  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) Wait, what? I think he wants Torres and Torrens.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Or else they really have doomed themselves to another decade of failure. So what if they trade Q for a package similar to the Sale package (maybe a couple more hitters since no one else has a Moncada) that has pitching as part of the value in the deal as well, then they draft well the next 2 years, then, just as this crop of players is coming up, they sign Harper and Machado? Still screwed?
  3. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) I can see the Astros and Rox being in play for Quintana or a mega Quintana and Abreu package both have the farms and needs. If the Astros want Q and Abreu, they'd better be prepared to give up Bregman++++.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) The potential surplus we got out of Eaton is probably just as high. Much higher, unless Moncada becomes Trout 2.0 and Kopech becomes Syndergaard 2.0. The Sox may have gotten 2 TOR starters for Eaton, and Dunning is a very nice lottery ticket.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Tomorrow (Thursday) at 8am CT is the Rule 5 draft. Given the White Sox are rebuilding, it's possible they could use one of the two current open roster slots for a pick. They also have a couple guys at risk of being selected away. Here's a preview of who they might add and who they might lose. They should take Cave and see if they have any luck developing him into a quality regular.
  6. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) Pitchers. Great. f*** you, Hahn. The Sox might get 2 TOR starters out of this deal. But, yeah, f*** Hahn.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Giolito, Rodon, Fulmer, Kopech... HOLY s*** Don't forget Hansen if we're talking about Kopech.
  8. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) This... If they come out of this firesale with a ton of arms and then boom/bust lower level hitters - it will be safe to call this a failure. Which was what a lot of people feared allowing this regime to handle a rebuild. Regardless of the pitching talent acquired, you did not do what was desperately needed. If you weren't going to load up on hitters, you should've kept these guys who are under control and just continue to spiral in mediocrity while hoping your drafting gets better. It's almost as if they're oblivious to how bad they are at developing, scouting and drafting hitters. They've gotten better at all of that. It isn't 2013 anymore.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) I just despise that team and it's front office. But if they want to give us prospects fine. We could have theoretically a top 10 farm system after this trade. And that's before trading Q, Abreu, Frazier, Robertson, Jones, Melky, and adding the next 3 draft crops, the next two of which will likely have top 3-5 picks. This farm system is going to be #1 before it's all said and done.
  10. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Servino is a defensive catcher who's bat is way behind developing. I just don't get why we wouldn't insist on position players. I get pitching is king but man we need some hitters to go with these guys. He's 22 and hasn't even played a game in AAA, though he's been in MLB twice and did very well in his most recent cup of coffee there. I think the bat can catch up if you give it time.
  11. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) what about Giolito + Lopez + Severino? That's what I'm hoping for.
  12. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/war/leaders Eaton ranked 15th in baseball in WAR last year according to espn http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0 fangraphs has him ranked 11th in war you guys will have to find the bwar/fwar stuff, can't find it anywhere He was 11th in fWAR, according to what you just posted. If I understand it correctly, fWAR = Fangraphs WAR and bWAR = Baseball Reference WAR.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) How the f*** is Robles not in the deal Because others are and he doesn't really fit the timeline, especially if the Sox trade away all of their assets?
  14. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) No Robles. Ken Rosenthal ‏ Sources: #Nationals close to acquiring Eaton from #WhiteSox. Robles not in deal. Giolito, Lopez, Severino would work.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Rosenthal confirms. It's legit. Is it done? Or did he just confirm they're in "serious talks" or whatever the phrase of the day is?
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) f*** it, I'll throw some s*** out there because I'm bored while waiting for the next trade to drop. How about Q + Jones to Houston for Kyle Tucker, AJ Reed, Joe Musgrove and Francis Martes? I like that package for just Q. Adding Jones should bring about 3 more names, at least 2 of which are high quality.
  17. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin Source: White Sox working on a deal to send Adam Eaton to the Nationals. Giolito, Robles, and Severino ought to do it.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah, I actually feel good about him. It's Moncada...after reading 9 pages of SoSH I am now convinced he is the next Andy Marte. Boston fans are notorious for this. Their player is the greatest thing since sliced bread...until your team acquires him, at which point he was obviously a worthless bum and couldn't possibly be worth what they got in return. Believe it or not, they're actually worse about this in football. All that said to say that I'll trust the scouting community at large, who seems to think Moncada is the best young talent they've seen in a long time.
  19. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 13m13 minutes ago Short chat with #Whitesox owner Jerry Reinsdorf: "Boston knows what it got (Sale). We hope we know what we got." #Redsox Kind of a cryptic message from the chairman. Well, we know where the constant "win now" mandate came from, even when it was against the team's best interest.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) What's the initial take from people regarding the return? Fair, overwhelmed, underwhelmed? Fair, though I'm slightly disappointed because I'd hoped they would stop pursuing the overvalued assets like the Moncadas of the world and just focus on taking everything of value from a good farm system, the idea being that some of it would stick reasonably.
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) @BNightengale The #WhiteSox getting besieged with calls now for Jose Quintana, but the Sox are expected to step back, catch breath, before dealing him. Apparently, trading Sale was too much work for the Front Office, they need a break. Not a bad idea, don't want to rush into a Q deal and not get the best package.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Could Q possibly fetch Robles? We're definitely not getting both Giolito and Robles, but I feel like one of them MIGHT be possible if we package Robertson in too. Why not both? Q is almost as good as Sale and offers an extra year of control. If Nats want Q, they should be talking Giolito, Robles, +++
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Would bet anything Frazier is next. I think you'll see teams like WAS, HOU and ATL come for Quintana next. Nationals can give that Giolito/Robles package for Q. Hopefully there's four or more other names coming in that deal of that's the starting point.
  24. It would be very funny to now go get a 5-7 player package from the Yankees built around Clint Frazier and Gleyber Torres for Q. OR, go chat the Nationals up about that Giolito/Robles package for Q.
  25. They insisted on getting the "star power" guy, and therefore likely lost some incremental value in getting additional low level talent that could eventually hugely swing this in their favor, though Basabe is an interesting piece in that regard.
