  1. Oh that makes sense. Good call.
  2. I have no doubt he'll have growing pains but Giolito is working with a squirt gun, Kopech has a master blaster. Kopech is also a different beast mentally. Kopech, at least form his public persona, appears to have some Pedro in him. Lopez gives me the same vibe. These guys are cocky and step on the mound with ownership. To use the parlance of our times Gio is the virgin and Kopech and Lopez are the swinging dick chads. Speaking of that, does Gio rock a chain? Someone should buy him a nice cuban links, might help his mound presence.
  3. Last night when he fell apart I wondered if the same would have happened down in AAA (for whatever reasons) or if he could have righted the ship (again for whatever reasons) down there and walked out of his start with some confidence for next time. The Indians broadcast had an extended shot of him in the dugout after he left and in the game thread I described it as "bad body language guy". He just seemed deflated but he did come out early and actually look like a fairly talented young pitcher -- he just lost it at the slightest sign of some adversity. Let him try and work out his issues against lower competition with less pressure so maybe next time he faces some adversity at the MLB level he can remember how he fought through it at a lower level. If he still stinks in AAA then it was never going to work but it's hard to see him "working through this" in MLB, last night is just more evidence for that.
  4. Among other things he stinks from the stretch so "simpler" might not be necessarily better. I think he thinks too much on the mound. He gets in his own head and starts throwing tight and aiming. He should be down in AAA working on gaining confidence imo.
  5. People over react to 30 game stretches that's for sure. Good and bad.
  6. he sucks cut him.
  7. learning to fly, is the hardest part...
  8. Whatever it is, it's not good.
  9. My honest question is if Gio has the mentality to be a quality MLB pitcher. His issues are are upstairs. Those are harder to fix sometimes.
  10. Million dollar arm, 10 cent head.
  11. and he falls apart, of course.
  12. I've noticed he gets ahead of himself way too often.
  13. This guy has zero mental fortitude.
  14. Eh, he's made some bad and mediocre pitches, he hasn't made them to Yoan. The one he did the ump called a strike outside the zone. That said, kid is scuffling, obviously.
  15. Good lord that breaking ball is just sick.
  16. I gotta follow that guy.
  17. Certainly appears to be "staying tall" and not falling off the mound so far.
  18. He's pitching right to the mitt tonight. Awesome, had that 94mph heater right were he wanted it top of the zone. NICE!
  19. really fucking helps the pitcher that the catcher is giving a good target and not shifting around like they've got fire ants in their cup.
  20. dude that was a nasty sinking two seamer. wtf did dylan covey infect gio with the live arm?
  21. More seriously, Kevan Smith should be the starter, just for the help he brings framing and otherwise on defense.
