  1. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) Jacoby (how do you even pronounce that?) Ellisbury. Ja-CO-by (at least that's the way I've heard it before), and I doubt the Red Sox will part with him. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) Michael Bourn (I really like him a lot, exciting player) Isn't he pretty much untouchable?
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) He didn't pitch against the White Sox as an Expo. His numbers against the Sox as a Yankee - 16 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 11 K - which is good for a 1.13 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and a near 3:1 K/BB So he was good against the White Sox. That also means he had a 5+ ERA against the rest of the league that year. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not see that Vazquez.
  3. QUOTE(lemon44 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Now that's why Kenny got Javy. Great game reminds of what Javy did to us back in 2004 when he was a yankee. More like what he did with Montreal in 2001 or 2003. He was a disaster as a Yankee.
  4. Considering I'm a Colts fan, I'll take the 05 Sox in a landslide.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) MARK MULDER WILL NOT SIGN FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN $14M OVER 2 YEARS, HE'S NOT GOING TO TURN DOWN ~$12M OF GUARANTEED MONEY FROM THE RANGERS/CARDINALS JUST TO PLAY FOR THE SOX. $14M over 2 IS INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE FOR A PLAYER WHO'S AS BIG OF A QUESTION MARK AS MULDER IS. Why do you say that with such certainty? Mulder DID grow up a Sox fan, and he wouldn't be the first person in recent years to turn down more money from the Rangers to play for the White Sox (Dye).
  6. Does anyone else think that Mulder could turn out like Dye if he's willing to accept a contract below market value?
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) I think the only reason he wouldn't net as much would be the additional cash he is owed. Its amazing on this board how awful pitchers on other teams are and how valuable they are as White Sox players when they have similar numbers. It could be because Garcia is 12 years younger, and put up better numbers than Randy. Call it a hunch.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) According to KFMB in San Diego, Chad Tracy is involved in the trade talks. Wow.
  9. QUOTE(kevo880 @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) I believe KW has gone on the record and said it's mainly between Floyd, Haeger, and Danks. I can't remember where I read that though. Predicted order of finish (if that's the case): 1) Charlie Haeger 2) Gavin Floyd 3) John Danks (not that he won't perform well, I just don't think he'll show enough to get the job, or even come close)
  10. If Scott Linebrink is part of the SD package, he's already too pricy to acquire. The Sox may be interested, but I'm not, especially at that kind of price.
  11. The knuckler gets the 5th spot.
  12. QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) Danks split last season between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Oklahoma, where he combined to go 9-9 with a 4.24 ERA in 27 games (26 starts). He has a career minor league record of 21-30 with a 4.20 ERA in 92 games (82 starts). Question: Did Danks pitch in pitcher friendly parks ??? I don't know about the AA park he was in, but I'm fairly sure most of he parks in the PCL are a hitter's wet dream.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) From what some of us have heard, yes, there is more. While the reason given is frustrating to take, it makes some sense. That reason being? (for those of us who are less enlightened and still extremely frustrated with this deal, such as myself)
  14. QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) Me too. In my mind...McCarthy=Kip Wells. If McCarthy goes a full season with Texas...I predict his record will be around 11-16. I missed the part where Kip Wells had the stuff McCarthy has.
  15. QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) masset is on the 40, danks is not. Danks isn't even on the 40? Wow.
  16. Williams better be right about Danks. If not, the Sox are up a creek on this one...
  17. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) How come Wainwright could have success out of the pen and McCarthy could not? Some players need their routine to succeed. McCarthy was one of those players, and he admitted as much prior to the 2006 campaign.
  18. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) your point helps me, because if our system has not produced anybody good, then that trend should continue on with mccarthy, and if that is the case, 3 pitchers > 1 pitcher So 3 bad pitchers is better than 1 bad pitcher? That's great logic. Anyway, McCarthy has done well when given oppurtunities to start at the ML level. Danks hasn't even seen the ML level yet, and didn't exactly light up the PCL last year, which leads to the question: How far away is he from big league action? That's not a good thing to be asking for a team that's trying to win now.
  19. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) im still waiting for someone to name a pitching prospect that the white sox traded and then that prospect became good. has not happened in the last 20 years at least, and therefore, I have every reason to believe the white sox are right again. Yet you want to trust the system that has not produced any good pitchers to develop good pitchers?
  20. What... The... HELL?! Who's the 5 now? Gavin Floyd?
  21. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) More evidence of how rediculous the FA market is for pitchers Jason Marquis: "...will seek an annual salary of at least $10 million. The right-hander went 14-16 with a 6.02 ERA with the Cardinals in 2006 and allowed a league-leading 35 home runs." The sad part is some team will probably give it to him.
  22. I'd like to see Mulder come home and resurrect his career (he grew up a Sox fan), but somehow, I don't see it happening.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) In some ways, it seemed like KW was in panic mode tonight trying to get a deal done after the Schmidt/Lilly signings. On Comcast before, he said there were several intriguing offers, but this was the one he liked the most. Gavin Floyd had one bad half season. He's also 23. I think a 23 year old who is good enough to make the show and has a plus fastball and curve deserves a little bit more than one half season (in a bandbox might I add) to prove himself capable of being a good-great ML starter.
