  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) I wonder if the Sox took Goodwin with the intent to make a hard push on him if they can't get Thompson signed? Hopefully they'll just sign them both and Williams...I'm being way too optimistic there, right?
  2. Sox pick 2B Kyle Davis from Delaware (SR) Big run on MIs here...
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) A front of the rotation pitcher is a big need but so is an athletic outfielder. Since prep outfielders have a high probability of striking (albeit lower) and the fact that Goodwin is the better talent, I'll still say it is a bigger need. Either way these guys are 3-5 years away from contributing. Maybe I'm just seeing 6'6" righty out of HS who already throws low-mid 90s and getting a little too excited. I'm really hoping they sign williams though, I don't see any RHSPs in the org to be excited about right now (though if they decide to try Buch out as a starter, he's an exciting prospect) QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) 22nd round selection, Zach Davidson, was a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, which goes out to the nations finest collegiate shortstop. Hits for average and played good defense in college. Below is a link to some video of him hitting a double off a 94MPH fastball. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=...ASQQndMFl-9QHSw College Profile: http://www.davidsonwildcats.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=130 I think you mean Zach Kayne from Davidson.
  4. Sox pick 2B Matthew Harughty from Oklahoma (SR)
  5. Sox pick LHP Michael Strong from Iowa Western (Juco)
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) Goodwin. Williams will be a bit easier sign, however, both will take at 300K and my guess is you'd have to go close to a M to get Goodwin to sign. Okay, then, followup question: Which do you feel is more of an organizational need given the current farm system, draft picks, and ML team?
  7. Sox pick 2B Jeffrey Tezak from Nebraska (SR)
  8. Interesting side note, the Sox have a twitter (InsideTheSox), and it announced the lineup earlier today, Beckham is batting 7th, ahead of Getz and BA.
  9. Sox select RHP Goldy Simmons from SDSU (JR)
  10. Sox pick SS Zach Kayne from Davidson (SR)
  11. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) Jared McDonald SS from ASU... Didn't ASU produce Pedroia and Kinsler recently?
  12. Wait, teams are allowed to draft current major leaguers? The Sox need to draft Zack Greinke next. Then Albert Pujols.
  13. Directed at someone with a lot of knowledge of the farm and such: if you had to choose one of Williams and Goodwin to sign, which would you pick?
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) This is a good value pick. If he would have been eligible to go last year, he would have went in the top 10 rounds but he had a lot of command issues this past season and dropped. Good arm for a lefty, solid secondary stuff. Nice value righ there. Why wasn't he eligible last year?
  15. Sox pick LHP Nathan Reed from Pitt (JR)
  16. Two most recent picks: Philip Negus RHP Wake Forest (JR) Brady Shoemaker LF Indiana St. (SR)
  17. They can't score more than 4 runs. Beckham needs to get his first hit, Danks, Viciedo, Flowers, Allen, and anyone else that might be able to hit better than .250 needs to develop, and the hitters that are going to stay on the team need to learn how to get more than 1 run home with the bases loaded and nobody out.
  18. With the way Buehrle's pitching right now, if Danks can just keep the runs off the board, the Sox will have 3 #1 caliber pitchers given Peavy says yes.
  19. Thank you for finally getting this done Kenny. Buehrle, you're my hero for taking such a discount.
  20. You think the Padres would trade Peavy for Dye?
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 5, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) I'm not even going to argue with you about it. Anyone can see that over the last few weeks Erstad's been excellent on the field. What's Brian Anderson's OPS+? I'll bet it's more like OPS- Considering OPS+ goes on a scale of 100 being average, Erstad having a 79 OPS+ could be considered an OPS-.
  22. QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) skip it, like a normal american I would, but I've done that too much lately...perhaps I'll just leave early. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) I missed it because of class. Just saw it'll be replayed at 11:30 tonight as well. YES!
  23. In the words of Jack Buck: "I DON'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW!" QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) The Cubs game is on at 1:30AM the Sox game will be replayed tomorrow at 1:30PM. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I have class at 2.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 02:08 AM) $17M/$23M per year. YEAR 1: $17M YEAR 2: $17M YEAR 3: $17M YEAR 4: $23M YEAR 5: $23M YEAR 6: $23M YEAR 7: $23M ---------------- TOTAL: $143M over 7 years. That makes more sense. Can Minnesota afford that though?
  25. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Perhaps 17 million for 3 years, 23 million for the last 4 -- which en total becomes 143mil/7yrs. About 20 million per year. Hardly unreasonable. Your math is just a tad off there. That's 7 years/$40 million, or less that $6 million per year. No way Santana takes that little.
