Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) If you truly think you would rather have Quintana than Sale, be my guest. however, I think you may one of the few. There is a reason boston wanted Sale not Quintana even though Quintana had a more favorable contract. Who said that? I didn't. I said in a Postseason matchup, I'd favor Q, all else being equal, mostly because Sale tends to break down at the end of the year. Over the course of a season or career, of course I'd take Sale, but not by much.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) I think a big part of it is Sale can give you a bit better of a regular season than Quintana but also the possibility of a Klubot or Madbum like run of postseason dominance that can almost single handedly win a title. Quintana and Sale have roughly the same regular season value when you factor in durability, age and contract, but Sale's postseason potential is off the charts. It's funny that you say that, because based on Sale's September meltdowns and Q's incredible consistency, in a Sale vs. Q postseason matchup, provided everything else was relatively equal, I'd put my money on Q. Of course other teams want to undervalue Q, they're the ones potentially paying the price for him, but to suggest that the White Sox should significantly lower their standards from a Sale package is wrong IMO. If another team wants Q, they need to pay an appropriate price for him, and the White Sox should not back down from that line of thought just because those teams don't want to do what it takes to get a player the caliber of Q.

Since the 3 way deal is unlikely to emerge, and it's almost 100 pages ago now, maybe the thread title should change?

White Sox will keep trying Collins as a C
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) I was talking about Ross being released. Narvaez had better offensive numbers last year with the Sox than he did at AA and AAA. That's why I feel he will regress, and ultimately won't hit enough to be a back up on a good team. I really doubt he has a .350 OBP again. Isn't a .700 OPS C considered good and a borderline starter? Because that doesn't seem like an impossible line for him, maybe something like .270/.340/.360, which doesn't seem implausible. Combine that with good D and framing, and I think he's at least worth a look. Worst case, he gets you closer to the #1 overall pick in 2018.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) It should be a caution to all those that think the White Sox already have the 2019 greatest rotation in baseball. Eaton and Davidson were similarly ranked as prospects. One turned out better than could be expected, the other went from 'when can he be called up and not be a super 2" to a AAA strikeout king with 2 White Sox AB in 3 years. If the White Sox get good returns on the rest of the ML assets they trade and have that development track record throughout, this team will be a force to be reckoned with in the not too distant future.

Sox eyeing FA sluggers
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Good and relevant: http://southside.locals.baseballprospectus...2017-white-sox/ Give it to the rotating cast of youth. Might as well, gives more reason to keep them on the roster and more ABs for them. Or move Frazier or Melky to DH and see if one of the fringy players the team has can develop into something worthwhile.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Q and Nate Jones for Schwarber, Baez and Happ + (Cease or Underwood) work for everyone? Would you have a problem trading with the Cubs? It wouldn't feel good helping the Cubs out with Q and Jones but that haul would be exactly what we need. Yo to CF, Baez & Happ at 2B/3B Anderson at SS, Schwarber at DH leave Abreu at 1B. We find ourselves a Catcher and corner OFs and half our pitching prospects turn out well we're locked and loaded for 2019 and fun to watch until then. Add in Eloy Jimenez to that and you're getting close to the Cubs price for Q.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/should-...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed One correction, Q is left handed. Anyway. One of Happ/Baez and Jimenez is a good place to start. Happ, Jimenez, Candelario + would work for me. You haven't factored the Cubs tax in.

I hope Quintana gets dealt before this thread surpasses Cespedesmania.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) Could he be? If so and the Yankees are a trade partner, does Torres have to be in the deal? Torres should be the top player coming back in any Q deal with the Yankees.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) Yankees fans thinking torres can be the next derek jeter. I don't see that projection for Torres.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
My ideal for a Q + Robertson trade to NYY would be Torres + Rutherford + Andujar + Adams + Fowler + Montgomery

