  1. Two shitty strikeouts on sliders not even close.
  2. Royals offense is putrid. Just throw strikes. I'd rather see 2 HR given up then 2 walks frankly. Make them hit the ball.
  3. We're trying to win games now and against tough LHP he should 100% sit for Grichuk. It's not like you're losing an elite LF glove. If we fall out of contention sure, let him get more experience.
  4. Someone has to step up at the back of the rotation otherwise we're gonna continue to rely on 6+ to win it 2 out of every 5 games, not ideal.
  5. Sandlin for us, Kolek for them. We really need to win this series. Offense needs to start plating baserunners again and hopefully we get some better BABIP luck both ways.
  6. Andrew Vaughn has a .351 BA and a 171 wRC+. Granted they are hiding him against some tough RHP but goodness.
  7. I think they basically just wanted to limit his innings and have him work on some mechanical things and used the tendonitis as an excuse. Lets hope they were able to improve his fastball command. Hard to pitch when you can't throw a strike with it.
  8. People said the same thing in 1994. Soccer has gained popularity but still lags far behind the NFL, MLB and NBA. I'd guess in another 10 years MLS outpaces NHL revenue but still lags well behind MLB and NBA. NFL is in its own tier, with the sport perfectly setup to maximize fan interest through fantasy and gambling. There are similar numbers of diehard baseball and football fans, but there are probably 3x casual fans for the NFL because of the interest around a social gathering on the weekends, betting, and fantasy.
  9. 11, and he's 20 playing against mostly grown men for the first time. He'd need to scuffle next year in AA this badly to lose shine.
  10. bruh it's the smart ishbia that bought the sox.
  11. The fact they are even putting this s%*# out in public is disgusting and designed imo to piss off the union and poison the negotiations.
  12. Owners proposed a series of absurdities today. No deferred contracts, max contract length of 5 years for FA switching teams, 6 years for teams retaining their FA. Min salary of 1 million (yikes). I hate these guys so damn much.
  13. Today's will be a bit brief as I don't quite have the enthusiasm for a long one after that stinker of a finish yesterday. Today's position player dive will be Tristan Peters. Background: Peters is a 26 year old from Winkler, Canada, a town of only 13K on the Manitoba prairie. 7th round pick out of Southern Illinois of all places by the Brew Crew back in 2021. He briefly was a Savanah Banana before starting his minor league career. He bounced around a bit, was part of minor trade to TB and eventually was released by TB and a trade was worked out with Chicago for our old friend CC or a PTBNL, this time going out, however. As far as I can tell, the Rays just took the CC. Statistical profile: 2.0 fWAR in 220 PA so far. xwOBA of only .302 but an actual xwOBA of .342. Is there something the predictive metrics are missing there? Maybe, as he does have elite sprint speed and will beat out more ground balls than most. He has a very good 18.2% K rate, but only a 7.3% walk rate. Looking at his batted ball profile he does appear to know where his bread is buttered as a hitter, with a 41% GB rate and a 23% line drive rate. He's not trying to hit HR, he's trying to get on base with a slap approach. 55.3% pull percentage and I'd imagine teams will look at his spray chart and start guarding the lines, which won't help his BABIP. Fielding wise obviously he's been elite outside a poorly timed dive or two. There's a MLB player here, but as with Meidroth, he doesn't look to be a starting caliber MLB player outside some stretches of good fortune at the plate. The Sox will obviously take what they can get from a player basically acquired for nothing. Put this one down as a win for Getz, but don't expect much going forward beyond a 1 or 1.5 WAR type defensive oriented CF. Unless the Sox find elite players in the corners around him, he will probably be a guy they are looking to upgrade on when they can.
  14. chissoxmike is such a b****. most of sox twitter is.
  15. His statcast is looking really ugly. I like him as a player but his flaws have been showing up big time the last month. He's a glove first 2B but he's not elite just solid defensively and not sure an xwOBA of .281 is going to play long term. He's gotten lucky with BABIP at .348. He's probably just a solid utility IF without a big increase in his hitting metrics.
  16. what is he swinging at? ball almost hit him.
  17. Oh great just the man we want up.
  18. Well you play for one run you'll score one imo.
