Evaluating rick Hahn as of after 2020
I give him a B. He's done a good job but not an excellent one. There are certainly worse GMs.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
I wonder if Cooper will work in MLB again. Seems like the type that would rather retire than take a lower position and salary. I doubt anybody will hire him as a pitching coach right now.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
Yea I don't know how it would work but if he's looking for a better chance to win Chicago is def the place.

Cooper also out
Reylo should be traded for a bag of balls or cash. Cease needs a complete mechanical overhaul. Dunning just needs more reps. Dunning is not at all like the first two. Dunning had a great season.

I just don't know enough about him to really have a strong opinion but if the Astros hired him he must be doing something right. I'm still on the Girardi train I've been on it since he was let go in NY. I really think it's time for an ass kicker as the manager. Joe makes some bad in game decisions but he's not nearly as bad as Renteria and clubhouse wise I think the team is ready for a manager that is a bit of a hardass.

IDGAF. Hire the best people. Once he's served his penance he's good to go IMO.

Rick Hahn, if you read this board: please don't hire a cheater.
Rich if you're reading this fan has no problem if you hire Hinch.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
I said at the time even on the shitty DIII teams I was on the team knows when the manager is making bad decisions in game that are hurting them. Morale could not have been great. I'd imagine that giving Rodon that role after contributing basically jack shit for 2 years probably rubbed some guys the wrong way as well.

That's a fireable offense in and of itself. I remember being so pissed when that happened.

Gee you mean letting Eloy do his yakkety sax routine half a dozen times in LF didn't endear himself to the vets? I like Eloy but that was horse shit and hit happened many times. Hustle and get the fucking ball in.

Goodbye grumpy old man!

This is the strongest signal yet that "business as usual" is over in the JR orgs. The bulls moves were another strong signal but this is the strongest yet as there are a lot of reasons "on paper" you could keep Rick. But this is 100% the right move Rick was holding this club back from its WS title hopes.

Also, Steve Stone apparently is a mouth piece for the org.

An honest question about Vaughn
I guess it's the offseason on Soxtalk too. Fug.

Crochet's arm fine
It's not always easy. A partial tear is hard to see on the imaging and sometimes they will recommend rest and rehab before surgery if it's unclear. As noted, we've seen this movie before where they try and rehab it but eventually need surgery anyways. Sometimes I'd imagine it's "better" (just from a fans standpoint) to fully tear the UCL and just get it over with.

Man seeing the bean that empty is depressing. So is a long winter with no baseball. "People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I tell 'em, I stare out the window and wait for spring". -- Rogers Hornsby

No not really.

The effectiveness of Don Cooper
He sounds like a fucking neanderthal. https://takeoutyourscorecards.wordpress.com/2018/12/05/white-sox-bullpen-coach-hasler-hands-out-advice-on-pitching-mechanics/ Buer has already proven that pitching all offseason really has jack shit to do with injury risk. In general the Sox' coaching is an overall detriment, not a positive. The players that succeed do it because they have the IQ and ability to improve. This has been proven over and over again when they try and bring in players that have a "flaw" they think they can fix. See Mazara for the latest example.

Will the Front Office Fire Renteria?
Loyalty is a low virtue, which is why mob bosses love it. I'm just feeling pretty down about the Sox even though this year was probably a success overall going forward the team will be playing and fighting with one arm tied behind their back.

You have to fire renteria in the off-season.

I really don't care about the power but he can't be below average at 2B and one of the worst runners in MLB. Like he's def down to -5 RAA on the bases now in like 1/3 of a full season.