A game I remember
http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CH...200510120.shtml Mark Buerhle pitched a gem and said after the game that he was ready to go out for the 10th. I believe it the way he was pitching that night. A.J. found himself in the midst of yet another controversy, and, as always seemed to happen that year for whatever reason, Joe Crede came through in the clutch when you least expected him to. Possibly my favorite game of the entire run, especially when you consider the importance of it in the overall scheme of things. Losing this game would've meant going to Anaheim down 0-2, which may have lead to eventual elimination instead of the championship run on which the team embarked.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) For that package you need to include Jones at least. That's 5 Top 100 prospects. Q is probably worth Glasnow, Bell and Newman. Jones worth Keller. Together with a contract that may equal adding Meadows there, but that's a tall order. I think Q is worth more than that. Sale drew two of the top 30 prospects in baseball, including arguably the #1 prospect, and 2 more interesting pieces. Q is only slightly less valuable, and that gap could be made up for a team like the Pirates in the extra year of control. Glasnow is a top 10 prospect, Bell maybe top 50, but that means there should be another top 100-150 piece and another interesting piece coming to the Sox. If only 3 pieces are coming to Chicago for Q, it should be Glasnow, Meadows, and Bell.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) To add one more thing if $ is the hold up. I would love to see Hahn take Antonio Bastardo back taking the pirates off the hook for Q's "big" contract; they'd have a 500k surplus from this deal. Q to the pirates Meadows/Bell/Keller + Diaz/Escobar/Hearn and a potential useful bullpen piece to be flipped at the deadline with the Pirates being able to keep Andrew McCutchen. If they're sucessful getting to the post season no worries if not at the deadline they can flip him to recoup some of their loss. I agree with your premise, but would look for a Glasnow, Meadows, Bell, Newman, Keller return for taking back a contract.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) The Point of Pittsburgh's take on getting Q, seeing how I was singing there praises early on this offseason. That package would need to include Keller. The only 3 player package I'd take from Pittsburgh for Q is Glasnow, Meadows, Bell. If they're still doing the 3 team, a package of Glasnow, Rutherford, Andujar, Keller would work, but I have no idea why the Yankees would want McCutchen, unless they plan to extend him, but if that's the case, why not just wait until he hits FA and not lose the prospects?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Moncada @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) I'd take Vlad Jr over most of the guys that have been talked about in this thread You could swap him in for Alford, I suppose, but my point was that I don't think Toronto gives up those 3 players for McCutchen.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Blue Jays get: McCutchen Pirates get: Quintana White Sox get: Glasnow, Newman, Vlad Guerrero Jr, Alford, and Tellez I'd take that, but I doubt Toronto gives up that much for McCutchen, and I'd prefer Keller to Newman. Take out Vlad Jr. and swap Keller in for Newman and I think it's a more realistic package.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) The only reason for the Yankees to get involved is if the Pirates are unwilling to move a top bat. That's why the Glasnow to NYY idea is interesting. But if they aren't interested in moving Torres for Q, why would they for Glasnow? Torres is the only piece the Yankees have that interests me more than Glasnow.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) This is why I don't buy this deal at all. The Yankees don't have a need for McCutchen When has that stopped the Yankees?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) the problem with that interesting pitts-nyy-cws rumor is if yanks trade prospects, they'd want quintana, not an OF https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/812370409630892032 Well if they want Q, they'll need to give up Torres in addition to the pieces rumored in the deal to be in the right value neighborhood. Sounds like they may want Cutch because he won't cost them Torres or Frazier, though the Yankees have never really been an org to prospect hug.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
I, like many here, don't understand why the Yankees want McCutchen, but just rolling with that assumption, here's the best semblance of a fair deal I can come to: Yankees get: McCutchen Pirates get: Quintana, Chance Adams White Sox get: Glasnow, Rutherford, Andujar, Keller, (maybe Diaz?) Makes the most sense of anything I can work out. Yankees slight overpay out of a deep system to get a great bounceback candidate to flip/keep, Pirates get their man and a pitching prospect that makes them a lot more comfortable parting with Keller, and the White Sox get a boatload of talent for Q in a deal that neither of these teams would've topped with just their own prospects.
-
Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
I think the White Sox end up getting Glasnow, Rutherford, Andujar, Keller, and I really like that package. If they could somehow swing getting Diaz as well, it would be an outright fantastic package.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) Lol I'm going to laugh when Hahn gets Glasnow, Meadows and Bell for Quintana. I wouldn't laugh as much as I would be very happy and excited for the future of this team.
