He makes El Caballo and Q look like gold glove LF. Never seen a guy so bad at going back on a ball at the MLB level in a corner. A fairly short one at that.

I'd imagine JRs everyday energy levels and cognitive abilities are similar to most people in their middle and late 80s. Even if he's in the 90th percentile range for his age group, and I've worked with some of these people in my line of work, they at best are capable of 3-4 hours of sustained output a day and need constant supervision as they will make cognitive mistakes or forget key things. It's just reality of being that age. He was always cheap, but he wasn't always this bad at running a franchise. He was never great to be fair, maybe never even average, but he wasn't historically bad.

We continue to have the absolute dumbest "roster crunches" in MLB history. Just fucking cut Slater and Capra and bring up Fletcher and Baldwin. This isn't complicated. Slater is the wrong side of a platoon and sucks anyways. At least baldwin and fletcher are LHH and under 30.

We are despereate for a position player superstar. Someone that can just hit 280/350/500 with 30 HR and solid defense. Someone to give us a nice 5 win head start on replacement and more importantly reason to tune in every night. Maybe Colson can be that guy, maybe his younger Montgomery can be, maybe even Vargas, but right now at best we have a few solid regulars and 7 or so guys position player wise with no future and no past that play too often.

It's a disheartening fucking situation we are in right now.
