  1. From Timmy's twitter, he too apparently likes Gunna:
  2. yea half week for Stone, he's down in Scottsdale enjoying the sun believe he said he'd rejoin the club in KC later this week.
  3. Figures he finally starts heating up just was we head to an NL park.
  4. I have great memories of that summer spent largely in Chicago, it must have been 2003 my freshman year, such a fun time to be young and in a big city. Now I feel old and tired. Oh well.
  5. I just remember thinking how cool there's a place called "homewood flossmoor".
  6. wow small fucking world my first college GF was from Homewood. Her dad was the principle at Flossmoor when we were dating.
  7. If they do I have no problem with it. Need to see some moves in that direction next offseason however.
  8. Yea he's got an option of selling Fords or Kias in the greater Chicagoland area for the foreseeable future.
  9. Wow that's awful for him. Was he playing with it earlier in the year? Kudos for trying to tough it out but damn.
  10. There isn't a snowball's chance in Tempe in July that Vaughn spends a single minute in rookie ball. @Balta1701 @SoxAce be sure to bookmark this one so if I'm wrong you can easily pull up the receipts
  11. Have to think he goes to high A for a cup of coffee and then by July is up to AA for the rest of the year. Maybe a cup of coffee in AAA in late August. Hopefully debuts with the MLB club sometime next spring.
  12. Someone posted that the cutoff would be late April. If it's between waiting another two months and pushing his arb control out one year it's a no brainer to wait.
  13. relative to their age and other tools those batting lines were pretty damn good and suggested they'd at worst be 1 WAR types upon entering MLB. That's pretty much what happened. I looked at the ZIPS projections for Robert and they have him at about 1 WAR if he was to be called up today (or half war for the remaining schedule). Even with a slash of something like 230/290/380. It's a bit odd but ZIPS projects an isoD of almost .80 for Robert. Not sure I see that walk rate in MLB. All that said, there's zero reason to call him up this year. He should be up in 2020 when it's passed Super 2. If they get him in AAA in the middle of July this year that would give him about 400 PA at the AA/AAA level before MLB, that's enough for a guy that talented.
  14. the mariners have selected 5 college pitchers, lol. Do you Mariners.
  15. Lopez was living off an incredible strand rate last year. Once that normalized he was awful. It's disheartening that he was better than he is now back in 2017.
  16. they aren't "good pitches" if he hangs them in the zone 80% of the time while burying one out of five. he has zero command on all three pitches. he's going to have to find some, regardless of starting or closing. He's still got some development to do before writing him off but his median case right now looks like mediocre 5th starter / swingman. Not awful and a useful piece for a contender but not a major contributor.
  17. edit: not sure who to blame here. has to be narvaez assuming it would be a double play but on 5th and 6th watch it's not as cut and dry.
  18. Agree. I'd say on paper this group is as good as the early aughts group. On paper they are slightly better than the early 90s group. But that's just on paper. Generating an inner circle HOFer like Frank seems a tall order.
  19. Might not be a bad idea. Give Lopez the rest of this year as a starter and if he can't hack it try him at closer. His fastball as a closer would certainly play but I'd still have concerns about finding a secondary pitch.
  20. I'm fine with the pick. Sox need to add some HS arms that might arrive in 2023+. At that point hopefully we'll be talking about how to extend the window and Thompson will be a part of that.
  21. Yup, which is nice. He needs to sustain this production and get back on a path towards MLB in 2021.
  22. literally none of that is written in stone. I'm not writing him off as that would be asinine but penciling him in based on draft status and college production is a useless projection given we now have 400 or so PA of him in MilB to evaluate and it's not that pretty. He's rocking an ISO of like .75 FFS. That is pathetic.
