The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
How about rock bottom? Entered tonight with a wRC+ of 66 and a 38% K rate. He promptly went 0-2 with 2K and was PINCH HIT FOR WITH DYLAN FUCKING MOORE IN THE 8TH INNING.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
What in god's name makes you think Burger can play a decent 2B? There's literally no examples of a guy his profile playing it in the last 30 years that I can remember. Nobody moves from a mediocre to bad 3B and suddenly becomes a solid 2B, not at the MLB level. It's not like he's 21 anymore either he's pretty developed physically.

TLR 2022 Thread
Sorry I was riffing off of the infamous Marshawn Lynch quote from Super Bowl media day. Robin said at some point, maybe it was after he walked away, that he had to be talked into taking the managerial job. He didn't even really want the gig. And from what I can tell he's had nothing to do with MLB or baseball in any role since he walked away from the Sox gig.

TLR 2022 Thread
That list includes Robin "I'm just here so I don't get fined" Ventura, and Ozzie "I didn't quit on the team I just took another opportunity" Guillen. Even as bad as TLR has been to start this year, that's a pretty insane statement to make.

TLR 2022 Thread
that would be swapping out a yellow turd for a brown one if it's scioiscia. I don't see any easy answer here. The team isn't going to fire TLR anytime soon and even if they did there's no good options to replace him. the sox have made this bed and now they will have to lie in it for awhile. That includes their core of injury prone position players and their manager.

Sox @ Twins
I don't know. I can see around .500 but that would be a huge disappointment. I can also see Twinkies 2021 on the South Side where shit just snowballs and half the guys you thought were going to hit just complete collapse at the same time.

What The Actual F# Is Wrong With This Team?
On top of that this is a group that seemed to get high on their own supply. Starting huffing a few too many of their own farts. It's one thing to be confident but some of the attitude seems more "I just show up and dominate" than "I respect the talent of the other pros and work each day to best them". A chip on the shoulder is a good thing for most squads and that was what the club had last year as a unit. This year the vibe is different. And part of that is on the manager.

4/23 GT: Sox @ MIN (3:05 CST)
I'm reminded of Ozzie's quote. Curses? Nah, just 100 years of horse shit baseball. Personal problems? Nah, just a week of shit baseball. I watched about 1/3 of it that's personally all I could stomach everybody needs to find a cope because right now this team is shit. Might not be shit in a month, but right now it's shit.

This looks like one of the worst teams in baseball.

Casual Fans
I confess I watched maybe 6-7 innings of the Tribe series. Look baseball even for hardcore fans is something you sorta flow in and out of during the season. I got so pissed watching Tim and the other guys why would I even keep watching that shit? Turn it on maybe if they stage a comeback or something. There's 162 of these damn things and it's April it's OK to check out for a while. Hell, the team is!

TLR 2022 Thread
Fire him. He had the team ready to play last year more often than not despite tactical and strategic errors. This past week obliterated that notion. Team looks terrible. If this team is 40-50 in July you fire him.

How Concerned Should We Be?
I'm at about a level 7 of 10. I'm mainly worried about Eloy, Harrison and the pitching staff. The absolute lack of pitching depth in the upper minors has been exposed early. You hope to at least get into mid summer before needing a Lambert type but here we are. Eloy looks like a 1 WAR player. He really does. I don't see much in his profile at the plate right now that gives me optimism. I see a guy that is 100% a guess hitter and that's fine if you're crushing the guesses but he's not. He's pulling off the ball or hitting it into the ground. A guy like his should have a completely different batted ball profile if he wants success. That's something you rarely can fix in season. Harrison is more of a general worry about 2B looking like a position that will once again find the Sox below replacement.
