So, his first year he would have been on pace for a 100 K year, extrapolated over a full year. His second year, down to 80. ERA was high. His third year, down to 60ish, but his ERA was low again. So the thought of his velocity and K rate dropping scares us..... but is he multidimensional enough to still be a top closer? Last year, it seemed to be the case. Didnt have to K people nonstop to still be good.

despite his event-ness... if Jerry Owens could get a .400 OBP and have at least some slugging..... i'd bench Thome and get Swisher lower in the lineup. Makes us faster, and Swisher can have Thome's power numbers (especially in the Cell) if he decides to have the mindset he had in 06. not something to worry about, though, b/c Owens isnt that.

I think it's silly to root against Owens. Absolutely fine with him coming up here and being the 4th OF.
