QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) in what horrific fashion does pittsburgh lose this game? None. Don't even think like that.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Gameday finally catches up...I think If you're talking about CBS Sportsline, I've been using it for the past few minutes, and it's beenm working fine for me. And that's the inning, still 9-2 Pirates.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) No, it's not anymore an abberation than our own loss to the Pirates. What are you talking about? The White Sox at least kept it close.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) The posters at HalosHeaven say that Figgins for Crede would be a fair swap. Haha. I guess we can forget about that happening then.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Castro was traded to philly for haigwood today. Sox prospect for Sox prospect.

QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Great win. Jon, Uribe, and the bullpen did a good job. Go get em tomorrow and I hope the Pirates can start a winning streak damnit. They're due for a 4 game winning streak.

QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) I think you are wrong based on what I have witnessed so far. If you speculate that the tigers will fade, I can easily speculate that the Sox will fade. They are mirror images, and in fact the Tigers are slightly better through 77 games. With that said, I do not think the Sox will fade. There is nothing to suggest that the Tigers will lose 11 games in the standings to the Twins. The Tigers ERA is a nearly half a run better than any other team in the AL. They are 5th in offense and they are the most effienct defensive team in baseball (.730), slightly ahead of the White Sox (.717). Whats the old saying? Pitching and defense. Detroit has so much pitching its sick. The Tigers have 5guys not currently starting that would be decent starters for many teams in MLB (Sanchez, Ledezma, Maroth, Colon, Tata). Our starters are flat out sick. They havent lost in 19 starts. You assume they will tire, I assume they wont. If they do, we have a freaking sick pen...as good as there is in the league. Do I think they are better than the Sox? No. Do I think they CAN win the division? Yes. Do I think they will blow a 11 game lead on the Twins? Highly unlikely. I base that observation on the stats through 78 games and what I have pesonally seeen WATCHING 78 Games. This team has IT. I can give you two very good reasons the Tigers will fade, based on what we've seen (or maybe more importantly haven't seen) from two of the Tigers' best pitchers: - Kenny Rogers typically is a better first half pitcher, and in the past 5 years prior to this one, he has not had an ERA lower than 4 in the second half. -Justin Verlander has never pitched 130+ innings in one year in his professional or collegiate career, and he's on pace to pitch somewhere between 200-220 innings. If you'd like more reasons, let me know. I'm sure I could come up with some. The Tigers playing 10 games against their main division rival (whom they're currently 1-5 against) at a time when their pitching won't be at its best (i.e. July and August) certainly won't help though.

Maybe Palmiero's story wasn't total bulls***?

I'm hoping the Pirates losing streak ends at 14 and is followed by a 3+ game win streak.

Well the Sox are the only deserving team, so hopefully they win it.

I'm not too keen on picking up a 42 year old. That's more of a Yankee move.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
Dam8610 replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) It absolutely amazes me that any White Sox fan could some how not love Kenny Williams. Who said they don't like Kenny Williams? If he makes stupid moves (i.e. firing Ozzie), he's going to lose all the goodwill and credibility he's built up recently. This is a "what have you done for me lately" business, and firing Ozzie is about the stupidest move he could make right now. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) I'm calling the NAACP...maybe they're on to something. Seriously, KW has done more for the Sox than Ozzie Guillen ever will do. This current roster could probably win at a similar clip with me as the manager. This thread is beyond hysterical. Wow. It's unbelievable how quickly some forget 2003. The Sox had a team capable of winning a division, and potentially more that year, but because they had a crap manager, they ended up losing out to an inferior Twins team. Ozzie brings an energy and spark the team needs. To say that you could manage the team to a similar record is just a slap in the face to what Ozzie has done for this team since taking over. -
Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
Dam8610 replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Kenny is seriously considering firing Ozzie, then he's lost his touch. I don't think he is though. If he were actually to do something so STUPID (and that would be about the most idiotic thing he could do at this point), he will have lost any credibility he's gained over the past few seasons. -

QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) As a fan, would you rather be at a game that was 20-6 or 1-0? I think that I would choose the 20-6 game only because of the constant excitement, even though I do love a pitcher's duel. I'd take the safe lead every time if we're talking about the White Sox. If we're talking about a game not featuring the Sox, I'll take the 1-0 game.

I think this game is a perfect example of the old baseball saying "These things always even themselves out". In August of 2005, Freddy Garcia pitched an absolute GEM where he carried a no-hitter late into the game. He gave up only one hit in the game, and lost 1-0. (One of the many reasons I hate Johan Santana) I'd say yesterday's game evens that one out.

Is there any closer with better pure stuff than Jenks? Before answering, consider Jenks's known repitoire of pitches: 95-102 MPH Fastball 95-99 MPH Cutter 88-91 MPH Slider (I know he hit 96 with it last night, but unless I see that again, it's an abberation IMO) 82-88 MPH Curveball

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) It's hard for the common fan to appreciate a guy who strikes out a lot and doesn't play the field, which is why Thome will never get the love he should. But anybody that hits in the .280's with 50/135 type numbers and walks a ton (over .400 OBP) is a legend in my book, I just wish everybody else saw it that way. Huh? Isn't that the type of guy the common fan loves?

Did anyone else notice that Bobby threw a slider up there at 96 MPH tonight?! Granted, he had no control over the thing, but that's just sick.
