4/7 Kansas City Royals @ Chicago White Sox 1:05 CDT - CSN
We got something out of it anyway. Gotta send Dye. It's so backwards that the #9 hitter (this year) in that situation is seen as the 'last viable chance'

Very frustrating. As long as the start to the season isnt as frustrating as what STL went thru, i'll be moderately fine.

Amidst opening day fervor
Perhaps using opening day as a lead blocker of sorts, KW finally spoke a little more about the organization's offseason philosophy regarding the leadoff hitter spot http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....ox-opening-day/

Obviously minor, but it's funny to me how Getz got so much more pop than Wise, when he has dont close to zero yet for the org and Wise at least has some postseason heroics.

Plaxico to Bears?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) If the Bears signed Plaxico and there was one problem, everyone involved in signing him should immediately be fired. I really think there is zero chance Angelo is even considering bringing this knucklehead in. T. O. is an angel compared to this guy. Character should count for something. It amazes me how many people on this board want him in a Bears uniform, like he'll really be a changed person by all of this. If anything, judging by his traffic offenses and responses, he still thinks he's invincible. Avoiding a lengthy jail sentence and/or a lengthy suspension by the NFL would only make his head grow larger and he would act like even a bigger idiot. We're gonna say all this even without knowing the contract parameters are? I mean, I'm all for getting quality guys here - but Rashied Davis is a quality guy who just cant play the position. Lets have him brought in super cheap. If issues arise it was low-risk to begin with. After all we have no WRs at the moment who have done much so he's taking no one's time.

Time to bring back Frank
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 01:27 AM) His post Sox career totally sucked. Had that real nice year with Oakland I think even if Thome got hurt for the year I wouldnt want him back. Some things are best left alone. Even as a celebratory move to bring him back, for some reason I think something would sour it. The ole' foot in mouth disease might crop back up for not only him but a few other parties.

Cowley: Alexei Best Sox Defensive Player of Spring Training
I dont really understand why Alexei bats so low.

BEARS GET CUTLER!!!
God Mark Schlereth just looks so bitter and jealous over this. Be a pro, jeez. As far as Cutler being a Cubs fan, I'll forgive him his Cubdom easily to solve this Bears QB quest that is going on its 22nd year or so. At this point I'd take on a Satanist at the position. Church of Satan's actual ideology when you learn about it is kinda cool.

Dallas McPherson?
The only reclamation projects we allow are those of the pitching variety. Unless there's a CF spot open ho ho ho

Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter
Pitted against the current Pods, I'd rather have a leadoff hitter like Wise who, yes, is gonna get on base less often - but when he does it's going to have some punch to it, as he'll either be standing on 2b because of a double, or taking it with a steal. Or he's circling all bases at once. Even though he's going to be making contact perhaps less often than Pods, I'd like it to be going somewhere good when contact is made. That is unless Pods the slap hitter is going to steal bases again at his old pace.

Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter
How's Wise gonna be stealing bases? He got 9 last year in all his chances. And obviously it was not his focus as he wasnt leadoff hitter the whole year so it wasnt his main focus.

Why MacDougal?
We take a look, if things go well maybe we can make a deal with him and then see a young guy If things go really well, then it's a win If things revert to bad, we see a young guy In my view he's not keeping out anyone who is blistering awesome AS WELL as being well suited for relief, so we'll go with it.

Colon/Contreras 4th and 5th starters
Well we know from 2008 that Colon doesnt want to be in a bullpen even for a second. So he's starting or this was a failed signing. Meaning they'll give him any and all breathing room he needs to get it at least mildly together. If they lose a bunch then perhaps they go young earlier but I think BC will have lots of leeway.

New Roster Cuts
QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) I didn't see much of Swisher in the past, but if he changed his approach and swing from 06, he's f***ing stupid, and I doubt that's the case.. Sounds like you might be able to teach Swish a thing or two about hitting

What is the main problem with Fields defensively?
QUOTE (WCSox @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Paulie is signed through next season and I don't want Kenny over-paying to re-sign a guy in his mid-30's whose OPS has declined over the past three years. I appreciate Paulie like few others who have worn a Sox uni, but I'll strangle Kenny if he gives him another multi-year contract. i'm fine with 2year if it's cheap as all get out

What is the main problem with Fields defensively?
Viciedo has to be viewed as 3B/LF/1B/DH That sets him up for a whole different trajectory than Alexei who could have fit in at any of 2B/CF/SS And all that is even with age aside.
