  1. You can only look at his position in each stat relative to others. He's not had a great year by any stretch, in fact it's been a pretty bad year for anything other than a 5th starter. But at least he's managed to eat some innings and turn things around a bit in the 2nd half. He's 11th from the bottom in SIERA he's 2nd from the bottom in xFIP. The difference really isn't worth discussing as at this point his path to improvement is clear and that's less walks, better command, better secondary offerings.
  2. I think Fangraphs has said as much and that it's badly in need of an update to reflect the new HR rates. I like SIERA it's the best. https://library.fangraphs.com/pitching/siera/
  3. I was briefly conversational in college and it was always much easier to speak in language lab with the native speaker peers than trying to talk to the Professor in class. I'd think a lot of these latin guys are conversational among their team mates but just don't feel comfie in front of the reporters, don't blame them.
  4. There's a lot of red flags in his profile including those. But he's held it together and hasn't completely imploded which should give him a foundation to build on this offseason. The most important thing is to cut the fucking walks out. And in order to do that he's going to have to find his command. Similar to Giolito you can live with solo shots. You can't live with three run bombs after walking the leadoff guys.
  5. No it will be Wander and rightfully so. Toolsy SS putting up those numbers in high A at his age is insane. Tatis 2.0
  6. increased offense + the Sox' sieve like defense helps him relatively. He hasn't been great, but he's been an alright 5th starter. At least he's serviceable heading into next year. You can squint and seeing him improving to a solid 4 or even 3 in a couple years.
  7. I'm a little worried Yolmer is playing himself onto the roster next year.
  8. Eloy turning his season around is massive. Great to see. Same for Collins keep it up guys.
  9. I dunno but DFW wrote that about Federer but he could have wrote it about Robert. Looking forward to him next year. Great sig!
  10. White Sox FO: Nah, we signing him to play 1B until 2024 at an AAV of 15 million. That's the worry from the 3rd camp.
  11. Yea it's a bad habit and I don't think he'll ever be that reliable with his arm until he learns to set and throw consistently. I love TA, huge fan of his, but his problems in the field need to be corrected for him to be a star.
  12. I think ZIPS had him at like 270/330/480 before the season started. He's had a bit of a down year so far but if he finishes strong he'll be right there where he was projected. Going forward though he has to be something like 280/350/550 to be a superstar bat and a 4-5 WAR player in LF. Sox are going to need his production.
  13. There's the growing possibility (as horrifying as it is) that they like what he's doing as manager.
  14. Oh I'd love it. Given how much of his value is tied to his BA it would really be meaningful. He's never going to take many walks so he needs all those hits. He's had a pretty damn good year. Fallen off with the glove but he can improve on that. It's going to take more mental focus and good fundamentals. He's got some bad habits that his athleticism allowed. Fielding the ball off to side when coming in on a ball should be a habit he breaks this offseason.
  15. Eloy approaching 800 OPS, he is finishing strong.
  16. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell of the Sox being the org to finally tap into his "raw power". If it even exists. Just like the Sox couldn't do much with Avi other then the year he rocked that .375 BABIP. Mazara is the type of guy that goes to Houston and suddenly hits 270/330/520. He'd be the same shit 740 OPS hitter in Chicago.
  17. lol, that perfectly sums up Jim logic. I can't listen to his podcast. He's an odd mix of throwaway logic like that and "serious analysis". Not sure how serious I can take his analysis when he's throwing out doozies like that a minute prior.
  18. Everybody is just frustrated. It's that simple. The tweet was stupid but frustrated fans say stupid things, like most people. On the other side of things, Josh and Jim and Pnoles profit off covering the White Sox and should try and maintain some professional objectivity. Tweeting a misleading stat like that (given the ultra small sample size and month of injury) should be above them as professionals. But "Moncada struggling with timing after injury" doesn't sell as much as "Moncada regressing to mediocre again". He's still in the top 25 in fWAR/PA. These injuries in the middle of the season are just horrible for guys. Completely screws up the next 100 or so PA after they get back. Moncada needs to adjust his training imo. He's had way too many hamstring problems for a young buck. He needs to figure something else out in the off season.
  19. Wading into too many threads lately that are wildly off topic. Guess it's September in another horrendous year for the Sox. He's been in a slump but frankly I can't even muster a care about it. Season is effectively an exercise in futility at this point. Everybody is ready for fishing season.
