And that's a White Sox Winner !!

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) Barring fatigue or injury I see no reason to shut down Rodon for the rest of the season. I think the Sox should go to a 6 man rotation once Erik Johnson is called up in September. Carlos is sitting at 112.2 IP so there's plenty of room for him to pitch the rest of the season. Keep building up those innings Carlos! Yea but including spring and AAA he's at about 130. As I said, let him make 2-3 more starts and then shut him down. I see no reason to push him much past 140 or 150 this season. He hasn't needed to build arm strength so much as become more efficient and he's done well with it. Respectfully disagree with you here. The season is over as far as playoff aspirations it's time to protect some assets. -

I would say Rodon's season has been a success so far even relative to the high expectations. He's made a lot of improvement on his changeup and his velocity has been sitting 93-96 just like before his stock feel in the draft when it was 91-93. Don't want to jinx it but he probably makes a couple more starts and they shut him down. Hopefully for Johnson. -
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) 18th time the Sox have held an opponent to three runs or less and lost. Mark which ones are those the 60 you're gonna lose or the 60 you're gonna win?

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Boston lineup had a bunch of players that were not on the team in June. But they took 2 of 3. I'm shocked people still think these games matter for the playoff hunt and that the Sox are going to win like 20 of 25 or some s*** and finish with 87 wins. Uh, that ship has sailed. This is a mediocre team at best.

rarely been as disapointed about a guy as Avi this year. Just no development. Viciedo 2.0 at this point, plenty of tools, no real ability to consistently lock in the strike zone or catch the ball.

Micah Johnson back at AAA, expected call up in Sept

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Second base. Zero value? He's not declining. Why in the hell would you do anything to mess up Carlos Sanchez right now? Micah can DH 2-3 times a week and play 2B once or so. -
Some quick observations from the Sox dugout at Safeco

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) You are a true Sox fan. I did get to see the Sox in 2005 when they played in Seattle. Honestly the Jose HR made it. He's a great player and a great guy and it was amazing to see the Sox fans in my section stand and cheer the guy. Jose signed for me in spring training last year before anyone even knew who he was he's so easy to root for. I'm a kid that had big league aspirations and topped out with some high juco offers that settled on my academic DIII school. The closest I get to the bigs these days is getting a nice seat when the Sox come to Seattle. I love athletics and I love seeing how these guys act up close. I saw Chris Sale his rookie year in Baltimore that was right up there with any experience I've had a park. That same game Viciedo started at 3B if you can believe it and hit some absolutely vicious pulled foul balls. I predicted based on that game he'd start at 3rd and be a long time fixture. lol, hence my grain of salt. -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:16 AM) greg there is no reason for these half empty shenanigans. I'm sure they'll get the book on Thompson before long but hopefully the organization actually produced a player that can f***ing adjust. He's show a quick bat so far despite his big frame. Hopefully he's one of the rare Sox prospects that is better suited to the MLB game than the high minors. He certainly seems to have an idea where the strike zone is. That helps. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 01:04 AM) How is his arm strength? Sure would be nice to have a position player develop for once. I could see Sanchez and Trayce starting next season. Sanchez is now into positive WAR territory. He's absolutely earned the starting role at 2B headed into spring. If the ORG can bring in someone on the cheap that is a 4 WAR player well hell in that case forget Sanchez, but when that doesn't happen, start him. He's earned it. If he was more highly touted we'd be ecstatic about a slick fielding 23 year old 2B that seems to have a little pop in his bat as well. He's never gonna hit more than 270/320/400 but with his glove at 2B that's an above average starter in today's game. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:37 AM) Thompson, please be for real! Just think if Saladino, Sanchez and Thompson all start next year and all hit about a buck fifty the first month and a half ... such is the life of a jinxed White Sox fan since 05. At least if it happens it's guys the org developed, that cost nothing, and are club controlled. Personally I think both Sanchez and Saladino have at least proven that their floor is very usefull utility guy. Sanchez is quietly putting together a very good 2nd half and Saladino continues to absolutely pick everything at 3B. I don't believe his defense is 4 fWAR good, but it might be 2 fWAR good. That covers a lot of 1/4 with a double nights. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:25 AM) I think he's handled Thompson very well, IMO Thompson comes from a family of elite athletes I'm personally not worried about his confidence. Hell, he's the rare kid that made it all the way from HS draft pick to MLB player in the Sox org. He's brimming with confidence let him play everyday the rest of the way. Melky, Eaton and Avi should each be getting a day or two off a week at this point. -

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) This kid needs to be playing every day. Move Garcia to DH and bench LaRoche for the rest of the season. Just my opinion. Mark I don't think you'll find a single person here that would disagree. Too bad the Sox will never do it. RV and the ORG will ride LaRoche to the end. If only the kid Thompson had half the leash against RHP that La Roche had against LHP through July. Good to see most of the contributions coming from guys that are young and will be here next year. Ramirez is dead to me. I appreciate his time but this season has been a train wreck, even with his improved 2nd half defense his bat and overall production has been brutal. -
So sick of Ramirez. Just DFA him so he can go to a contender for the last month. FFS it would be nice to let Saladino or Sanchez try out SS for a month see if they can handle it.

