QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I believe that it was 2001. That is correct. I still have the Carlos Lee throwback jersey from that year, with the American Flag and no name plate on the back and old school look....awesome jersey.

The logoless hat thing sounds lame, but assuming the jersey Santo=Dorf posted is the we are wearing, I must say I like it. It's really not Cubbish AT ALL except the C. The colors are far too cool to be Cub.

In terms of individual game, the Chaminade upset is bigger and it's not even close. If you are asking what's the bigger upset between Chaminade over Virginia and George Mason beating Wichita State, UNC, MSU, and UConn....they you have a debate. But i'd still say Chaminade, Virginia was much more dominant than any team George Mason beat, and Chaminade wasn't/isn't even D1.

I don't like the UCLA/Illini comparison. If Illinois had as good a true point guard as Farmar this season, the offense would have been near the top of the Big 10. Defensively UCLA is a lot better than the Illini and more consistent as well, since their players don't take stupid fouls all game. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) The similarities between Jenks and Ricky Vaughn are frightening (especially how they can't find their fastballs from their first to second seasons ). Also, the way Vaughn comes in and K's the first hitter in Major League is similar to what Jenks did against Bagwell. Ehh.... Jenks hasn't pitched in the always difficult California Penal League, and Vaughn weighs about 75 pounds less than Jenks. -

That was hit even farther than the first. Well gone, oppo field. And one of the Scrub fans throws it back, awesome. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) As long as one party consistently questions the legitimacy of the other Presidency, you'll see things like this. You saw it with Bill Clinton, and you see it with George Bush. These are extremely serious allegations though. And at first glance appear to be legit. Correct on all counts. Bush's biggest issue is he has a lot of members of his own party (like myself) questioning his legitimacy on a lot of issues. And rightly so.

Tyrus Thomas' profile on draftexpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=511 I love the projection of the WORST case NBA senario for Thomas, it's so true. -
This isn't exactly breaking news. The only way the U.S. could be dumb enough to go to Iraq was the obvious fact that Bush wanted to finish what daddy started.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) If UCLA loses their first game in Indy and Florida wins their first game in Indy, I win a grand total of 2,000$. Man, I'm so nervous now. That's some serious doh, especially for a 16 year-old. Yeah, this probably didn't need its own thread, but I needed to brag a little. On paper, your in good shape. But paper has never met a motherf***er quite like George Mason. -
The Official George Mason Bandwagon Thread

Hell yeah I'm in. George Mason is the best thing to happen to College Hoops since God Shamgod. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) I think you underestimate Garrett Temple. Does he score a lot? No. But he's a stopper on the other end. He's frustrated the likes of Steve Burtt, Acie Law, Redick and both of Texas' starting guards. I wouldn't dismiss him. He can't guard everybody. Florida is the most balanced team probably in the entire tournament next to UConn and Texas, who are both gone.

Who's going to win it all?
whitesoxfan101 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) The question is what happens to George Mason in the future? Even if they lose in the Final 4 that is a huge accomplishment. Will they become like Gonzaga where they are in a mid-major conference but are consistently in the top 25 and recruiting top talent? While Gonzaga has never made the Final 4, they made multiple tourney runs before they became a powerhouse. Let's go one step further: what if George Mason wins it all? Is that what they have to do in order to maintain good teams? It will be very interesting to see what happens because not only are they the lowest Final 4 seed ever, I don't think a mid-major team has ever made it before. There is no previous case of a mid-major in the Final 4. Penn and Indiana State in 1979 was the last case where it happened. -

Also, I'll say UCLA wins it all since nobody is going to pick them outside of LA. That would be quite fitting. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) I'll admit, I didn't know Florida's fg% defense was that low. However, I feel LSU has gone up against better teams. What guard does Florida have that's considerably better than Darrel Mitchell? I can't think of one. Ok I guess after further review I was wrong. Mitchell numberswise is by far the superior guard on offense, however in terms of guard depth, Florida BLOWS LSU away. Taurean Green averages 13.4 and 5 dimes a game, Lee Humphrey is at 10.7 and 2 dimes a game, and Brewer (who can play guard or forward) averages 12.6, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.4 dimes a game. Also, all have plus dime/turnover ratios. Darrel Mitchell is the only LSU guard that averages more than 5 points a game. He averages 17 a game along with 4 and a half dimes and 3 turnovers a game. He also shoots a solid 44 percent from the field and 40 from the arc. The thing with Mitchell is his shot has really been off this tournament since the perimeter defense is ALL OVER HIM since no other LSU guards have any offensive game at all.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Like I said, the actual score can be deceiving. Yeah, both games were close, but LSU physically dominated both teams. How often does Duke shoot 27.1% from the field? How often does Texas shoot 30.4% from the field? That's all LSU. Ahh go the the final 4 thread if you want to have that debate. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) Final scores can sometimes be deceiving. Yeah, they did struggle with A&M, but they flat manhandled Duke and Texas. Well considering they lead by 2 with under a minute left vs. Duke and were tied through regulation with Texas, I don't see how it is manhandeling. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) LSUs fg% defense in the tourney is something like 33.4%. That's mind-boggling. I just can't see anybody beating them. Florida FG defense: 80-243 32.9 percent LSU FG defense: 84-248 33.9 percent Florida played South Alabama (14), UW-Milwaukee (11), Georgetown (7), and Villanova (1) LSU played Iona (13), Texas A&M (12), Duke (1), and Texas (2) Pretty much the same competition, except LSU's Texas (a 2) to Florida's Georgetown (a 7). But Texas shot 46.6 percent this year to Georgetown's 46.8 percent, basically a wash. Florida's frontcourt can match LSU, their defense can match LSU, and their guards are MUCH better on offense.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) I haven't gotten that feel at all. LSU has looked the strongest. Not sure how you figure. LSU was 1 shot from losing to A&M, and had to go to OT last night. Even the Duke game was close until the final minute. Florida had trouble with G-Town (who was playing VERY well), but has otherwise pretty much breezed to the Final 4. -

Florida, although hell George Mason could for all I know. But Florida seems like the best team by a significant margin right now. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) LSU all the way. I think their front-court will be too much for any team to handle. Horford and Noah can at least play close to them, and Florida's guards are vastly superior. For the record, Florida beat LSU by 9 at home and by 16 in the SEC Tournament already this year (although Tyrus Thomas didn't play in the SEC Tourney game, so that means little).
-
Who do you guys like now that we know who's in the Final 4? Of course George Mason can't be counted out, but IMO Florida is the clear favorite right now. They have the dominant inside player(s), the solid point guard, and the balance.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) When was the last time that none of the #1 seeds made it to the Final Four? 1980. First time since the tourney expanded to 64 teams (and now 65) that a mid major is in the Final 4, and the first time zero #1 seeds are there.

Villanova showing a lot of heart to be even close in this. Down 7 and with major foul issues though, they are in some doo doo. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Nova can't hit a 3 to save their lives in this tourny and they keep advancing so I'm not sure if that's the best example. The 3 is how they got a road "easy enough" so they could get this far without hitting 3's. I gave them their props especially for last game, I don't know how they won that one. But I stand by the fact I don't like the 4 guard lineup sillyness.
