  1. Montgomery hitting 206 with a 696 OPS, oof. I hate it here.
  2. By the time I got down the book it was 59.5 for the O/U and I swear if it had been 60.5 I would have bit. There's just something about betting on a team to lose 103 games, even one as bad as the Sox, that seems absurd. I should have trusted my gut. Hell, should have juiced it up to under 45.
  3. "guys, all you gotta do is win ONE OUT OF THREE GAMES rest of the way to avoid the record." "Best I can do is one out of four"
  4. They need to go like 10-24 rest of the way to avoid beating the Mets' post WWII record. Do they have it in them? We'll find out.
  5. Just looking at the box, and I know offense is historically low this year, but these slash lines are SHOCKING. Both teams are trotting out a half dozen guys with an OBP below 280 and an OPS below 650.
  6. In the grand scheme of things if we had Jake Burger we'd have 1 more win this year. On any sort of real franchise this would just be a deal that gets done every year and nobody really cares either way how it turns out. On our pathetic franchise it sticks out I guess.
  7. It's a sad state of affairs when we are even discussing this.
  8. Yea I don't have kids but I'm fairly involved in local sports and most the kids from what I can tell are playing at least two sports. I'm always a little surprised as someone that grew up during the height of "just do one sport" era parenting that a lot of guys looking to go D1 in football are also pretty damn good on the baseball diamond or basketball court. I don't think that specialization is behind the arm injuries. I just think it's physics. Guys are throwing harder, younger, than ever. The elbow just can't handle it unless you are some super freak, and even then eventually it will likely go like Verlander.
  9. The white Sox now have -5.2 fWAR from position players. I believe this is the worst ever and will finish as the worst ever.
  10. every 3rd inning you get the wild card: anything from a fan pitching to a race in the OF for a run occurs. go wild.
  11. Demographics of this board are showing in this thread. I'm 41. I've lived about half my life in a world where pitcher wins don't matter. Younger fans it's all they know. They don't care about 300 innings in a season or 20 wins or whatever they care about team wins and WHIP and K rate and so on. This is like lamenting that there aren't any 50 save guys anymore and we need to change the rules to make that happen. Who fucking cares other than nostalgic old timers looking back with a biased eye?
  12. sure, change the rules, don't dictate who you can play.
  13. They set the record for quickest 10 game division lead blown. It was like 32 games or something, they managed it in 26 or something. Losers.
  14. So I was right about all of this. I'm taking a victory lap. Those dumb idiots rushed Julio back and now he's out again. They are now 4 back in the division and playoff odds are down to 33%. They are the White Sox West Coast. Everything about them is the same. Everything. Even the injury s%*#.
  15. I can't think of anything even close. Maybe like some NFL substitution rules but that doesn't even begin to extend into requiring players to play a certain designated amount of plays.
  16. telling teams how they can and can't use their pitchers without being punished is insane. this is an order of magnitude more disruptive than anything they've changed in the last few years. it is a complete non starter (pun intended).
  17. Apparently changing the baseballs without telling people wasn't enough. Now it's more explicit. Like f*** off. The game as always ebbed and flowed. I've said it before the easiest thing to do would be to lower the mound. Try it out in the minors and see what happens. It's a very elegant solution that fits with the history of field changes and doesn't touch the major 3rd rails that other options potentially would.
  18. I just don't know how you'd enforce it. If a guy is struggling you just say he had an injury. And the league is going to have an injury gestapo to double check? What are we doing?
  19. This is stupid. Manfred does a couple things right and immediately goes to 11.
  20. You're right, it's hard to believe, because it's utter nonsense. I know the powers that be want to pin it all on Pedro. Get real. The manager makes a 2-3 game difference at best and if the powers that be wanted "their guys" playing more you know they were free to call him into their office and/or fire him long before August.
  21. Soon the 10% will be 10% of zero. Team is trash. Announcers are just par for the course with this franchise of steaming garbage.
  22. We're 30 WAR away from being competitive. Give me loud tools guys in the minors over some 1 WAR scrub that is "MLB ready" every day of the week!