Most hated player in White Sox history

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) Bingo. Being frustrated that a guy sucks is one thing. Hatred belongs to a special group of guys who really deserve, such as the wife beaters and general scumbags. Nah, I can hate Kirk Hinrich and Gordon Beckham for what they represent. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:45 AM) This. Billy Koch and Royce Clayton definitely get honorable mention. I've met AJP three times, and he is by far the worst professional I have ever met. Ozzie's presence didn't make me feel uncomfortable like AJ's did, but he'd probably be second worst on behavior. I believe it. The same edge that allowed guys like AJ and Ozzie (middling athletic ability by pro athlete standards) make it in MLB is the same edge that makes them complete assholes off the field. Sometimes the guys that scrape by the whole way are those with the biggest egos imo. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 11:42 PM) I already don't watch much sox ball because I f***ing hate Robin as manager. This team is lazy, dumb and sucks. I can't wait til the offseason. f*** Shark too. How do you suck so bad in a contract year? f***ing bum Here's some great quotes from KW where he talks about himself like he's f***ing Theo or some s*** with a proven record of producing winner after winner: Come on man, are you for real? You are an average GM that fluked into a WS in your 10+ year tenure. Thanks for being better than most of the s*** history of the franchise but you are nothing special.

Greg, I'm with you on Danks. He's a warrior. I can't stand watching him on the mound but what he's doing after the capsule tear is basically unprecedented. He's worked his ass off to get back from it and even though he isn't half the pitcher he was I really appreceate his dediction and love of the game. I can see the dedication to baseball with him. His body betrayed him it really sucks but he could have just easily half assed his rehab and made the same amount pitching in Charlotte are being DFA. most unliked player for me will always be Dunn. He is a great symbol for everything wrong with the JR era the last 7 years or so. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 12:53 AM) Ask Robin and Cooper. Thompson is not only young, he's the hottest hitter on the team. And they won't play him regularly. Honestly, they should be trying to move some of these players through waivers to open up more spots for September. Guys like Alexei really need to sit. It's really frustrating how loyal they are. I'm starting to think it's just an insane blind spot towards sunk costs. KW had some quotes today in the Sun Times that I was just disgusted with. He's talking about how people come up to him in the street all the time and thank him for his efforts and how the Sox are always "all in". Are you kidding me? What is "all in" about playing La Roche and Ramirez, two guys that are meaningless as soon as next year, over guys like Saladino (hey, try him at SS!) or letting Micah come up and get MLB AB even if it's at DH. It's really frustrating but RV is just part and parcel of the upper management's problems. KW and JR control this s***. Hahn has influence, but for the most part it's the same as it ever was.

Some quick observations from the Sox dugout at Safeco
chitownsportsfan replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wasn't in the greatest mood yesterday but had the ticket so I decided to go down anyways. I've been brutally sick with bronchitis (feeling better today thankfully, long past contagious just trying to slowly rid my body of it) and because of the fires here in the PNW the air quality is seriously Beijing level bad according to our newscasters and seeing the early Danks problems wasn't the best start. I had a good time overall. The Jose HR was sick, a real no doubter and all the Sox fans gave him a rousing ovation. Jose is the man and felt good to see other fans appreciate him. Safeco is a beautiful park. I just wish one of these years (been in Seattle 4 years now) that when the Sox come to Safeco late in the summer they are relevant. -
I had row 20 behind the dugout. 36 bucks, thanks Mariners and Sox both being crap draws. Was down there about 40 minutes prior to the game and stuck around through the 8th inning. Won't lie I bugged out early to avoid the big traffic rush. In warmups it seemed like Carlos Sanchez and Saladino were pretty friendly. They were catch partners. Sanchez is a small guy but his pimp walk is Robbie Cano'esque. He has a lot of swag I'm surprised more scouting reports don't note it. Alexei did his own thing in warmups as did Avi. Those were the only guys I really saw warming up everyone else was either good or probably in the cages pregame. Trayce was a popular autograph and he obliged quite a few. He had a funny back and forth with the Mariners' moose mascot. He seemed very loose and why not it's a good time in the Thompson family. Dugout was pretty dead pregame did not see much energy and I get it. West coast getaway day on a mediocre team in August. During the game the only guy on the rail consistently was Jose, and that might have been because he was DHing and just wanted to keep a bit more into the game. During the national anthem Eaton stood right between Boston and Abreu, that was an interesting contrast. In warmups Danks was consistently throwing 58 footers and it translated into the game. His arm is just too flakey on him he either loses command or velocity it seems in half his starts. You guys all know it but seeing RV up close just confirmed all the bad stereotypes I have about him. He's just dead man. He had the shades on and he was posted up on the rail by the stairs just staring into space most of the time. Didn't see any rah rah stuff from him, not that baseball is the game for that. But just confirmed my own biases really. I yelled "Robin I love you but please retire" and it got a few chuckles from the Sox fans. Not many Sox fans at the park today at all. Less than last year even. that's about it. The pick Saladino made in the 1st or 2nd inning was rediculous, had a great view of it. The play Alexei made on Trumbo was easier than it looked on TV. But to his credit he didn't round it off as many SSs are prone to when they have a slower runner. Eaton was absolutely flying around 3rd on the play he scored on. Very impressive great technique and didn't slide headfirst which is a good habit to get out of him. none of these are meant as "hot takes" just my observations. Take them all with a grain of salt.

Think I am gonna bounce unless they get a few here. Better things to do then watch this garbage . Beers are cheaper at home as well.
-
Meatballs.
-
Danks is gonna have to buy Soto dinner this is ridiculous every other pitch is in the dirt.
-
Much better command from danks that inning. Garlic fries smell is overwhelming. Hot day.
-
Unreal the amount of military propaganda at the ballgame these days.
