  1. Hopefully he'll get out of this funk soon. Seems like he's been on the decline for the past month.
  2. The important question: was a game gained?
  3. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Jenks curve looks tighter than last year...or does he throw 2 hooks. He throws a 91 MPH slider/cutter.
  4. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) I don't want to make a move just for the sake of making one through our farm system. People are seriously desperate enough to call up Montero. Everyone's in agreeance that Politte's not a safe bet for us anymore. However, I want someone that can get the job done. Not just another POS. Why not give someone a chance at least until a decent trade option can be found? Like others have said, it can't get much worse at this point. Worst case scenario: The team goes back to square one with a hole in the pen. Best case scenario: Another pen arm is found and no one has to be traded.
  5. QUOTE(Mansoo @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) How about K. Griffey Jr. ?? Where would he play?
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) I know he can supposedly throw hard, but I was very underwhelmed by the very short clip that I saw of him on MLB.com They have the videos up already? Can you put a link to them up?
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 01:06 AM) It appears that the Sox sat on their purse strings, letting Flores, Garcia, and La Framboise go back into the draft or off to 4-year schools. (and I'm not one who's known to criticize the front office for lack of expenditures.) If I was a betting man, I'd look for them to take a "reach" in the first round this year, signing somebody who will take less than slot money. Would that mean Jordan Walden is out of the question? I, for one, would like to see someone who can throw hard in the organization.
  8. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) From what I hear the Rays want young pitchers. Translation: Brandon McCarthy, Bobby Jenks, or both.
  9. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 31, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) If we could have won these last 2 games, we'd be back in first place. New York may have found the Tigers weak spot. It's not so much a "weak spot" as it is "players regressing to their mean career performances".
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) You want to put the tasmanian devil in the 5 hole. Thats insane. I am sure Konerko will get a lot of protection with the spinomatic flailing behind him. Funniest thing I've read all day.
  11. ESPN's Cy Young Predictor has Webb, Glavine, Tom Gordon, Arroyo, and Billy Wagner in that order. In case anyone is interested.
  12. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 31, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) yankee rotation And here I thought it couldn't get funnier than "Small Wang Johnson".
  13. Broadway's Last Start: ND (4-2), 6 IP 5 H 2 BB 1 R 1 ER 1 HR 1 K Broadway's 2006 Year to Date Stats: 4-2 2.30 ERA 11 G 11 GS 1 CG 1 SHO 66.2 IP 65 H 22 R 17 ER 2 HR 18 BB 46 K 1.25 WHIP 6.21 K/9 2.56 K/BB I wonder why his Ks are falling so badly?
  14. I still wish they'd taken Sweeney in that deal.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 29, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) The Yankees rotation should be, "Small Wang Johnson."
  16. It wasn't so much a contract year fluke as it was a ridiculously hot stretch at the beginning of 2005 for Garland. I doubt he goes 8-0 in any stretch of his career ever again.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 29, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) 6-3 with a 3.86 ERA is pretty damn good. Great for a 4th starter (I consider Garland the 5 at this point).
  18. Uribe had a good game. Isn't that statement an oxymoron?
  19. #4 should not be on there, but Vince Young's performance in the Rose Bowl was one of the greatest individual performances of all time, if not the greatest. #1 should not be there at all, although that was probably the 2nd or 3rd best game of the year.
  20. That's what I've been wondering for a while now.
  21. His role to this point has been "swingman", and it's a poor role for a guy who has never been in a bullpen before this year and needs to develop IMO. I agree with most here that McCarthy should be used in the setup role, as he was today. I just hope he can start stranding some inherited runners and lower his WHIP and ERA. Maybe that will come with more appearances.
