas in 1988, 8 years before the league turned into the Big 12). I guess he could leave Texas for the ACC, but he's be stupid to do it.
  2. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) LOL, no green necassary Those 2 aren't even worth green anymore. Oh, and DBAH0, I agree with you on Roy being a perfect fit and you guys having nice bench guards. You guys will keep Darko around, I wouldn't worry about that too much, and Rashard Lewis is the man, so versatile....that would be a great sign. How the hell do you keep up so well with the NBA in Australia?
  3. LOOGY!!!!! (Man I love that term). As long as this kid can get 1 or 2 guys out in certain spots and Big Bobby doesn't flatline, our bullpen should still be ok.
  4. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) The bullpen will not be below average. I don't think they will be either, Coop is just too damn good for it to happen. Plus, our starters will cover up a lot of the flaws our bullpen has IMO. But even if they are below average, we'll still be fine IMO. They just can't suck, and they definitely won't be that bad.
  5. For some reason, I have a feeling this kid is going to do a great job and turn into one of those unbelieveable stories like Jenks did last year.
  6. Here's my list for the year: If Jim Thome stays healthy and the bullpen can just be manageably below average, we return to the playoffs. The end.
  7. http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-d...ov=ap&type=lgns Based on the many ugly angles involved in this story (college athletes, out of control parties, rape, race, rich vs. poor) I'm going to go out on a limb and say this story will get pretty ugly.
  8. QUOTE(benbacca37 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) It's being covered by a white tarp. You have to look through it. Think like a wet T-shirt contest. As good a noob post as you'll ever see. Bravo!
  9. I would also point out that Phoenix followed last nights stirring 110-72 beatdown at New Jersey by going to Milwaukee and being destroyed 132-110. The highlight of this game, other than the fact that both teams had 7 (and almost 8) players in double figures, was the fact that Milwaukee scored 46 points in the 3rd quarter. And in one of the most disturbing/bizarre developments of the entire season thusfar, former Michigan State guard and current NBA journeyman (at best) Charlie Bell had a triple double with 19 points, 13 dimes, and 10 rebounds for the Bucks.
  10. With 7-2 5 star Jason Bennett coming in (and who knows, maybe a mystery guest too) and star Cartier Martin returning, Kansas State should be solid next year. When the calvary of Beasley, Mayo, Walker, and a mystery guest or 2 arrives in 2007, yikes.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) True. But that would be a fun team to watch. I still can't see him landing all those guys. He's an absolute lock to land 4 of them, the only one that's not a lock is Pope, who might end up at Pittsburgh.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Huggins will find a way to f*&k up good talent. He's got a knack for it. Yep. But I agree with JFFL that beware Big 12, since he will rake in the talent. Beware NCAA Tournament? Now that is a different story when it comes to Huggy Bear. Also, Doyel is right in this article but package deals happen all the time, so it's not exactly some sort of breaking unethical practice.
  13. Bulls blow a 4th quarter lead due to amazingly bad shooting and lose to Orlando at home. A crushing loss for the playoff hopes. Tyson Chandler with a solid game, 2 points and 7 rebounds, and Ben Gordon also looked good with a 5 for 17 effort from the field. The Bulls were 3 for 21 from the field in the 4th and 15-28 from the line overall. Hey, another lottery pick wouldn't be too bad I guess.....
  14. This Orlando team has scary deep talent up front. Combine that with somebody like Brandon Roy or Randy Foye (hey that rhymed) or even Carney or Brewer to play guard off of their high pick this year, and look out (although even with the pick, they still will need another guard).
  15. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) He's actually Native American. "Part of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina." That is according to his website. Hmm....interesting. Well at any rate he's not the all american whitey I thought they'd hire. That shouldn't matter at all, but it does.
  16. Wow, there is more out there on Sampson's issues than I thought http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/teams/report/OK http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/9153113 Obviously Indiana is a WAY better job than Oklahoma, but there might be other reasons why he wanted to get outta there.
  17. That's the thing I want to make PERFECTLY clear. Indiana students and people like those that post here are VERY good fans. The people I talk about (which are sadly a large part of the fan base) when I say things like I did earlier in this thread are the older folks and townies and rednecks who still want crazy ass Bobby Knight as coach. The reasons that I question this hire are that Sampson runs a VERY poor offense (although he's a very good defense/rebounding coach, which is a good thing in the Big 10) has a lot of dirty recruiting history (although I don't think he's ever actually been sanctioned, so I can see why that wouldn't matter here) and I also just wonder how much better of a coach he is than Davis. Although now that I think about it, Davis was run out of town more by the townies and dope portion of IU fans than he was the administration, so I guess it's not like they fired Davis to hire Izzo or something.
  18. The one big question I have about Sampson is how much better of a coach is he than Mike Davis? I'm not sure I have much evidence to say there is a significant difference, which is why this hire surprises me so much. I thought FOR SURE Crean was the guy to be honest.
  19. I can't believe Indiana hired another black coach, I think a big part of why Davis would have never been accepted was race. I know the Indiana fans here are good fans and to you guys it has nothing to do with it, but Indiana has a noticeable base of dopey fans and remember that the KKK started right down the street. Overall, this isn't a bad hire nearly like Alford would be, but I question how big of an improvement Sampson is over Davis, and I thougt Indana would be hiring a much bigger name than this. Sampson WILL recruit better, and since it's Indiana he probably would get caught like the sanctions you will see at Oklahoma within a few years because of what he was doing. But his slow down style and again, his race, will make him a hard sell for the majority of fans....especially considering the names that have been thrown around.
  20. The Stromile Swift comparison is very fair based on school, athletic ability, skill set, and size....as well as now projected draft position. But if anything, the Swift thought would scare people off. Swift is a #2 overall pick who has been in the league several years and has a career average of 9 points and 5 boards a game, numbers he is right around this season. To me that is a bust.
  21. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) I love Howry. He said pitching with the Sox was unforgettable here. He had a great time and still loves the organization. Eyre is the one who hates the Sox and the organization with a passion and is still trying to forget what he calles "the lost years" on the southside. Good luck facing our "black and silver" jerseys this year Scott. With all due respect, you couldn't be any more wrong if you tried. Howry is a arrogant prick who rips the White Sox orgainzation every chance he gets while trying to build up the Cubs now. He's a perfect member of Trib Co. As for Eyre, him calling his time in Chicago with the Sox "the lost years" is more referring to the fact he was dealing with the difficult to deal with adult ADD which really messed up his game. I think "the lost years" refers to the fact he had ADD to deal with then and is now recovered and pitching better than it does dissing the Sox.
  22. Pods will be fine. The media over reaction to this has a bit humerous though, the only reason he even came out of the game was Herm MADE HIM leave the game. And he didn't leave until 2 innings after the incident. Yawn.
  23. The thing with a guy like Thomas is, you look at him now and you see a shorter Tyson Chandler.....but you see his freakish athletic ability combined with the 3 mid range jumpers he hit against Texas, and you also see a kid that could develop into an Amare Stoudemire type with a little work on the jumper and in the weight room. He's a top 10 lock and is going to go pro now though, Big Baby will probably go as well. Those 2 have made themselves a ton of money. Oh, and draft express is easily the best site for draft stuff, just so you know. nbadraft.net can also be used as a reference point since they often have better and more detailed individual player profiles, but draft express is better with their mock drafts.
  24. The White Sox worry about defending their World Championship, the Cubs worry about a spring training tie that officially will be gone and forgotten forever as of Sunday with the regular season starting. Yeah, nothing more needs to be said than that.
  25. Damnit I missed these thing as it is, and now you make the best one yet. Well done Goldy, thanks for the wallpaper.
